If Assassin's Creed III, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City, and Darksiders 2 can't sell more than 125,000 copies on Wii U, then there's no way in hell that Dead Island: Riptide was going to break 100,000.
It would pretty much be a guarantee that they would lose money by making a Wii U port.
And that 720p on current gen consoles was actually upscaled from 704p for memory and performance reasons, so the resolution will see a slight improvement as well.

You left out two of the most respected game journalists in the industry: Jeff Gerstmann (GiantBomb) and Adam Sessler (Rev3). Both gave it a 3/5. A good score, but not up to the caliber the series is known for.
Also, the game is launching with four maps for competitive multiplayer, and there's no horde mode. That's crazy.
Truth is there are many reasons to be critical of this game. Just like there are reasons to compliment the game.
64 is fine if the map is big enough (maps like Kharg, Caspian, Oman, Armored Kill and End Game maps). I think they made smaller maps in BF3 to appease the lower player count on consoles. 24 is perfect for maps like Bizaar and Siene, but way too low for Caspian or Kharg.
Personally I hope they have 8 or so huge maps for 64 players and then smaller versions of those same maps for 32 player matches. That way people can play in big battles or smaller battles.
Exactly. Killzone and Destiny will be your Sci-Fi shooters. COD is your "arcade" shooter. Doom is Doom and Unreal Tourney is Unreal Tourney; each has a dedicated following. The only game that might play like Battlefield is the game that Respawn is making. Even then, that's only two "simulation" shooters.
Personally, I think BF4 will come out on next-gen consoles Spring/Summer 2014 while Respawn's game will be out Holiday 2014 in an attempt to ...
You know, I don't get how Sony keeps missing the obvious paint scheme for a God of War themed Dualshock:

It's so obvious.
(I apologize for my poor MS Paint skills)
I'm not spending $387-$440 to play Bayonetta 2.
@THEMIGHTYDOOVDE
To be honest, I'll be shocked if the base model PS4 costs more than $399 at launch. From what I've read, the console assembled with packaging and accessories will cost about $450-$500 to produce. So a $50-$100 loss would come out to $399. That's a very manageable loss too considering the PS3 cost over $800 to build at launch.
In GTA you can pick a woman up off the street, park in an ally and have sex with her, then shoot her in the mouth with a sawed off shotgun and take all of her money.
How exactly is that admiring a woman's beauty?
@DarthJay
gamejediben said it was successful, not worthwhile. And he/she is correct, from a sales standpoint Kinect has been successful.
On the software side? I don't think there's a single game worth playing on Kinect. But if people are dumb enough to buy the thing, Microsoft will stick with it.
I obviously don't speak for everyone (and I know you're not either), but I just wanted to throw out that 36 of the 54 games I own on PS3 are PS3-exclusive. That comes out to 2 out of 3.
I bought COD4, played a ton of it in college, then sold it to a friend. Haven't bought a COD game since.
@Jobesy:
"Sony "moneyhatted" just as much and got many 3rd party games that were the definitive version. Bioshock with better graphics, ME 2 with all content and extras included."
I don't think you know what moneyhatting is. It refers to the practice of giving a developer money in exchange for preferential treatment (timed exclusivity, exclusive dlc, etc.) to your console. So no, Sony did not moneyhat with regards to Bioshock or Mass...
Killzone: Shadow Fall will be running in 1080p at 30fps. It's not yet known (to my knowledge) if the footage they showed was developed for 4GB RAM or 8GB RAM. If it's 4 (which I think is likely), then their next game could very easily be 60fps.
I was hoping it would go gold early. Five weeks means gaming sites will have their copies with plenty of time to play it, plus Take-Two will have plenty of time to whip up a commercial with "10/10 GameInformer, Editor's Choice IGN, 5/5 etc." to entice people who are on the fence or unaware of the game.
This is the funniest post I've read in a long time.
Better graphics won't fix the bad story, or the horrible AI, or the shoehorning of a character from Aliens into the game (that was clearly killed in the movie) with no explanation whatsoever, or the fact that you fight humans more than you fight Xenos.
My money is on the Wii U version getting canceled. Wii U owners needn't be upset though. The game is an abomination. Be glad you weren't one of the many tricked into buying it.
Week 1 sales:
PSAS: 127,000
SSBB: 842,000
First 10 weeks:
PSAS: 410,000
SSBB: 4,410,000
I'm lost...
He was making a light-hearted joke.
Chillax my friend.
Ha, normally I'd agree with you, but they pushed Uncharted 2 and 3 pretty hard in the ad department.
They always give a big push to their heavy hitters like God of War and Uncharted. Not so much for games like Starhawk and LittleBigPlanet Karting though which is a shame.
Nice avatar btw. RAMPAGE!!!
GOPRO?! Oh God, please tell me Battle Recorder is back. I know PS4 has vid capture now, but full in game replays would be awesome for all systems.
