Wow. I have a 360 and love me some Gears & Halo 3, but be realistic - better looking than KZ2? Gears maybe you could make some type of argument with (I do love the looks of both 1 & 2), but Halo actually looks a little cartoony. The pink armor actually looks like something off of Nickelodeon. I don't recall pink armor in KZ2 though. Blood spatters and such, yes, but strangely absent for pink armor... perhaps it will be in some downloadable content later (fingers crossed).

These 2 games alone will give tons of hours of gameplay (and replayability).

Amen brother, that's the last trophy I need for Resistance 2. I had put that 10K kill trophy on the back burner last fall and just started playing the online competitive again last month. I still love the game, and I think that's definitely a trophy geared towards those who just can't get enough of R2.

My 360 was quieter than my PS3 too... right up until the fans started roaring like a jet engine and then left me with the RRoD.

The games and online are outstanding. The reliability was the only thing that kept me from getting one when they first came out. The one that I have lit up with those nifty red lights this past week. I redid the thermal paste & heatsinks, and slapped it into a modded case for maximum cooling and we're good to go now, but it's sad that I even had to do this. I'll probably wait at least 2 years after their next version comes out to see what complaints rise to the surface...

...on Far Cry 2. I thought I got a deal when Best Buy sold it for $30 new. Little did I know that I was getting completely, totally hosed on that deal.

I actually dug Fallout 3, and I usually don't get into RPG's (loved Demon's Souls thought too). It struck me as a great mixture of action & exploring. Plus, who doesn't love Behemoth hunting?! (bring on the nukes baby, bring on the nukes)

Haven't tried Assassin's Creed yet, but I've heard the repetitiveness...

I thought it was entertaining, actually. What really p#$$'d me off was how floaty the platforming could be. The controls needed to be tighter. To me that was the biggest weakness.

6103d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Right on. Dead Space was simply an amazing game regardless of the platform - nobody should miss this game (unless you really hate blood & gore - then, yeah, ya' may want to skip it). Great graphics, sound, atmosphere, tight gameplay, and story... What's not to love? I think I played through it 5 times or something like that.

Can't wait for the sequel. Heck, I'd consider getting a Wii - when the price goes dirt cheap - just to try out that version.

Gears 2 (and the original) is the main reason that I bought a 360 as well. A high price to pay, but fantastic games.

Just finished the SP campaign for Gears 2 on the 360 and loved it, but I'd buy it again for PC for updated visuals (and connections).

Gears 1 on the 360 was great, but the PC version was a step above as far as visuals & content.

so I would definitely pick up Gears 2.

@ 5.1 - Really? What was all the hate about? Installation problems? High spec requirements? Just curious...

I think I had trouble installing it the very first time out of the box. Weird control glitch. The mouse would work but not the keyboard. Reinstalled it, after that everything has been ducky.

I'm all for motion sensing technology - as long as it can be implemented effectively.

But if problems continue as far as random interpretation of player movements, or if I hear the term "waggle" used one more time, I think I'll probably have a seizure. And I'm not just mocking Nintendo here... I love my PS3, but the sixaxis is usually nothing more than an afterthought at best and a poor game mechanic at its worst (with some rare exceptions).

So count me...

...got my copy (asian/english) through playasia.com. Little bit of a wait, but it was worth it. And aside from the box & manual, you'd never know it's Chinese (plays in english with a pack-in rundown of the controls with english instructions). Great to hear they're also bringing this to the states. If you like a challenge, you'll dig this game.

Hopefully Sony will bring this game to the states. If not, you can import from Play Asia for a nominal markup (or if you can't wait for Sony to make up their minds). Just make sure to get the right version. I think the Chinese-English copy is the one I went for (the box and manual are in Chinese, but there's a english pack-in slip with a summary of the controls). The Japanese version does NOT have english options (correct me if I'm wrong here).

As soon as the demo is done downloading I'm planning to test it out. Hopefully Capcom at least allows players to walk and shoot or something along those lines so you aren't totally stationary. I'd say requiring a player to stand in one place while aiming/shooting is unrealistic, but I guess this is a game about shooting friggin' zombies...

I remember when I first picked up RE4 I hated the controls at first, but they grew on me and kinda' became second nature. At the least it was a helluva' improvement over the tank controls in Veronica (what sadistic f@!k came up with that control mapping system?!).

But I don't know that I'll be as forgiving this time around. Like everyone else, I've probably been spoiled by games with superior shooting mechanics. Controls shouldn't be difficult just for the sake of being diff...

I have to disagree. No offense, but I've never done anything goofy to my system. No hacking, no surfing the internet with it, no installing Linux or alternative OS, no cracking it open to see what's inside it, no trying to hack the Pentagon with a string of PS3's connected to the Energizer Bunny, nothing.

I play games, watch movies, download the occasional PSN demo or game, and that's it. But that didn't stop my PS3 from developing China Syndrome immediately after the update...

That's good to know, thanks. Mine is out of warranty (launch PS3), so maybe there's some hope. And yeah, a short life expectancy would seem to fly in the face of that 10-year plan aye?

I'd heard early generation Blu Ray players in general may have shorter lives, what with being new tech and all. I wonder if that's what that supervisor was referring to?

6261d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'd never had a problem with firmware before either, but I had tried to take the same approach that you did (let other people try first, then update a few days or even a week or so afterwards if no problems on the forums).

I made an exception this time and right away I started having the problems noted in the article. My PS3 will start up normally, but it won't recognize any kind of disk - and I'd never had that type of issue come up before. Even more striking: I'd been playi...

My PS3 started acting up as soon as I tried to play Resistance 2 right after the update installed. Major bummer. Only made worse by the fact that I'd preordered Killzone 2 on Amazon just before that. Shizzle. I hope they fix this up soon!

For what it's worth, Fallout 3 seemed to freeze now and again on me too - but nowhere near what you've been dealing with. I feel your pain.
