I know what this guy is getting at, but no... DD will not be accepted by the public as easily as Blu-ray will be. I suppose he didn't see the Pricewatch article.

I disagree. Guerilla have been hushed because of the controversy surrounding the "trailer", and I'm sure they are working hard on Killzone 2. Look at Valve. Valve are a huge company, and yet there are years between Half Life games and few updates (not including fan made mods) that keep the ball rolling in between. Does that mean Valve sucks? By comparison, other developers churn out dozens of titles in that amount of time.
Insomniac may have their third PS3 game in the ...
Publishers have got to take advantage of Home and implement cool new features that are Home-accessible. I know that adds development time for a feature that can only be taken advantage of by the PS3... but if it's done well, they'll likely sell copies based solely on that additional feature.
Can't wait for Home.
I've looked into the future my friends... and it's Haze-y.
Getting suckered into paying for online play != Better
Apparently not a title typo.
A little surprising, but not all that much. The PS3 is being used just as much as an entertainment system as it is a gaming system.
I agree with you, mate. As realistic a "simulator" as this is, everyone knows that it's still a game. That means nudges, nicks, bumps - those sorts of things that wouldn't cause damage in real life won't cause damage in the game. I think when we talk about damage in GT5, we're talking IMPACT damage.
...but hey, if they want to add scrapes down the side of the door's paint job because I nicked a wall - that's fine too.
What I want to know is... will the Home public environment be the same for everyone? In other words, are you connecting to a single server or one that is segmented? How will that work when trying to meet friends? Will 5,000 people in a single space not make it crowded?
They do look awful. They're old screens - and if the few shots I've seen recently are any indication, well... they've improved the graphics engine a lot.
My 80GB's optical drive died, but I was safely within the exchange period at Best Buy. I took it back but they only had 40's to give. I explained that I wanted the BC, the extra USB ports, blah blah... and made them promise to exchange for an 80 the next time they had some in, even if that's past the normal 30-day grace period. I figure the next time they'll have one is when the MGS4 bundles arrive, and until then I have a 40 to keep me busy...
Luckily.
The SIXAXIS technology is also built into the DS3 controller.
In the mid to late 80's. I remember when it was a huge hit on the radio and on MTV/MuchMusic. It's kind of funny that the song and video are enjoying this bizarre renaissance.
That looks really good actually - I'm impressed. I hope that they've accumulated some sweet content for the PSN store re-launch.
I actually bought one of the last 80GB Motorstorm bundles at my local Best Buy. The optical drive failed on it, and I went back to exchange it but all they had were 40GB units left, so I took an open box 40GB with the express understanding that when a new 80GB came in, it would be mine... even if that happened to be longer than 30 days (their exchange policy). Luckily, they weren't aware (as I was) that the next 80GB's to be coming in were the MGS4 bundles. :)
But yeah... I don't...
Right now the PS3 is the best value for money because of the ability to upgrade the firmware. In two or three years, when BD is more mainstream - go out and buy a standalone BD player if the PS3 playback bothers you that much.
Take it easy on the guy. He's excited. Save your criticism for people that badmouth and spread FUD.
He looks like the ninja version of a PS3!
"Like it or not, DD will be the end of Blu Ray."
Let's be clear here... this DD technology is great, and the fact you can get good quality movies via DD is fantastic. It's NOT the same quality as Blu-ray, however, so it may be an acceptable alternative for some - but it's not going to end physical media (yet).
About six weeks ago they released the first concept art/screenshot which depicted the new design (w/helmet). Looks hot. I don't think anyone then or now will compare it to Master Chief. Kind of reminds me more of Kroenen from the Hellboy comics somehow.
I kind of prefer the regular art - though they're both admittedly cool.
