They did? Dang, how did I miss that, huh?

I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with now -- I could do with some MMO goodness on my PS3.

I didn't know that NCSoft had an exclusive deal with Sony for the PS3 and PSN. That was news to me!

Sweet!

How did I miss that?

Anyway, thanks for linking to the story -- I'll be keen to see what makes it to the PS3 in the coming months.

Good news, and about time! My wife will be very pleased, and I may just have to download 'Life on Mars'.

'I'm Gene Hunt, your DCI. It's 1973, nearly dinner time, and I'm having hoops!'

Nice!

Well, I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I love my PSPs (we have two in our house). Not only do I love the games (currently playing FF Tactics), but all the little extras make it an essential part of our multi-media household. I'll be interested to know if any of the recent sales of the PSP are influenced by the growing awareness of the connectivity between PSP and PS3. The remote play feature gets enormous use in our house -- simple things such as my wife being able to see the kids...

Indeed, but it's still some pretty impressive numbers. I'll be a little surprised if the trend continues, however.

That's a justifiable worry. Both my wife and I play Oblivion a little too much -- it really sucks you in to it if you give it a chance. But, in the end, that's what I pay the money for: quality entertainment, and a lot of it. I've certainly had more game for my money with Oblivion than any other title I've bought for PS3 so far... well, maybe excepting SSHD: my daughter and wife play that /all/ the time.

Personally, I feel that list is pretty fair, far fairer than many I have read. Although Oblivion has many, many flaws, the sheer scale of the game, and the immersive gameplay, more than compensates.

I've had the GotY edition since it was released, and I've played it almost consistantly since then, Really, it's that good. Yes, graphically it's mince in comparison to most other games on my PS3, but it is still a better game than pretty much everything else I have.

Really, are they doing that? I missed that little gem. That rests my worries a great deal, as I've only played MGS2 (although I'm thinking of picking the others up to play before I hit the new game).

I'm bubbling you up -- I meant to on another thread, but I seem not to have, so here they come.

Thanks, if you do spot anything, do post on.

I've had a quick look on the interweb, but found nothing as of yet. That said, it was a cursory search at best; I'm working to a pretty strict deadline just now, and can't really afford much time to be messing around on the net like... err... I am just now.

Just call me Captain Procrastination.

Great video. It pretty much hits every nail square on the head barring one:

Can I play games on my PS3 when I'm using the hdd to record? If not, it's not so good for me, as I'm often playing games when programs I want to be watching are scheduled.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Yeah, the screen tearing wasn't too common for me, but it was there. It generally only occured in larger environments, such as when you whip the camera about to view the vista around the U-boat in the jungle.

So, I can imagine many would miss it if not looking for it, but I'm a perfectionist, and always spot these things.

:)

I completely agree with the ol' mighty-douche. The whole resolution thing seems to be played down a great deal by many, but the differences on screen, especially on a large screen (mine is 40") are not only noticable, they are very, very noticeable.

Personally, 720p looks pish on my tv when compared to 1080p, and 480p is just icky. The differences are remarkable. Perhaps some will be happy playing Uncharted at 480p instead of 720p, but I would not be -- and fortunately, I ...

I think you may have missed the point. The problem isn't that the game isn't in HD -- it is, it runs at 720p (and that's what it runs on my TV at). The problem is for the minority of PS3 owners with old 1080i sets (which are pretty rare in the PAL region, I hear), as they can only run the game at 480p.

So, to make that clear, if you have a last gen telly, you're screwed with the PAL version. So, we are still well within the 'hd era of gaming' as you described it, too far within...

Well, perhaps I'm just unlucky, or just more discerning; who can be sure? Out of interest, what tv are you playing it on?

I'm running the PAL version on a Sony KDL-40X3500 (which, being Sony's big, bad boy, obviously renders 1080p).

Contrary to the almost universal acclaim Uncharted seems to accrue, it does have screen tearing issues; not many, but they are there.

Yes, a great game, and one I enjoyed immensely, but not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Then again, I wasn't expecting it to be, unlike many others; it is Naughty Dog's first PS3 game, after all, and their first foray into the pulp/Tomb Raider genre.

Having completed it, I'm very, very keen to see how the next one turns ...

Yuppers. Those unfortunate souls with older tvs are looking at importing or suffering a lower res. Not an issue for me, but if it was, I'd be kinda upset about this.

6575d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Sweet. I'd be very happy with a PSP version of Oblivion, but I'd kinda given up on ever seeing one. Perhaps that was a little premature, huh?

:)

Well, the debate aside, the article was a good read. If you haven't read it, I recommend dipping in to read what they have to say.

In reply to your point about saturating the market and splitting the FPS user-base: In essence, I agree, and it may hurt sales of each individual game; after all, the PS3 user base is still relatively small. However, as far as Sony is concerned, it is nothing more than a good thing, as each new game may drag a new gamer to the PS3 for the first time, increasing market penetration.

Further, as the saturation of FPS games attracts new gamers attracted to FPS games, these new game...

100% agreement from me.

The FPS market on PS3 is thickening up fast, but as I'm not a huge fan of the genre, I just cherry-pick the best. Much like you, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are likely to do for me in the coming months. It would take something pretty special from Crysis to get me to buy that as well, and given that the story isn't said to be that great, I'll probably pass on it.

That said, if the graphics are ported well, and are as stunning as I know Crys...
