That's as big an indictment of this DRM scheme as you can get.
Nice move by Valve on behalf of their customers & in defense of their own platform.
Take the damn hint Ubi: drop the current DRM and admit you made a huge mistake
...but their new DRM system is not the way to do it. I agree, it only pisses off the people who actually tried to support them.
I won't buy another PC game from Ubi until this goes the way of the dodo.
I'm actually rooting for the hackers on this one (not pirates - just hackers that make Ubi's life miserable), if it helps to get rid of DRM like this.
I've never pirated a game and never will. Sadly, I'll just stay away from their wares completely. I ho...
K? And that is in no way a reference to the quality of your comments. /s
Seriously, they could build monuments to your trolling <--- hint: not a complement
Swallow your pride, buy a PS3, enjoy the damn game.
Zeus, you're on notice - 28 days to live.
Prick.
Dead Space is widely considered the standard for survival horror this gen and is absolutely one of my favorites of all time. Nearly everything was perfectly disturbing about that game.
If Alan Wake can meet or exceed that level of atmospheric intensity I'll be very impressed - but that's going to be very tough to deliver.
Edit: @ Saberedge - uh, you're the first one to throw the PS3/fanboy argument into the mix... :/ Why toss that into the discussion?
@ nycredude
Sorry to hear it, bro. Hard to beat free stuff!
But for what it's worth, it seems like Amazon tends to pack in a lot of these extras (in addition to the reduced price, free shipping, no sales tax, and frequent $10 vouchers for subsequent game orders). At least, that's been my experience.
I got the RF:G code here and last month picked up Forza 3 with 2-3 freebie download codes included. Might be worth a shot next time...
Cheers...
@ Twilight
Me too! I've had that code for the longest time thinking it was for in-game armor or something like that. Very nice surprise.
Big thanks to THQ on this one.
...but I'm looking forward more to BFBC3 than Outdated Glitchfare 3.
Pre-ordered on Steam with a free copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Can't say I mind waiting a few more weeks for release (3/16/10).
I still have to play through the rest of Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 before then. Heavy Rain and Battlefield BC2 are coming out before then, too. And frickin' GoW III releases the same day!
Too many games, not enough time (or cash)! The moral dilemma... what's a gamer - and his wallet - to do?!
This just cemented it.
Everybody can come up with a game being released soon after this that they'd like $20 off of - regardless of platform.
Loved the first one. If Bioshock 2 is near the same quality or better then I think we'll all get our money's worth.
My biggest problem is the following equation:
too many great games released in a short time = not enough time (or money)!
I just got my copy in the mail yesterday and popped it in last night.
I'm on RAVEN and diggin' it.
Any shooter fan really needs to give this game an honest try.
Edit: I think I'm going to bail and go play right now. See ya' online guys.
Ridiculous.
I've got a 500 GB HDD slapped in my PS3 for a fraction of the cost.
On the upside, you can get a Xbox 360 - 250 GB HDD off e-bay on the following link for $73 (shipping included).
I just received mine today. Works great, and it IS compatible with the latest system update. I also bought a 120 GB drive off this same seller in the past and it's performed flawlessly (and he still sells those even cheaper).
Hope this saves at least ...
This game is definitely on my list of "must plays" for this spring.
This guy was totally useless on Elite, if not a friggin' liability (especially on the later levels).
There should be a platinum trophy for not shooting Rico on purpose.
Loved the game. Hated Rico.
And more well deserved props for Uncharted 2. Incredible game.
I'm buying both, regardless of which looks better/worse compared to the other.
It's not like we're comparing a multiplat game.
... I would think that companies offering extended warranties would have a vested interest in knowing about this if it were really a problem (regardless of what manufacturer we're talking about).
Otherwise, 360 version for me
