What a pointless article...Arm-chair dev journalist gives his insights and other console warrior armchair devs follow in the comments... *sigh!
Keep calm people, enjoy your games and wait for hard numbers on DX12 when it is released and used for game engines.
Meanwhile:
GIVE ME SOME POPCORN! :)
I don't get it either. I wouldn't miss kinect for the world. It so much improved how you communicate with your entertainment system that I can't go back to a time where there was no kinect! And Cortana is an addition to that.
I bought the Xbox One on day one because to my taste it has been the only next gen console, feature wise, and I prefered the game line up. So for me the upcoming update is further improvement of that. The new UI will be fun! :)
Thank you!
Both games look pretty much the same. Minute differences. On what platform you game depends on your prefence. What are some ppps worth compared to your favourite controller?
If you like a specific console environment better, would you trade off features for marginal graphical differences?
I get it, if the game would look like s**t on one platform, that you would get the significantly better looking version. I mean really huge differnces lik...
Toussaint will be an interesting location! I like that place from the storyline in the books. Might get a bit nasty if Yen and Fringilla are in the expansion :)
If a sport game like PES is sub 1080p, yes then it has something to do with the engine. I mean they have nothing especially innovative going on compared to FIFA.
Huge gameworlds in BF4 and DAI is something totally different and more related to hardware vs game design, where Xbox has to make more trade-offs to reach certain other things.
I do not believe the same for a sports game in a defined sports-arena area.
I have two external drives hooked to the USB ports on the rear side and hidden behind my cabinet. Elegant solution without adding that hiddeous observation deck to my honey-unit, lol.
I bet that thing has a bad influence on the airflow of the cooling system, too...
The Fox engine is a mess for Xbox! I am not worried about the resolution of PES and MGS. The performance of Fox engine games has nothing to do with Xboxs' capabilities, it shows how important designing an engine around specific hardware and memory systems is. Clearly Fox engine was built for PS3 and PS4.

@Cobra:
The controller is a major upgrade with new materials and swappable/reprogrammable parts. Hence it is worth the price and aimed at a gaming enthusiasts group. Everyone else can play on the already awesome standard controller.
From arstechnica:
"The heavier controller benefits from a soft-touch plastic paint top-coat—whose "two-shot process" of manufacturing supposedly means that none of its materials will fade in color—along with...
I like the current formfactor of the Xbox One. It is a classic design, timeless and fits perfectly next to my AVR in my home entertainment system without seeming like a "toy".
A new formfactor wouldn't have too much of an impact on sales. Xbox is doing great. It's just that PS4 is doing incredible. Things like new UI features/improvments and games is what MS should focus on and at Gamescom they showed that they did!
"Kudo Tsunoda is basically the Phil Spencer of the Xbox gimmick division. His input on Kinect along with Mattrick's is the reason why you early X1 guys dropped an extra $150 for no reason at all. He's still there and now he's working on Hololense which means more dumb a$$ games from him and his team. He also went on various shows and lied about Kinect."
I dropped the extra 150 for kinect and day one fun. I can't imagine interacting with my home enter...
What a clickbait video!!
Again a case which shows Xbox is harder to optimize for. Nothing gamebreaking to see here and this game is no benchmark for X1s power, but another example that shows PS4 is currently more straight forward to program for.
Forza 6 in 1080/60 shows, that the capabilities of higher resolution are there.
Other example, if true: MGS Ground Zeroes and PES 2015 720p and now MGS Phantom Pain and PES 2016 in 1080p.
I feel good. Bought the console day one with one game bundled and kinect for 489 bucks.
I am playing X1 for almost two years now and the gaming value I seized from that is something I gladly endure compared to waiting two more years for a few bucks of price drop or some bundles.
Early adopter is no risky business with consoles if you exchange gaming time into dollar value.
VR is a niche produkt and always will be as long as you have to wear a clunky "helmet" to play.
Don't get me wrong the tech is awesome and there certainly will be fun games to play, whether on occulus, morpheus or elsewhere. But I don't see myself getting home from work, exhausted and ready to play games laying lazy on the couch by using this "helmet" where I need to sit straight or even stand.
It would be a dust collecter only getting into action...
Me too! X1s Kinect features are awesome and changed the way I interact with my home-entertainment. Can't imagine living without it anymore, lol :)
I think it is a sales numbers dependent deal. The higher the sales on X1 the longer the exclusivity. I think something between 6-12 months.
But that's only me guessing.
You forgot the /s at the end of your comment!
I play plenty of RPGs on Xbox.
It is sad!! I don't get it either.
We have three big console competitors who push each other every gen. None of them can rest on their laurels of past achievments without getting heat from the competition. It is great for us customers. And none of these 3 will or should be stopping to design the platforms we love to game on!!!
