No, the EyeToy showed us why it WON'T work. Or rather, just how limited the gaming options are for flailing around in front of a camera. All you have to do is try to look at your avatar's shoe bottom to get a sense of just how impossible it's gonna be to get anything better than very general gestures recognized correctly every time.

And these guys are spot on with the Turing Test comment. Like, I'm really supposed to believe that Peter Molyneux has secretly rocketed light year...

Best laugh I had all day.

Made milk come outta my nose (and I'm not even drinkin' milk).

Bubbly-wubblies.

ORLY? Wishful thinking much?

You'd better let folks like 8.0 and 8.1 below know:

"im waiting for my xbox to die..."

That makes no sense, and I repeat, that makes no sense.

Then why is it such a concern of MS to "level" the 3rd party playing field? Just what about it has been unlevel in their eyes, and why have they paid huge sums to companies like Square and Rockstar to buy their way into Playstation franchises?

Obviously Kim is more willing to admit the obvious than you are. Perhaps you feel the mere existence of ANY 3rd party titles, as opposed to actually GOOD ones,...

Regardless of how big/small the Metal Gear game ends up being, I think everyone is missing the key point here.

By saying "...a level third-party playing field. Now we've effectively done that...", Kim is acknowledging that all the previous statements MS made, about what fantastic 3rd party support they had, were LIES.

He's acknowledging that, in truth, MS has been keenly aware all along that their 3rd party support sucks. Better late than never, I guess. ...

Well, at least they managed to post this on a SINGLE PAGE,

A new console, with more powerful cpu, better graphics, and Natal as the standard interface? So how does this not further fracture the 360 platform, and piss off all but the most ardent, blind, by-anything-MS-at-any-cost crowd? All old jokes aside, this really does become a 360 v1.5 system.

I mean, think about it. All the online games where you have people with different hardware capabilities going at it - how does this work? I'm just supposed to sit there are get slaughtered...

Off topic, but I would love to understand the thought process that goes on in someone's brain when they decide to get that EIGHTH system: "Yeah, it broke again, but it's bound to work this time for sure!"

Sorry, but you lost the right to complain about the hardware some time around the fifth failure.

"Doctor, it hurts when I hit myself in the head with a hammer."

"Well, STOP DOING IT!"

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the author fails completely to address the specific criticisms of Natal, much less to "cancel out" anything.

David Cage's comments are vaguely paraphrased, with no quote, so they can be summarily dismissed. Is it possible that he was pointing out the obvious problems posed by lack of any button input for Natal, when contrasted with Sony's controller?

If this author has hands-on experience, then why not a single sp...

Soooo......lag....gy.....

And that's with the help of the outboard processor, no doubt. Can't wait to see how this works on an actual retail 360. And what's with the red jumpsuits? Perhaps very telling, no?

"Natal works fine for all ethnicities. As long as you wear the red jumpsuit."

I loved that zinger: "Look at the Eyetoy. We've had phenomenal success with that on PS2. If Microsoft decides they want to do that for 360 then great, that's fantastic."

Man, the more I watch the videos of Natal, the more laggy it looks, even in the canned demo videos, let alone live on stage. Can't believe people are getting hoodwinked so easily.

^^^^ This seems like a valid question. So I'll answer it with a couple more questions:

Why would MS make lots of overreaching statements about the technical superiority and impending victory of HD-DVD over BluRay?

Why would they continue to claim a 3% RROD defect rate, long after the facts were clearly indicating otherwise?

Why do they continue to beat the drum of "DVD storage is enough", contrary to the obvious?

The answer is th...

Truly unbelievable. All of the breathless exclamations about some canned videos, and a couple of live demonstrations that did NOTHING more than the EyeToy did on PS2. I read one of the articles describing the incredible pit stop performed by a family of four, then I saw the actual video and about crapped myself. What a joke.

I can just imagine the reactions we'd be hearing if Sony had shown up with such a weak, canned, and obviously fake presentation. Now, this may be somethi...

While the fanboys love this stuff, does anyone bother to check the basic premise? It's no wonder Microsoft regularly trots out this "tie ratio" myth. It seems to have the desired effect: give the impression that Xbox 360 owners buy more games than owners of other systems. There is, of course, nothing that actually supports this notion.

1. Like all NPD data, this is US only, right? So we'll just ignore the rest of the world? Strike one.

2. Even if we take th...

Hmmm...that sure didn't seem to be the attitude everyone had when they were "discussing" the bizarro ads Sony came out with.

But don't worry, clearly Microsoft is a major advertiser and knows what they're doing. This spot probably scored extremely well in extensive focus group testing. Just like the Seinfeld ads.

Agree, agree, and agree. The various lens flare effects I've seen so far in the videos look like they took a million bucks to develop, just themselves. The various discrete layers of atmospheric haze & particles in this latest vid are jaw-dropping. The flames almost made my plasma screen melt.

(P.S. "mock my words" - hahahaha!)

Nail on the head. If MS wants to trumpet their prize, and 360 owners want to rub it in, then have at it. All's fair in competitive business.

But what's with all the denial of the obvious? The willing suspension of logical thought? I can only assume that MS, and the self-delusional types who comment on some of these articles, are not particularly proud of these increasingly frequent and obvious pay-offs.

I guess one shouldn't be surprised, considering the shee...

Unbelievable how many gullible people are posting comments here. But then, I guess that was the whole point of this spin piece.

Notice how he (kind of) skillfully uses innuendo to imply that MS did not pay SE for the title. "People just assume...", la-de-da. Why doesn't he just come straight out and say it: "We absolutely did NOT pay one cent to have the game come to 360." ? Anyone? Beuller? Hell, if that's the simple truth, then what's there to hide? ...

Sorry, but all of these fluff pieces sound to me like increasing desperation from the 360 camp. It says an awful lot when someone's no longer boasting "We're the best!", but rather "We're just as good as they are...no really!"
