I'm with you on the comparison to Alone in the Dark.
Hopefully Alan Wake will go right everywhere that AitD went so very, very wrong. Personally, I thought that game was crap on every system it was released for.
Edit: @ Blaze, I agree, it looks better and better with each preview. Looking more and more like a day one buy.
Not a big a deal IMHO. Lack of trophy support doesn't make any of the older games worse or less enjoyable.
Don't get me wrong, it's great when they patch in trophy support for older games, but to me that's just icing on the cake.
I'm in the camp that would rather have developers focus on cranking out new games and such instead of backdating trophies.
And if you look at it from a developer standpoint (business standpoint), there is no financial reward fo...
I'm really looking forward to this game.
The extra time they're taking makes me optimistic that it'll look and play great. Especially since they've been clear that the game itself is complete, they're just adding polish and shine.
Agree 100%. I enjoyed RE5 but the RE series has lost its place on the horror podium when compared to Dead Space.
And yeah, if you played through RE5 multiple times to where you could spam the rocket launcher the game can be as easy as you want it to be.
They nailed just about everything when it came to the atmosphere in Dead Space. The scenery, the lighting, the ambiguous sounds from all sides. Hard to believe they did that on the first try with a new IP.
I think what stuck with me the most was that utterly disturbing version of "Twinkle twinkle little star". Masterful.
Yeah, interesting comment about Isaac, huh? Can't wait to see how that last cut scene played out...
The original Dead Space is one of my favorite games of all time, not just this gen.
The atmosphere and presentation were near perfection, IMHO. Heck, it's really more Resident Evil than Resident Evil is nowadays (when it comes to survivor horror).
Or if you want to know the N4G member that everyone should avoid at the risk of becoming dumber after reading his posts, it would be Liquid Ocelot (subtitle: Among Fanboys).
Seriously, why even post a comment like that? Pure flammunition.
I don't know that Best Buy will allow a warranty on these. I think they know exactly how risky a business move that would be. Heck, if you look at the article they won't even allow you to get Reward Zone points for buying one.
And I would think there is no way Microsoft would provide a warranty for these either. Isn't their warranty only good for the original buyer (nontransferable)?
Personally, I think you'd be better off looking for a deal on a brand new 360 - way less of a gamble.
The word "refurb" tends to be bad juju when it comes to the 360 - you might be buying somebody else's problem. This could be particularly true considering these will be older models and thus more prone to the RRoD and such.
I will qualify that by saying it may still be worth it if you can get a Best Buy warranty to stand behind it. Unfortunately, if you l...
I'll give you the cliff notes version without actually reading the article myself (warning: sarcasm to follow):
"Himalayan monks are going to buy the upcoming Yeti Assault Natal game in huge droves. This is a market that's been untapped for years and Microsoft is finally cashing in. They should sell at least an extra 10 systems total because of this, clearly establishing their dominance in the Nepal region. Unfortunately they haven't yet figured out how to get power lines...
I agree. I think MS will need some sort of pack-in game that is enticing, at least decently reviewed (or unique), and well priced in order to get people to buy in.
Personally, I want to see how the games stack up before setting aside money for this.
Especially with the Wii and PS3 motion control options already being on the market by the time Natal hits.
But regardless, I'm not sold on motion controls and I'm not sure most hardcore gamers are either.
There are 2 things I think are key for a good game: 1) Fun and 2) Immersion
If motion control doesn't respond exactly as it should or for that matter even as precisely as a standard controller then it takes away from the immersion. If that happens, yo...
As long as it doesn't disrupt the flow of gameplay and disc changing is infrequent, I'm totally cool with that on my 360.
I'm curious why they couldn't allow for the install though... I like installing all my games to the HD.
@ dchalfont
You speak the truth. I upgraded to an 8800 GT around the time Crysis came out thinking I was sitting pretty. Ha! It played the game decent, but cranking up the settings brought that card to its knees.
Hope this game doesn't do the same to my GTX 275.
@ Lametime,
They could build monuments to commemorate your trolling (hint: that's not a compliment). All the comments you toss out are flammunition.
We get it, you don't like the PS3. Now how's about you get lost if you're not going to actually offer a constructive comment or two?
Personally, I've always had great luck with nVidia cards over the years (usually EVGA). Never tried a ATI Card before but I've been tempted to whenever I upgrade.
Seems like most PC gamers are pretty polarized on this one (ATI vs. nVidia) and tend to stick to one brand or the other.
As long as a card gives great performance and doesn't give me driver headaches, I'd be willing to use either brand.
I love my GTX 275 OC edition. Haven't run into a game that it doesn't run well (and usually easily).
I usually take the same approach as Zagibu => wait until my current card starts to struggle with optimum settings and then start shopping around.
Usually this approach allows more time for prices to fall, too, so it makes upgrading more affordable.
I share your concern about Bioshock 2. The original was amazing and a game I played through multiple times. It just never got old.
The online multiplayer component to Bioshock 2 sounds to me like it could be shoehorned in more so than a natural fit. If they pull it off, color me impressed. But if it takes away from the SP, I'm going to be royally disappointed.
Tangent to that, I'm concerned how many teams are working on Bioshock 2 now as well. I know each team h...
@ The Darkest Red
Indeed. Underappreciated and undersold.
I hope the sales match the reviews this time. It sold criminally poorly/slowly for how good a game it was.
If memory serves, EA was pretty disappointed by the number of copies sold (although still way better than the Wii offshoot), which worries me. The same thing with Mirror's Edge (creative and quality game, but poor financial return). I'd like to see EA continue support of new IP's and in...
