I wouldn't call it a dumb idea! It will lead to a weaker start maybe, but till the holidays it shouldn't really matter. I for one am still pretty busy with Halo 5 and Forza 6, so I will get TR around christmas cause I will have some vacation days to spend on gaming then :)

It is all am matter of how you built your engines and use it for these platforms. Both platforms are capable of beautiful games with lots of stuff going on on screen. The differences are not that big, depending on the used engine.

It is a kickstarter game created by 4 people, what do people expect??!! PS4 is easier to develop for and I would be highly impressed if 4 devs that are developing an game for 3 platforms would have invested a big chunk of time into X1 optimization:

I am pretty sure the eSRAM has been in the design from the beginning as an evolution of the eDRAM setup of the 360.
If used right the eSRAM has its strengths, especially in tiled resources applications. Xbox will perform better with the evolution of game engines, so we will see that it remains where it is now performance-wise, closely behind PS4.

@ Septic:
I agree, the preview built caused some hard resets with some versions. I had to hard reset the console several times the last weeks. But stability and spped should further improve after the official launch since they should use debug code for the preview that should not be necessary for the finalized version.

Sales are important to an extent, I agree with that. But I think they both are on a level where it does not mean that much anymore. As I see it, you have two big enough install bases (Sony clearly the bigger one) to ensure almost the same amount of 3rd party games (with exclusive deals on both sides).

So far 3rd party games play the same on both platforms. Minor graphical differences aside, the games are identical.

Last console I owned has been the SNES, I played on PC since then. I came back to console gaming this gen and went Xbox because I like the exclusives, controller and features better.
I also have an all MS environment of Surface, Xbox and Lumia. Features are key for me, it is simple as that. I couldn't care less about numbers.

Edit:
Coming from PC is one of the reasons I don't get this whole fanboy BS! On PC I played for fun, but since I went console a...

Why would Xbox need any kind of saving? It is doing great and offers great games. So is PS4, PS4 is just doing even better. Both consoles are healthy.
What else would a gamer want?

Who cares??!!

I play games, not numbers!!!!

Recalibrate dude, mine works 9 out of 10 times. I recalibrate after each system update. The right calibration is so crucial for this gorgeous device. Could not imagine the xbox experience without kinect, wouldn't miss it for the world.

I never had any serious issues, apart from lizard squad day last year. But apart from that nothing except maybe the occasional 20 minutes xbl downtime twice a year. I think Xbox continues to be the best and most reliable place to play online.

Nothing new on 3rd party here. As with almost all multiplattgames, they look almost identical. Minor differences, only noticable when doing picture by picture analysis. Nothing gameplay breaking.

And it is almost certain now, that it doesn't matter.
You do not need to lead sales to have success! Clearly there is still room for improvement but Xbox is successfull nontheless!

For a beta it looks fine to me:

Resolution is not everything when it comes to graphics quality!!

I don't need splitscreen anymore, so it is fine by me. When I was younger and had my friends over for playing it was fun, but today we all live in different locations and have a tight schedule with work and family. The only way to play together is via online connection.
So for me it is a win to get 60 fps and enjoy smooth gameplay mechanics for playing online with my friends. But I can understand peoples gripe if they still have the opportunity for couch coop.

So far they added some of the big AAA games around 6 months after release (Fifa 15, DAI, UFC, NBA, Madden, NHL). I think it is a great value and you don't have to wait that long for releases into the vault if they keep that pace :)

"After this year and a few games next year there is not much to expect. I don't know how they are going to turn that around this time."

What!!!!??? How do you come to that conclusion? Phil Spencer is investing in 1st party and there are huge games to come next year and I bet there will follow some more over the next years. If anything I expect increasing numbers of 1st party content.

So far it still is Sony who has to prove a big 1st party line...

Since PS4 and X1 have an SATA II chipset, SSD and SSHD bandwiths are limited to 3 Gbit/s. So you don't gain speed to its full potential.

If you are looking for speed on X1 use an SSD and connect it through USB since USB 3.0 has 5 Gbit/s which uses the SSD to its potential.
