Yep, the "greatest games lineup in history" did not do anything to boost Xbox One's fortunes. Even the games themselves did not sell as Xbox One owners opted for multiplat games instead of their own exclusivves. Forza 6 and ROTR did not even chart in NPD despite the reviews, marketing and hype.
All of the Xbox exclusives have flopped commercially except Halo 5. Even that is in decline compared to previous entries. Looks like the customers did not find it great enough to actually buy despite all the hype and marketing.
ACtually, this is teh second month on the NPD for the game. It was number 1 on October 2015 NPD. I just realized that and charting for two consecutive months is definitely impressive.
The franchise is definitely in decline with sales and critical reception declining with each entry. Still it has held a position for two consecutive months in the NPD so it is significant achievement. Decline is inevitable for everything and companies have to end a franchise eventually. Better to end it on a high note than dragging it until the bitter end.

Me too. The author was just able to think of a really nice clickbait title. The first game was gorgeous and marvelous. Loved just wandering on the overworld and listening to the music or wandering dungeons and towns looking at the environments. The battle system was fun too.

Witcher 3 is actually much bigger than Fallout 4 which is smaller than Skyrim, if I recall correctly. If buying those exact games cost you more than the subscription you have paid then you got your moneys worth. I loved Walking Dead Season 2, MGSV Ground Zeroes, Rocket League and those three games alone are worth more than $50 so the PS plus sub was a great deal. Both consoles' free games linup is dominated by indies; no console is handing out latest or even year old AAA games every month. You cant possibly expect to get that for paying just $50 annually.

I read the article and I think it gave a reason. The PS4 is easy to develop for so many indie developers and major developers are supporting it. As a result, there are wide range of games belonging to various genres available on the system that appeal to one or another. This is causing people to buy the system including those who did not own a console last gen because they will find something that appeals to them.

That is the sad point. Xbox One owners opted for multiplats instead of their touted exclusives. What was the point of that timed exclusivity for ROTR, lumping all of them together for holiday season and all that marketing blitz? The games failed to perform in the market after all that hype and marketing.
