Agreed. Apparently they're eager to bite the hands that feed them.
They better consider monetizing online multiplayer very carefully before going forward with it => the increased profit from that may be offset by fewer players participating/playing.
Side note: Didn't Activision indicate they were largely responsible for the recent XBL price hike - or something to that effect (basically a hidden charge for CoD online MP)? If so, did this moron fo...
@ Kurt
I feel your pain.
I can't even count the number of times that I've tasted defeat going after that trophy. But I also can't stop myself from trying every now and again...
That says a lot about the game. Wipeout HD is just a blast - even when you're getting your arse handed to you by some sadistic dude named Zico.
Agreed.
Though for a second I thought that pic was of Apollo Creed. Now that would have been old school cool - especially if he came with the smack talk.
There's plenty of games that prove that.
GT5 just happens to be one of the headliners, and one of the best games this gen.
Love cars? Love racing? Then do yourself a favor and play this game! It would be hard not to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it.
Most of the time I've spent with GT5 has been appreciating the scenery and the premium cars. It looks bloody awesome on an HD screen, and racing fans shouldn't miss this title.
Granted, the flaws that are present have been noted by several sources, but IMHO they're overblown.
Graphically, yeah, the standard cars are a little "meh", but I think any driver worth his salt spends most of their time in the premiums anyway (and tweaking the h...
Couldn't have said it better, ct03.
I've bought more games on Steam than I've had time to play, and most of those purchases were on sale with prices too low to pass up.
My wallet is quaking in fear of what's to come this month...
Edit: I agree with Substance - Metro was under appreciated. Great graphics, excellent atmosphere. The only complaint of mine was the gunplay didn't quite measure up to the other aspects of the...
I'd given up on this title months ago after the website went black.
I'm curious if they've even done anything development-wise in the past year or two - I can't remember seeing anything at all (not even the occasional screenshot update).
Was there ever any doubt?
There have been some awesome games this year, but this one is friggin' gargantuan.
Tons of racing fans have been waiting for this game. Hell - a lot of them bought a PS3 just for this game (or have been waiting to buy a PS3 until it is released).
How would you say it compares to W@W on veteran?
Is the challenge still based on grenade spamming BS (cough *** cheap as hell *** cough)?
Just curious. Thanks
(I haven't played it yet => working my way through another couple games first)
GoG = Good Old Games (at least, that's the most common acronym I'm aware of). GoG provides a nice download service. Never had any probs.
Still, I've come to love Steam over the years. Hell, to me Steam is synonymous with PC gaming - period. You could argue that they've given PC gaming stability where others haven't => a place where Microsoft itself has been conspicuous by their absence while they've promoted their own platform.
@ dinkeldinkse & LastDance
Appreciate the heads up, fellas. Bubble for each.
I've never bought a GOTY edition before, so my running assumption was that they would've inevitably worked out the bugs by the time that edition rolled out. Guess that proves the theory about assuming anything, aye?
Sad that they wouldn't have GOTY releases polished the best of the bunch...
Not all of my numerous saves were wrecked, but most of them were.
Manual save, quick save, auto save - each type was affected. Supposedly this was at least partially patched...
I'm sure a lot of people had no problems, and that's great. But if you scour the forums you'll see boatloads of poor suckers like me...
Too bad. It's an awesome game, but this set me back 24 hours of gameplay (grrrr).
Waiting for the...
Reviews for both were disappointing if not plain bad, weren't they? Kind of makes screenshot comparisons a mute point...
I was hoping one if not both of these games would rival Punch-Out on the Wii or completely blow it out of the water.
Sounds like we'll have to keep waiting.
I got the same e-mail.
Funny that the placeholder dates vary by country => seems like Amazon France (or another country's Amazon) had the new date as 12/17.
Regardless, fingers crossed for a release asap! I can't imagine a delay that would put the release after Christmas.
I haven't bought Move or Kinect yet => I'm waiting for more games & reviews. My wife is interested in Kinect (the casual market), but this is what worries me as a die hard gamer...
"Act naturally, in other words, and for the most part, Kinect can tell what you're up to. The trouble is, sometimes it can't. Kinect tends to process slow or exaggerated gestures without a problem, but badly garbles fast or subtle ones.
Whether the pro...
Ninja Theory displayed a fair share of bravado leading up to the release, making their game out to be something it wasn't.
Then they churned out this game with:
1) Animation & frame rate issues - particularly bad at times when things get intense (PS3 version here)
2) Clunky and fairly shallow combat
3) An anticlimactic WTF type of ending
4) Short length (without a "bang for the buck" factor to make u...
That's a ton of games, and not all of them could possibly be good.
For simplicity's sake, figuring the average retail game has 1,000 Gamerscore, that'd make for completing every achievement for 500 games. Logic dictates there simply aren't that many games out there in the "good" to "great" range.
I own a ton of 360 games and my potential total Gamerscore is a fraction of what this guy has.
Conclusion: Thi...
When I'm immersed in a game the last thing I'm thinking about is how many other people bought it.
If a company makes a great game and then turns a huge profit, that's great from a gamer standpoint since it means we'll probably see more from that dev/publisher.
But otherwise, sales are more a corporate/stockholder/investor concern (not to mention flammunition for fanboys to rant about).
This would be a total turnaround from what they announced.
If they try to sell this at full retail price, that's a slap in the face.
I'll wait to see what they sticker it at when it finally rolls out.
I doubt Sony would complain about the marketing of a game that's being released on their platform (as well as PC & 360).
But as far as Sony's marketing history... Yeah, it was pretty questionable in the early years of the console. Now: Kevin Butler, baby.
