Are you kidding? The begining of the year yeah, but it couldn't hold on to that lead and even during the holidays who came out on top? (between HD consoles, Wii isn't even worth mentioning becuz its destroying both).
I do believe its time to let this idea of "casual and/or/vs hardcore" Needs to be laid to rest.
You know the sad thing is, PS3 wasn't selling that well this year at all and yet it is up yoy from last year. Makes last year seem abysmal. I guess when you at the bottom the only place to go is up. Well, at least theres killzone 2. That and a price cut should help 09 sales out.

I can finally say I disagree with you! (lol) I loved the first prime, but I enjoyed the 3rd one more. Maybe it was the freshness of the IR control, maybe it was the objective based gameplay, Whatever the case I loved 3 the best.
I love how all of a sudden "sales aren't the measure of success" Since the Wii started dominating. You Sony fanboys sound like the Nintendo 64 fanboys of the 1990s. Ubisoft sucks. They say such assinine things, that really make no sense whatsoever. Isn't the DS userbase split between male/female so DS is a female driven system also? Its such balony. But trust, the fact that women like the Wii is anything but bad. It's awesome really.

It is like people want to ignore this fact that is staring them in the face. Companies are in the red and/or going belly up. Not just factor 5. If you look at R* they had a game sell multi millions of copies and still post a loss? That is a huge problem for our industry.

People wanna justify the PS2's shovelware by saying "but it had better games to outweigh the crap" not true. For one the PS2's library is what 6 yrs old? Give the Wii 4 more years and then judge it. I know it came out in 2000 but what game was worth buying a PS2 for in its first yr or two in existence? the bouncer? gimme a break.
The attempt to insinuate something negative, but in all honesty, the market leading console of EVERY generation has held the most shovelware, its a natural occurence actually. PS2 had heaps of it as well, more than the Cube and Xbox combined..And? Did that stop it from becoming the most successful console so far? Nope.
