I didn't read the article (just the blurb), but for every handful of long-running franchises that need to die is a long running franchise that did it right.

Take Metal Gear Solid for instance. Metal Gear Solid was a Playstation release in 1998. Sons of Liberty came three years later on the PS2 with big changes. Another three years later and Snake Eater was released, which had a very different vibe from SoL. Fast forward to the PS3 (and another four years) and Sons of ...

Damn, forgot Sorcery and Dust 514 (although I thought that was a PSN game). I didn't include Ni No since it's also on 3DS, and I don't include HD remakes (although I'm gonna plat the hell out of all three Jaks!) since they're not technically original content.

As for FF VS XIII, Square Enix is notoriously slow at getting games out, which is why I left it off the list. My guess is Spring 2013, but we'll see.

Nevertheless, it's gonn...

If true, the PS3 will see the following exclusives this year:

Twisted Metal
MLB 12 The Show
Starhawk
Sly 4
God of War IV
Syphon Filter 4

and hopefully

The Last Guardian
The Last of Us

Yeah I get a kick out of articles that claim a game is over-hyped or sucks simply because it doesn't sell. Case in point: Okami.

Okami sold less than a half a million copies on PS2. They had an install base of over 100 million consoles, over 20 million of which were in Japan. Yet it still coudn't pass 500,000 sold. Doesn't mean it isn't one of the best PS2 games made, let alone one of the greatest adventure games of all time.

Video game sa...

I was happy to learn that not only can we use the unlocked guns on the other multiplayer maps, but there will be a playlist option that lets you play the B2K maps with the current nine (unlike BC2's Vietnam expansion, although they were drastically different than the others).

4 days.

Did you just claim that Avatar had heart, and that people tried (and failed) to match its story?

Avatar is one of the most soulless movies I've seen in a while. And I watch a lot of movies.

I know what you mean. If they're not careful they won't pass Microsoft in consoles sold until 2013.

Gonna spin off topic here, but it's entertaining none the less.

Remember all the trash talk about Sony losing a bunch of 3rd party exclusives? Games like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, etc. There's been one RE game, and it was the worst in the franchise. One Final Fantasy, and many said it took a step back. One Devil May Cry (which was good), and a crap emo-reboot on the way. My point is, the exclusives that Sony lost went to hell.

"None of the newer shape versions have the RRoD problem"

If by that you mean it's now a Red Dot of Death, then you're correct. If however you meant that they do not/cannot die from RROD/RDOD then you're mistaken and/or in denial.

They can still die just like before. Less likely sure, but they can still die.

True that. I remember Aaron Greenberg spouting off the following in 2008:

"The PS3 is a third player, they are at risk of reaching a single digit market share. They are a premium priced product in a tough economic time. They have a tough position to try and sell a product." - December 10 2008

The PlayStation 3 currently has a market share of over 27%. They'll reach at least 80 million consoles sold, despite launching a year later with a $500/$...

Who the f*** approved this? $27.65 is deeply discounted? That's $2.34 off. OH MY GOD I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!

The Director's Cut came out today. It costs $29.99 and has a lot of extras. I'm dumbfounded by both this article and its approval.

Just to let everyone know, Arby's has the same promotion. Buy a 30 oz soda, get a code. So yeah, drink any pop you want. Haha

Nice. This will help launch week sales in a big way. I myself will be picking it up at Kmart ($20 gaming coupon there too), but for those that aren't near one this is just as good.

The only thing that makes me sad is that I have to delegate my time between BF3 AND Uncharted 3 once the latter drops November 1st. I'll literally be forced to stop playing, just so I can play that other GOTY contender.

Sigh...we have it so hard.

Nope. G4 asked this question in the Resistance 3 review. Here's what Morgan Webb had to say:

"Sony is making the PS3’s already confusing and frustrating online system feel unnecessarily punitive, and they are doing Resistance 3 no favors. Even though I am tempted to lower the game’s score because of the Online Pass, Insomniac should not be penalized for Sony’s policy, especially since it seems they are aiming for a multi-platform future."

Actually, this mysterious Sony reveal is a new PlayStation Home. Update 1.55 isn't the "Big Update", as Sony has clarified on the PS Blog:

"Unfortunately, the wrong image was posted, which is clearly causing some confusion. The update coming to Home this Thursday is a much smaller update than the one we announced a few weeks back.

The Hub, Districts (Action, Adventure, Sportswalk, Pier Park) as well as the games included within and the Que...

Not true. PS Plus got me the following PSN games for free that I did not own:

Wipeout HD
Critter Crunch
Shatter
Mushroom Wars

All great games. It also got me six Genesis games: Sonic, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe, Comic Zone, and Altered Beast.

I can't speak for Europe, but the PS1 games the US got for free are awesome. Spiro 1-3, Syphon Filter, Medievil, Jet Moto, and next week we get all three Residen...

Very interested to see what the new games are. In a perfect world, the three unannounced PS3 games would be:

A Hideo Kojima game (MGS5, ZotE, or something new)
Okami 2
Devil May Cry 5 (thus scrapping the filth that is DmC)

One can dream.

Pardon Me, Wish You Were Here, and Adolescence? WTF?! Fuck whoever picked those songs. Should have been Sick Sad Little World, Pistola, and Anna Molly. THOSE are awesome Rock Band songs. The three they chose are boring as shit.
