"What evidence is there that sales are because of Epic? None at all. If the game was released on Steam it would have sold AT LEAST the same amount as there is no barrier to entry for a PC user having both storefronts."

Right, so if the sales would be the same, except there is a 12% fee per sale vs 30%, I would say they made a perfectly fine choice no? They would have needed to sell more than double the units, not to mention any value they received by launching on ...

@Cruz "All they did was add fuel to the fire for pirates"

yea, because pirate certainly would stop if only games were on Steam...... And noone pirated games before EGS was available....

Honestly, I just really don't care what launcher is used for the games I want to play, as long as the games work well and the content of the game is not hindered. That said, the constant Steam fanboy whining almost has me rooting for EGS at this point.

@srhalo "Funny xbox fans sure seemed to care a lot last gen."

So you agree it is weird to worry about sales, but because you thought it was an issue when "xbox fans" cared about sales, it is suddenly ok now? Some pretty stupid logic. Not surprised though coming from the fanboys on this site.

@hentai "it’s called payback"

Payback for what? I could care less, was just pointing out it is stupid. I would actual...

Idk why people on this site care so much about sale numbers or investor relations spin when none of you are investors or have any stake in these games.

They are happy with the results, that is all that matters. What do you guys get out of measuring sales of games?

The game is good, the community (on the game) is active, and MS is happy with the results. Not really sure how why you guys expect to be told sales or have insider statistics as if that somehow...

@zero no, bandwidth is not the limiting factor really, (maybe in some very minor scenarios) the issue would specifically be most relative to latency and/or potential packet loss. Both of which could potentially make the games unplayable. Though I am doubtful they would release a product without knowing if their platform could handle it. (when not congested, another possible issue)

Pretty sure that is because it is the mode in beta. This guy is just really terrible, definitely have seen better footage. Agree other modes would be nice to see or at least info on it all.

@imalwaysright You clearly didn't read the "this gen" and "made a profit" part of what I said. On top of that I said "basically" meaning specifically, Sony nails it 90% of the time and releases multiple titles per year that are top tier GOTY competitors, selling millions. You pointed out studios with no games or 1 or 2 games this gen. Also, basically, does not mean exclusively, so obviously square and Fromsoft are exceptions to that generality, hence "ba...

@iamalwaysright do you have another dev/publisher this gen in mind? Or just a reactionary thing?

Maybe CDPR, but they made 1 game. Otherwise I guess Nintendo would be next best after Sony. I'll be honest I was primarily considering between xb1, ps4 and PC since those are the platforms with 3rd party support generally.

2492d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

I just love that Sony let's the 3rd party devs handle MP shooty shooty games (for the most part) and puts their focus on making the most well crafted, thoughtful and fun story based single player games. They are basically the only dev or publisher who knows how to make a great SP game AND make it profitable.

Either sony developed or published thos gen alone:
Spiderman, GOW, Uncharted 4, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima (this week), Detroit, Infamous: S...

Nah, if they make the games exclusive to gamepass, why would they care what platform you play on? No reason for timed exclusivity or anything, realistically.

@rachel "That's not what happens in reality if Treyarch and Blops 4 is any indicator."

Why would we use BO4 as the indicator, because it fits your argument? Why did you use BO4 instead of the new COD releasing?

Benefits of MT model:
-People can buy as little or as much as they want
-Most devs include all new maps, weapons and modes that previously would have been split between those who bought DLC and those who didn't
-In many cases allows even somewhat high-end games becomes completely free to enter with no competitive disadvantage
-Allows devs to increase revenue and create continued content to allow them to keep devs employed between projects AND make bigge...

Of course there should be monetization, selling the game at a cost is monetization. The majority on this site's views on MTs are really stupid. Just don't buy them if you don't want them. How is potentially free maps, dlc, content, etc not a better option than 4 $15 DLC packs every 2 months?

Alternatively, are you suggesting you would prefer 60% of games not exist or be worse because they cannot monetize it? You guys act like games are the only industry where th...

While I think it is a bit of a stretch to claim a major difference, the biggest difference is color, which is probably just to optimized for the switch screen.

That said, in all honesty, the game still looks great on Switch, this game is obviously more an artistic masterpiece than a technological masterpiece, but if a couple extra pixels make you feel better, that's fine too. For me, this seems like a great one to buy/play on switch.

Frankly, The wider the availability, the better the games will do. Not a bad idea since games will be available for sale on Xbox, Xbox windows app and Maybe steam this pairs well with games being included on Game Pass. basically, they get the upfront subsidization, (via subscriptions) and post launch sales, which really gives them a much more stable development budget, though we have yet to see if more stable means larger revenue, more investment into games, or better games for that matter. ...

"The full effects of tariffs isnt being felt yet., but it will force inflation, and even of the tariffs go away in the future, things will just be more expensive while these companies make more profit."

That is an awful lot of speculation. Also, not sure you understand inflation, increased prices and inflation are totally different and one does not lead to the other. Increased prices of specific goods may actually decrease inflation, especially if those goods are ...

@zen A and B are different people. You could say A is a democrat, B is a republican. I didn't put it that way because I do not feel that those descriptions would be exactly representative. IDK why using A and B to represent them instead is so confusing for you... Only clunky because you have bad reading comprehension. If I made the same post but used labels you understand (but don't necessarily seem accurate to me) your argument would make you sound very unintelligent.
