Hey fellas', just to be clear, I'm not trying to attack your opinion(s) or even really disagree for that matter. Not at all. I just like discussing gaming, and this is a discussion board, no?

And my point is simply that there have been a lot of great RPGs this gen (Fallout 3, Fable 2, Oblivion, and so on) and they all have dedicated fans who may or may not disagree with the statement that ME2 is the best RPG this gen (regardless of r...

But to say it trumps all, well, that's subjective.

Especially considering Demon's Souls is still very much front and center.

There is some good news. If you're out of warranty on your PS3 it isn't too difficult to fix a dead Blu Ray drive or even the YLOD for that matter. I should preface that - it isn't too hard if you are comfortable handling the nuts and bolts inside of the system.

My launch 60 GB PS3 has been through both but I haven't had either recur after a single fix for each of these problems. It actually works and sounds like the day I first bou...

I think we can (mostly) agree that Microsoft royally screwed the pooch at the start of this generation - at least from a quality standpoint.

Making a bunch of last minute changes in the 360's design without considering the form factor & taking the time to adequately test & troubleshoot really came back to bite them.

It would stand to reason that the gradual changes they've introduced have improved system stability, but in effect they've been locked in a battl...

Getting either one sucks.

But my newer PS3 (slim) and 360 both seem to run cooler and quieter.

I just want to be able to play the games I paid good money for - nothing more, nothing less.

I've been waiting for this game for 2 very long years and every second of that appears to have been well spent by the devs.

It looks more unbe-frickin-lievable every time I see it.

Less than 2 months until I make Zeus my b!tch for the last time. Can't wait. On a side note, Zeus is a candy@ss of a god, friggin looks like Kenny Rogers in a toga.

I hope this game turns out well, but I'm not very encouraged.

My distinct impression is that Quantum will either be surprisingly well done or firmly cemented in mediocrity, and I'm leaning towards the latter.

It may not turn out terrible, but it's looking very forgettable when compared to the abundance of high quality shooters already out there.

5866d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

In my eye, Quantum has a lot to prove.

I will say this - the newest gameplay videos look better than last summer's build by far. What I had seen before was nothing but a bland, laggy mess. This at least looks more passable, but Gears sets a pretty high standard if that's what they're trying to match.

I'm going to wait on the reviews & maybe a demo before considering this one.

If it turns out good, then that's just super swell. I'm not going to b...

KZ2's last level or so on Elite can try your patience, but it's rewarding when you're finally done.

*** warning *** potential spoilers

To be honest, I don't remember every step I took in the inner sanctum. The knife works great on the first wave - just get up close the the barriers they jump over and stab each of them as they come down - they won't even see you until it's too late (sprint from one to the next). You might die a time or two, but thi...

True about the Wii skepticism. But it depends on your definition of success => are we talking about system sales, overall game quality, or simply the presence of a few games that prove motion controls CAN work?

The Wii sales speak for themselves. But I don't know that MS and Sony are going to bottle that same lightening. And if the trend is toward Wii-like quality games (some good, most not) then IMHO this is not necessarily a good thing for game...

They have the potential to be pretty slick. But just because they have potential doesn't mean it will be fulfilled.

If it allows me to control a game just as well as a standard controller or adds to the immersion factor, that's cool.

But if it feels like I'm fighting the motion controls rather than simply using them, count me out.

Ultimately, what I don't want is a ton of shovelware like the Wii now has. Gimmicky and utter and total crap has become t...

Excellent action and story and it looks nifty, too.

It's also of good length (not a short game) and offers plenty of replay value IMHO.

I hope plenty of people snap this game up!

I ended up getting both, but I like Darksiders a bit more.

God of War, Zelda, and Devil May Cry are some of my favorite games, and the hybrid idea really is captured well with Darksiders. Great gameplay and what I thought was a cooler storyline.

Bayonetta is still a great game, though. If you LOVE Devil May Cry, you may lean towards Bayonetta.

Ah well.

But for those out there that haven't read any of the Halo series of books, you may want to check out The Fall of Reach (Halo book #1).

It's well written and gives a lot of great back story about Master Chief and the Spartan program in general, even if this game doesn't directly tie in (see above from Moneybuyseverything).

5872d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

I like Darksiders much better. More mature and darker theme, cooler storyline, and I enjoy the gameplay.

Bayonetta is fun and the combat mechanics are outstanding, but it just didn't hook me for some reason.

Should be two great games.

It's a no lose situation.

5873d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Likely record sales and such.

But here's a thought for Bungie: justify it.

Knock everybody's socks off with every facet of the game.

More of the same will simply be a disappointment, not to mention fanboy flammunition for internet chat boards.

Edit: Agreed, don't underestimate GT5, especially since everyone has been starving for this game (Europe most of all).

This article could get the flamewars going... * sigh *

Regardless, I agree with Saaking. Installing to the HDD is usually a good move. It cuts down the heat, wear and tear, disk read error potential (and scratching) and it's a LOT quieter.

The newest 360s seem to put out a lot less heat. And if I'm not mistaken, my newest version came with a smaller power brick.

Gamers who've been at it for a long time (decades) would probably agree that games have gotten easier on default difficulty. The nice thing is that harder difficulties are still available to those who like a challenge. But there aren't many games left like Demon's Souls that let you know from the first minutes of the game that you are simply cannon fodder and meant to die - over and over and over.

My personal list of hardest games from recent memory:
1) Demon's Souls - to...
