The gameplay was worse than mediocre.
Personally, I wouldn't pay $25 for Enslaved. I rented it a few weeks ago and HATED the game. While the story may have been decent, the gameplay was terrible. And I hate all the hand-holding on each level. I'm glad I rented the game or I might have been tempted by this offer.
Hate to be a spoiler for your fantasies, but it is not sold out everywhere. It is available at my local game stop, my local best buy and Amazon has bundles available right now. The stand alone is not available from Amazon now, but that changes daily.
So, don't kid yourself about the availability.
I am in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area and there are several (I won't say piles, but several) Kinect bundles and standalone units at my local Best Buy and Target. And I am friends with the manager at one of the Game Stops near my house and he said that they have not sold out on their original shipment yet. And this is a major market here in South Florida.
Brian Crecente has had almost only positive things to say about the Move and has been much more critical of Kinect.

It is marketing material! This is not a financial statement being filed with the SEC. Whether it is Sony, MS, Apple, McDonald's, IBM, or any other corporation, marketing materials are distributed to the press and the public to promote products. While I understand that many put out trolling posts in order to attract attention and get a laugh out of riling people up, I just get so frustrated with the ineptitude of some of the people that post ...
Instead of all of these random blogs just reprinting the same tripe over and over again (be it a press release, a graphic, a short quote, a tweet, etc.) and putting a 2 sentence "article" to accompany it, how about some critical analysis of the quote, graphic, tweet or press release? How about some of these bloggers putting some effort into their posts? Do some fact checking on the stuff they post?

In Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Florida area, I was out at Best Buy and Target yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, and just out of curiosity took a look at the video game sections. Both stores had an ample supply of Kinect standalone units and bundles.

That's why MS is only just sending out review copies to the media and has an embargo in place until release day! This happens when a bad movie is released. They don't allow reviews of the movie until after it is out. If MS was confident, they would have allowed the gaming media to actually play the thing and post reviews prior to the games coming out.

The manufacturers are more accurate than the tracking companies (NPD, VG Chartz, Media Create, etc.) because they are publicly traded companies and are under strict reporting guidelines. The only thing they can fudge on is how those numbers are reported (i.e., MS reports consoles shipped, Sony and Nintendo report consoles sold).
Actually, before MS announced their "exclusive" partnership with Netflix, it was rumored to have been coming out on PS3 first. But, you know how MS likes its "exclusivity" contracts, even if most of it is only timed exclusives.
