I have to agree that Fallout is one of the games I'm most looking forward to; that said, I'm not sure it will be my sole must-have of 2008 as there are a whole load of really great looking games coming up, and some are still only showing the peak of their iceberg-like potential -- such as Little Big Planet.

We'll all know soon enough, huh?

Well, it's there for me. Are you sure you checked your EU account, and not another (assuming you have more than one account)?

It's the second option under the 'Latest' tab, just after the Super Stardust Demo.

Also, as an aside, is it just me, or has the lag on the Store vanished of late? About a month ago the PSN store was really slow on Thursday download day, but I've not noticed that for a while now.

:)

Very big indeed. I've been downloading for what feels like an age now, and I'm only at 16% completed.

It will be a while before I get to try it out, methinks.

Really, if you don't have PS3 Singstar yet, I reckon your girlfriend will love you if you get it for her; it's a lot better than the PS2 equivalents. Yes, kinda more of the same, but the online goodies make it a quality purchase. Some of the user-created videos up already are freaking hilarious (and some are scarily good).

And, you never know, you may even find a song you'd like to sing (when no one else is around, of course).

That said, you may not like the amou...

Well, each to their own. I enjoy downloading new demos so I can make an informed decision about future purchases. Further, one of my daughters is so young that a demo seems like a full game to her (she's only 3), so playing the Simpsons demo is as good as the retail version.

Of course, I also have all the new Crimbo games to play, but that doesn't mean I don't like new demos as well. There is no satisfying us in this house -- we always want more.

And, to make it ...

After all the no-update talk, I wasn't expecting anything this week, so this has come as a welcome surprise. I'm downloading the haul now -- I'm curious to see if The Club is any good. Of note, the update to SSD is welcome, as both my wife and I play it fairly regularly.

Anyway, back to all the new Christmas games. Completed Uncharted already; on to Conan now. Assuming I can get a moment on the machine -- my wife is all over Singstar just now, and my daughter is addicted to Rat...

That was a pretty comprehensive review, and I must admit it kinda swung me from 'meh' to 'umm... okay, I'll maybe give it a shot'.

Nice; however, I'll still wait to see what everyone else has to say first.

Did you read the article at all?

The author made it clear that the process was not only unneccessarily complicated for something that should be simple, and is simple on other platforms, but that it is also costly, wasteful, unreliable, and, as far as he was concerned, enough of an issue that he no longer wished to make further purchases from Microsoft's gaming division.

That, for me, is a little more than 'having problems reading instructions'.

And...

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about GoW2, that does make a difference. The first game was a good laugh.

And I wasn't saying the exclusive line-up doesn't have quality next year -- it clearly does -- I was simply suggesting that, to my eye, it looked a little weak when compared to the alternatives.

However, as I said, the complete line-up looks pretty strong, and will be enough to keep any gamer happy for the year.

That's a pretty strong array of titles, although the exclusives look a little weak. Does anyone know if there are any rumoured, unannounced projects that could bolster that lineup?

That's only the US sales, not the worldwide sales.

Edit: Who's the misinformed chappy who's disagreeing here? Show yourself, oh phantom disagreer, and explain your mysterious antics!

Very, very cool.

EoJ is a cool adaptaion of my PS3, and my kids love it, but this will just rock if it happens.

Here's for hoping.

Assuming you are telling the truth, which is what I always prefer, then this is exactly what I'm worried about. If the newer machines are still RRoDing, then the underlying problem probably hasn't been resolved, which doesn't impress me as a prospective buyer. Microsoft may have masked the issue rather than fixing it, which is not filling me with consumer confidence at the moment.

Anyone else have a new machine RRoD on them, or is this an isolated event? If it is isolated, mayb...

So, you're on to your third machine, yes? Doesn't that seem excessive to you? I only ever bought 1 N64, or 1 PS1, and both still work well. You seem to be suggesting that the liklihood of the Xbox doing the same is pretty low. Is that right?

I keep hearing that the newer machines are much more reliable. But, given Steve's experience (see my first post), and given just how poor the first machines seem to be, I'm really scared that I may be buying a timebomb. Given how many machi...

@nirwanda:
Yeah, Steve knows what he's got to do, but, as I said, he's really lazy.
Bit of a shame really, as he hasn't played Halo yet (it's been down for a while).

So, I trust yours died then? Can I ask how long it lasted?

@zaything:
Ouch, that sounds pretty bad. Does anyone else feel it's as high as a 14% failure rate? I've heard both higher and lower, but the stories here are far from filling me with confidence.

Really, considering the market she is dealing with, this sort of nonsense, while unfortunate, should be entirely expected. We've all seen the gossip circulating about the 'hot games developer', and Ubisoft certainly haven't tried to play that down too much (after all, all press is good press). Really, did any of you find that comic that surprising? The world is made up of all sorts, and they express themselves in different ways. If Jade is offended by this, she really needs to open her eyes t...

@Death Eater:
May I ask how long you have had your machines? Are they launch consoles? Or are they all new consoles bought fairly recently?

@Tsalgi:
Again, may I ask you how old your machines are? Old or new? I've spotted on other forums that it tends to be older launch consoles that are most prone to RRoDing, and I'm hoping my mate's relatively new one collapsing is an isolated case.

And two for you alone? That's pretty rough! Are you still happy w...

That was a fascinating read. I'll admit to ignorance regarding RRoD and what caused it, and am surprised to see that this ignorance is fairly widespread, with a lot of supposition going around regarding it's true nature, and little in the way of truth to be found. I only know that of the three people I know with an Xbox360 (my brother, and two of my closest friends), one has suffered from RRoD (the friend in question, Steve, has yet to contact Microsoft about it yet as he's a bit annoyed and ...

I don't think he was asking for proof of your claims regarding Halo, but proof of your conclusion that Sony is desperate and has paid for a timed exclusive; although, I could be wrong.

To me, it appears that the problem for the Xbox version is Microsoft, and the restrictions they placed on modding. If Microsoft had been a little less anal in this area, it wouldn't surprise me if the Xbox version would have been ready by about now as well. However, it appears Epic sidelined the ...
