EA did not do ANY exclusives for the PS3... All were multiplatform... So, he should have said that they "made the call that PS3 *AND XBOX 360* was going to be bigger than the Wii, and we allocated resources accordingly" instead of just singling out the PS3. Or how about just saying that they underestimated the Wii. Or blame it on the Xbox, which was the first next-gen console and out for a year before the PS3 or Wii.
It just seems that the PS3 is always getting bashed...
Your post expresses succinctly exactly what the problem is and why PS3 owners get so frustrated and defensive.... It is all a product of the internet media fostering a console war to garner hits on websites (not to mention a console manufacturer (Microsoft) using what many perceive to be underhanded tactics in its marketing).
As far as the media fostering this nonsense, one has to look no further than Michael Pachter. Although I often agree with his business perspective, his pre...
The guy give absolutely NO concrete reason why the game is not overhyped, so I will go with his original premise: That is is!
My favorite reason the he gives why it may not be overhyped is:
"No Bayonetta article would be complete without praising how good she looks. But is she the next Megan Fox? Umm yes, because you get to run around naked and in a suit that is made of hair. Most would complain that her head is too small, but she is actually based on supermodel...
I just don't think I like that highly stylized Japanese hack and slash design like I did back in the PS2 generation.
I am not interested in this game in the slightest. Something about the whole thing just bothers me... it's like "same old, same old"... another Japanese DMC-clone button masher.
"if you die, IT'S YOUR FAULT! and you know it."
I totally agree. The game is awesome and although you need to stay on your toes, there are times when it just lulls you into a false sense of safety. For instance in the Tower of Latria, I had died a bunch of times against those "guards"... then after I was feeling comfortable b/c I didn't see anymore, I walked right off the edge of the walkway that was broken... REALLY SUCKED! But, I immediately started the lev...
Reported as SPAM.
I find it interesting that Uncharted 2 has not charted in the top 10 in Japan.
Amazon and other online retailers are typically selling many (if not all) of the new games for $10.00 or more off.
Ummmm... this IS a Sony exclusive... on the PSP... and it has been getting mediocre reviews across the board from every site... and I have not seen one Playstation supporter talk about bias or getting "screwed by reviewers."
"most of these people are n4g ps3 fanboys so who cares."
Actually, Invisible Walls podcast on Gametrailers feels that this is like L4D 1.5 (in other words like an expansion pack)... They recommend a rent if you have already played the original L4D and that, even though there is some new content, it is the same game and many will feel ripped off by L4D2.
That's coming from Gametrailers! (which gave the game a great review, btw!)
Like Natal?
would be if they could somehow integrate some of these new features into Home... it would give people a reason to use the service.
But, Firefox is not the way to go... i think that it is too resource heavy...
I'd rather see Chrome... I think that the clean interface is better suited for a console like the PS3.
I agree with you that it takes some getting used to when you have to go back and use PS1-style controls... I wish that they would give an option on these re-releases to use the analog sticks and have a more updated sort of control scheme. I know that it wouldn't be as authentic, but it is tough to go back to those old controls!!
Don't tell Lens of Truth... ;-)
Wasn't there just an article posted that was titled "Sony to Receive Sales Boost"? Then of course, there was the "Sony has MS Sweating" only to be followed a day later by "MS has Sony Sweating."
It's funny really since it is Sony that has all of the momentum at the moment... the Xbox faithful are in full defense mode lately!
What's that I smell? Hmmmm, I know that smell... It's another class action on the way!
This is not a PS3 vs. Xbox argument... it is about how reviews are (generally) skewed higher than they should when it comes to high profile games (i.e., GTA4, Halo:ODST, etc.)... Regardless of whether or not Xbots believe MW2 to be somehow more theirs than the PS3's, the bottom line is that MW2 is on BOTH the PS3 and Xbox.
But, since they don't include the BIGGEST brick and mortar retailer (Walmart) and the biggest online retailer (Amazon), both of which sell products for under suggested retail price, then how can there be any of these numbers be accurate? If you factor those in, then both the PS3 and Xbox had to have sold over a million units (and I am going out on a limb to suggest that it is likely that the PS3 did outsell the Xbox b/c it has been consistently outselling the 360 for months on Amazon (the 360...
