Possibly the best launch title ever in my opinion. I was hooked on the online multiplayer and played like a twitchy crack addict until Resistance 2 came out. I still go back and play the original to this day, but I'm glad I didn't miss out on those early days.
Hell yes. What kind of question is that?!
IMHO, the launch versions were the best, most complete versions of the PS3.
That doesn't take away from the newer versions, but I wouldn't trade my 60 gb for anything.
Yup, more RAM would be a nice addition (more RAM is never a bad thing!).
But talk of the PS4, or next xbox for that matter, is premature. This gen is just starting to stretch its legs and will probably stretch on longer than past generations - if for no other reason than the financial health of the major console players.
You bring up a good question. But I think the answer may be more complex than Joker vs. GTA4 DLC.
A lot of people judge a game based on the core game alone if they have no intention (or are unable) to get the DLC anyway.
With Grand Theft Auto I think gamers fall into 2 camps.
1) Those that play it religiously and complete everything (DLC included).
2) Those that never even finish the single player game.
My understanding was that the majority...
Especially if you have 2 HIGH DEF tv's (and even more so if you're going to be gaming on both tv's).
I don't have a Bravia, but the new auto-interface connectivity is interesting.
But the slim looks better than I thought it would.
Some of those rumored slim designs were flat out fugly!!!
You can get a replacement on ebay for like $70. It's actually a pretty easy fix to do by yourself. Perhaps a bit tougher than upgrading a pc graphics card, but not too bad (and there's lots of online guides on the topic).
My 60 gb launch had the diode go bad this past winter after tons of hours of gaming. I had it fixed and put back together in about an hour.
The slim does look nice though. I think I'll pick up one around the holidays for the basement.

That's the ease of developing on 360.
Anyone care to take a stab at how much the same game would have cost on ps3?"
***************************** ********************
So let me get this straight. You open up the door for a discussion of PS3 development costs with what could be construed as a thinly veiled anti-PS3 sentiment (while boasting about the 360). Then you get irked when ...
...I'm not sure they'll be able to do it. Shrinking hardware is a combination of technical advances and smart design. The 360 can be a powerhouse machine when it's in the right hands, but it truly was a poorly designed system right from the beginning (any non-fanboys should be able to see that).
Anyone burned by red lights (2, 3, or however many or whatever pattern), disc drive issues, etc, would likely be hesitant to drop money on another one - no matter how small/skinny they ...
I thought Gears 1 and 2 were great games, too, and I still pop them in my 360 on a regular basis. I really don't give much thought as to their budget or profits. But...
...with all this money EPIC has been raking in (and lets not forget the DLC portion that's made them tons more), for the life of me I can't get over the lack of dedicated servers. The lag can drain all the fun out of online matches.
I love Xbox live, except for this. The PSN gets railed for not be...
With any game, the cost depends on how the developers approach it. And this article really doesn't speak to the state of PS3 dev costs.
With Gears, the engine has been developed for some time and tweaked, which obviously saves money front. Other devs that employ the Unreal engine (and know how to use it) can also save on costs.
At launch, the PS3 didn't really have any middleware engine made for sharing. But this has been changing, and studios that have become ade...
If you take into consideration the fact that people that have had hardware failure are more likely to participate in such a poll, then it's a logical conclusion that the percentages for each console are jacked up at least somewhat. And the PS3 has been on the market long enough to pretty much demonstrate that a 10% failure rate isn't really reflective of what's going on in the real world (we've all seen articles discussing the failure rates of all systems, haven't we now?).

Another week, no mention of it... * sigh *
Not sure what kind of bug is holding back the release. Better call in the Orkin Man.
Aside from zombies and bullets, Dead Nation and LFD aren't really all that similar. This is definitely not a "Left For Dead Killer", but I don't think it needs to be.
Actually, my initial impression is that this could be better than LFD. I liked Super Stardust HD more than LFD (the single player anyway), and this looks kind of like SSHD with zombies - that's not a bad thing (looks fantastic).
It would be a crime to not buy this game if you own a PS3.
It's rare that games that are BOTH worth every penny AND define their generation. The God of War games are precisely that - no matter how many or how few people buy them. Even if you chalk the series up as "simply hack and slash", you have to give some props to the epic story. I mean really - this guy brings the pain to Zeus and anything else unfortunate enough to get in his frickin' way - 'nuf said.
...
The original on the PS3 was just not as good compared to the xbox 360 and PC versions. I enjoyed the game, but without a doubt it had more issues on the PS3 - particularly frame rate issues.
But if recent history is any indication, I think Capcom has their PS3 programming pretty much up to par with the other platforms (RE5 - I'm looking at you).
Everybody should get to enjoy the awesomeness that is blowing up huge bugs.
... I agree, this should be it. The multiplayer can be so frickin' awesome - and then this rears its head and can wreck just about any match. Maddening.
I'm curious where his tie-in to the story leads to as well. I'm reading "Jacinto's Remnant" - which takes place after the end of Gears 2.
Nothing in there yet about this guy aside from more of the back story, and I'm about 1/2 way through.
And a number of those pages were duplicate pictures of the R-type boss.
I disagree with most of the list anyway. I didn't think RAAM was all that forgettable (and at least he was more of challenge than the boss at the end of Gears 2).
The only thing I really agreed with was the armadillos from Ninja Gaiden 2 - that was truly some cheap sh!!
They both look great and quite similar. And that's exactly what developers want. It doesn't benefit them to makes games that look definitively better on one console. So I think we can all throw some water on those flames, aye?
The days of inarguably superior/inferior versions of multiplats are pretty much gone (aside from the Wii - sorry guys).
But, for those still interested in a good console vs. console p!ssing contest, exclusive games are probably a better baro...
