Ken Lobb went out of his way to mention that putting out more shooters is something they want to avoid.
I think that's @DrugLord's point. Sony trumpets from the mountaintops that their studios have stuff ready to be revealed (if not the titles they're working on). MS tends to confirm when people ask but generally keep quiet until a game is close to release.
I think the surprise is more that there are Q1/Q2 games not yet announced. Clearly all three (and 3rd parties) have a bunch of stuff to talk about (PAX, E3, TGS, GDC...) but while we know Sony's early 2015 plans (at least part of it) there is very little known about what MS will release over the next 6 months.
As much as the initial comment comes off a little heated it is pretty well spot-on. Last gen I got swept up in the Wii hope train and then bought a PS3 a year later. It was my main console for the majority of the 7th Gen. Loved it to death (defended it all the time to my Xbox buddies) and despite Uncharted, R&C, Resistance, Wipeout, MGS4, Pixel Junk anything (I can make this list go on for a while) there were games that never made the light of day that had me salivating when they showed t...
They let the trademark lapse.
End of the day it didn't do anything that could be considered genre-defining anymore. So many games have a rewind feature these days it's not worth building an IP around it
@Concertoine I don't think sales had much to do with it (Phantom Dust sold mush worse)
I wish Cloudgine would make Blast Corpse as a stop-gap game between now and Crackdown. Doesn't need a story at all really. Just re-make the first one but make everything crazy destructible. Maybe make it drop-in MP. Place it in a bunch of cities before the desert instead of being spare like on N64 (which was for obvious reasons)
Shoe me what the "real" Rare has been doing since then and I'd be inclined to have an opinion.
I personally don't see what the big deal is. I pre-ordered games long before DLC incentives were a thing and I will continue to do so if it's a game I really want to play anyway (in which case putting my money down early gets me something that I wouldn't get if I waited a week and bought the same game at the same price anyway)
I think, if anything, pre-order bonuses need to be a little more robust (I like physical things) and DLC needs to be curbed in general. By ...
@Ciporta1980
Because every console launch talks about potential that is immediately realized within the first two years of its lifecycle. Obviously cloud compute must be a lie if a bunch of cross-gen and multiplatform games haven't already used it in full by now...
Fighting fire with napalm doesn't work either. It hurts your eyes due to frame rate and resolution? Calm down. It looks fine on Xbox One, a little better on PS4
That's... not a lot of games
Forcing Kinect by making software for it?
Wat?
(for the record, 360 Kinect support had as much to do with 3rd parties that wanted in as much as MS)
@MrSec84 It bears repeating that this is NO DIFFERENT from Home. You could do the same things in the PS3 version (mini games, events etc.) If UKmilitia's opinion is based on Home then they are very accurate
@MrSec84 I take it you didn't play around with Home at all, there's more than just the opening hub, there are the same types of games and events and it wasn't that fun
I like all the disagrees toward an obvious observation.
People, use logic. Yes, this game looks visually stunning and unique. The DoF/motion blur and hyper-realistic tones ads to a Greta looking game. RaD is a talented team. Don't be morons and think that they aren't being VERY smart about their resources. Close-quarters, fog, artistic blurring effects and black bars are all allowing this game to look like it does. If this was on either of the two competitors consoles people ...
These situations always put my on the fence. On one hand, glad I bought it and supported the developer. On the other, wish I had waited to nab it for half of the price...
That said, FANTASTIC game. Great mix of new-school and old-school game play styles. Do not pass on this is you are undecided. Definitely worth the $32 asking price (and more)
Knowing virtually NOTHING about Minecraft, I think this is awesome for Telltale as it seems almost entirely up to them where the narrative goes. Obviously MS will have final approval, but outside of "Steve" and Creepers there (doesn't seem to be to my knowledge) any defined characters or story to this at all. The world is their oyster, so to speak...
Final Fantasy 7 is getting an HD remake? That's news to me...
Will be interesting to see more game play footage, the ultra combo and the stage finisher...
Opinion stuff takes sides for sure but the majority of the article is based on SDK data so... probably legit.
Phil said DX12 won't make a huge difference to Xbox but has also maintained that there isn't a huge difference between Xbox and PlayStation's capabilities. I think he's speaking more to "don't expect Xbox to turn into a 4k 120fps monster because of this update.
