Online multiplayer is more of a secondary consideration for me as well.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy online MP when I play. But I enjoy a well crafted, immersive SP experience over MP the vast majority of the time.
What I don't get is the need for devs nowadays to feel like they have to weave online MP into every game. For some of them it's just a bad fit. I'd prefer they polish the SP to perfection (as much as they can) rather than tacking on MP that's not well ex...
You do know that it doesn't cost extra to have Netflix on the PS3 if you're already a Netflix member, right? Whereas on the 360 you have to be a gold member to stream Netflix. So I don't think was a dumb move by Sony at all.
That was a big deal for me. I had only kept my XBL gold membership for Netflix streaming. Conveniently, my membership expired in early November, just in time for the PS3 announcement.
The game really wouldn't have been so bad on veteran without those d@mn grenades raining down. And I do mean raining. And heatseeking.
It wasn't uncommon for me to have grenades on 4 to 6 sides of me, even while moving continuously in and out of cover. It was incredibly cheap. For instance, even if there was only 1 enemy left on the map you'd still get a bunch of grenades popping up, despite the fact that you're actually looking at the guy and shooting him - and he WASN'T mak...
Kinda' hard to believe it's been 4 years already.
Even though the release of outstanding games has slowed in '09, it's hard to argue with the overall game library of the 360. IMHO, there are some games that are just too good to pass on if you can help it.
Gears is one of my favorite series of all time, regardless of platform. The argument could be made that the 2nd game wasn't a major advance over the 1st, but the gameplay is so ridiculously enjoyable that it's har...
Most people are going to buy it for their console of choice regardless of what's said.
All too often articles like this serve as nothing more than flammunition.
Why would Sony move back a powerhouse that other developers/publishers should be afraid of?
If anything, March is overbooked BECAUSE OF GoW III.
Personally, that's the only game in town for me when it releases. The rest can wait.
Edit: I shouldn't say the ONLY game in town (GT5 is a given)
@ Raz & Prunch
The GoW demo is absolutely breathtaking, especially if you have a HD TV (I got my Amazon code a few days ago for preordering - the demo alone would have made it worth every penny).
After playing the GoW 3 demo and seeing remastered screenshots of the first 2 games I may just have to pick up the collection too.
By that I mean dedicated servers should have been an automatic inclusion for the PC version and never even up for discussion for cutting out.
The same goes with the removal of custom mods, maps, etc.
These are some of the major reasons why PC gamers chose the PC platform to begin with. Taking these features out is a gigantic blinking neon middle finger to that customer base.
This smug jack@ss can never keep his idiotic trap shut for long.
As long as he's with Activision I will be buying all their games used.
So go ahead, Bobby, outsell Uwe Bol and brag about it. You'll still be a useless pr!ck.
Sure.
Then IW and Activision will have no objections to "waiting and seeing" if they get my money or not.
Sorry - double post (I hate those, my bad)
...bullsh!t
How about giving some real answers rather than deflecting or tossing out PR spin.
"Answers" like this - if you can even call them that - are only going to fan the flames.
I kind of wonder how the PS3 version stacks up to the PC version. The PC demo was pretty good.
How? I canceled my preorder.
Activision & IW have p!ssed me off to the point where I'm not buying this new.
I may buy it used someday, but I refuse to give these guys a single dime, deal or not.
You can make the argument that overall Lair was a disaster of a game, but both games deserve credit for their technical accomplishments - they were gorgeous to look at.
Uncharted was a graphical cut above those 2 games, as was R&C, but the power of the PS3 was evident before the release of those classics.
P.S. IMHO the most jaw dropping videogame scene to date is in the original Uncharted in the jungle looking down on the stranded U-boat as the sun set - absolut...
@ ShadowCK
Wow. Or perhaps better off without you.
If you're willing to indiscriminately throw your dollars towards a game/developer/publisher that's trying to see how many corners they can cut and get away with, you're actually part of the problem.
But oh, that's right, you're also all for paying whatever ridiculous price on peripherals that Microsoft asks (comment 1.14 on the following link).

LOL. Well played! I like your title way better.
