<==== Just canceled my pre-order.
I'm fed up with this kind of sh!t from Activision and their village idiot.
Anyone else canceling (or just not buying)?
I agree. Tacky marketing gimmick.
The original Uncharted themes/wallpapers were pretty sweet so I was hyped to download these... right up until my attention was drawn to that red eyesore of a truck - smack in the middle of every single one of them.
Damn straight.
To anyone who doesn't own a PS3, what are you waiting for?
Edit: @1.5 R:FoM was the reason I bought a PS3 as well, so I agree that game was a system seller (definitely was for early adopters)
So essentially the translation is that no game, no movie, no music, etc, can be considered original if it draws any inspiration from anything else?
Ridiculous.
I would love to hear the author's suggestions on exactly what they would tweak to make it original. Add space marines (I hear that's never been done before)? Or Care Bears with bazookas that shoot demon manure?
But not slick enough to justify $250 (in the opinion of this consumer).
Personally, I'll stick with my PSP 3000.
GoW 1 and 2 are worth every penny. They're simply some of the best games ever made. The combat is a blast, the story is sick, and the presentation is second to none. Next spring can't arrive fast enough.
P.S. Zeus is a candy @ss
Comparisons aside, my interest in this game has waned.
I'll definitely try the demo before I plunk down cash for this game (if it's outstanding, I'll still consider it).
There are too many great games coming out in late 2009 and early 2010 to bother with anything that's not top notch. Between Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, God of War III, and so on, I'm already booked.
- Best launch title ever made IMO.
- Some of the best online multiplayer I've ever played, from when it launched right up to this very day (I still play this over most other online shooters).
- Criminally underrated and under appreciated by most media types.
Even with all the extra trimmings Insomniac threw into R2, I still love R1 more. And I can't wait for R3...
Since that model is obviously no longer made and out of warranty, I feel his pain. My 60 gig launch model got the YLOD a few weeks ago. The goods news is that it is fixable.
Sending it in is one option. If he's comfortable cracking open his console, that's another option - but I strongly discourage that unless he knows what he's doing. If the terms "solder reflow", "thermal compound", "heatsink" don't roll off his tongue, the only real option is ...
I know what I'll be doing tonight when I get home.
Props to Infinity Ward for giving the thumbs up to another GOTY contender. That takes some class.
Much better to see this than grandstanding and insulting the competition.
I just became a YLOD victim this afternoon myself while playing Batman:AA on my 60 gb launch model. It's kind of like losing an old friend * sniff *
So I'm inclined to believe the overall PS3 fail rate is higher than 0.5% too.
If I'm not mistaken, both the YLOD and BRD issues are more common with early models. Hopefully newer models - especially the slim - won't get this at all (or at least even less often).
And I'm still more upset with Microsoft when...
Not too bad. Might have to get this one.
[UPDATE] The game will cost 800 Microsoft Points for the XBOX 360 and $9.99 for the PlayStation 3.
But I might hold out for Dead Nation too (kinda' like Super Stardust HD with Zombies - I'm cool with that, I loved SSHD)
Loved the PC demo.
Can't wait to play the full game on the PS3.
I take that back... I ALREADY HAVE FRICKIN' WAITED FOREVER!
Seems like this has been the primary criticism of ODST.
Amazon may have hit the sweet spot here. When I looked there earlier they discounted the price to $50.99 (no tax, free shipping) with a bonus code for $10 good towards a future video game purchase.
So in effect, you can get ODST for about $40 if you look at it that way (which seems to be in the range where most people deem it acceptable or at least worth considering).
Here's the link for anyone inte...
Hey fellas'
You may want to check out my link above (1.2) if you're considering buying but are holding out for a better deal.
I'm not recommending (I can't, I haven't played it yet), I'm just sayin'.
One of the big criticisms of ODST has been the value for the price.

Translation: it's actually perfect ;0)
Anyone who has problems as a result of this should be allowed to take their dead storage device and use it to stone any MS executive that had a hand in this.
Greedy jack@sses.
