Well, it's nice to finally hear something positive about a PS3 game for a change.
I like Halo, but I don't think it's the best ever. The plot is more involved than many FPS, but that's not saying much. Once the covenant all starting speaking English in Halo 2, things started getting way too campy, like Star Wars Episodes 1-3.
Gameplay-wise, I think what Halo does best is offer a combat system that's relatively complex and deep while still being slow paced enough that n00bs can pick it up and do well. However, it's not really as refined as it could be; Halo 1...
In my experience, racism in online games has always been white on black. Sure, occasionally you see sheltered suburban white kids (preteen or teen) using 'the N word" who are just trying to piss people off, but then I've ended up on a server with a lot of young adults with southern accents who'll just use the term casually as if it is completely socially acceptable. At one point I was playing Killzone online, and someone said "no, we can't play that clan, there's too many [N's] on t...
This would help out the PS3's fighter lineup a lot. The moment the 360 version's online play was anounced, the PS3 version became a joke, because offline fighters these days are coasters, particularly for games as unpopular as VF5. I should know, I bought both versions of VF4 on PS2, played the sh1t out of the computer for a short while, then never touched them again. My friends tried to learn VF at one point, but they were too lazy to stick with it and gave up.
It's nice that they FINALLY did it, but not only should the first version of T5DR on PS3 had online, the original Tekken 5 on PS2 should have had it! Namco has really dropped the ball by introducing online capability to its games so late when everyone has been expecting online play in fighters since the days of Dreamcast.
LMAO! "OMG UR SO RONG HALO ISNT 4 PS3 KEEP DREAMING U SONY F4G!!1!11"
Just kidding.
Gamespot was the fanboy's last hope for layer to get a decent score...and it's the lowest yet. Suck it up, screenshot whores!
I think it just comes down to the way the hype train shoved Lair in people's faces. I had never even heard of this game up until a month ago, probably because it had nothing that interested me, then someone told me that PS3 fans were calling it an AAA title, and I was like "what, are you joking?". Then, when I started coming to N4G, it was practically impossible not to know because of all the fanboys blathering on about it.
The ultimate issue here is that way too many...
Agreed. I sick and tired of people on N4G declaring games to be AAA titles before they come out just because they have pretty cutscenes. Don't fall for the eye-candy people, this isn't kindergarten.
Someone called PSM 360 fanboys? LMAO.
I think toughName was being sarcastic...in which case I agree. That's all I hear from either side whenever a hyped first party game comes out on either system "omg they must be [insert opposite system here] fanboys". The most hilarious part was when it happened in the Lair/Blue Dragon 1up story, because the games are on opposite systems and both got low scores, but each side said it was because 1up was a fanboy of the opposite side.
It's too bad that the psychology field ignores games because I think gaming culture really shows a lot about how people give in to their habits in various ways and how a hobbies fit into a person's life and how it effects their outlook on the rest of the world. I definitely recomend doing more articles on the psychology of gaming; good work donalbane!
Yeah, it's sad. The majority of the community at N4G tend to be fanboys who just sit there scanning the headlines for "wins" and "scores" for their favorite console, and for "losses" of the enemy consoles so they can get in a flame over it. I think this is a phenomenon is universal to news sites, because most reasonable people don't have to know every piece of gaming related news the second it comes out unless they take personal stock on it...the only people who ...
Fanboys were around way before Xbox came around...I remember seeing the word used to describe Nintendo and Sega zealots in Gamepro circa 1992.
lol, I like how 8 Sony fanboys are just disagreeing with everyone who disagrees with BillGates. It doesn't matter what an ass he makes out of himself or how reasonable the comments are, they just have to disagree cause they're fanboys. So now I'm in line to get disagreed with. COME ON FANBOYS, DO IT UP!
HAHAHA, I like how you got 5 disagrees. 5 fanboys must have read your comment and been like "OMG FCUK U I HATE 360/PS3 AND IF U DONT URA F4G!!1111". That's how a lot of people responded to my "360 vs PS3: It doesn't matter" article...truly pathetic because they're basically just proving how blind they are.
DOA? Alright now you're talking!
I hope dual-wielding and the sword are not nearly so prominent as effective tactics in the final game. The way these guys were playing, it was basically indistinguishable from Halo 2, though hopefully that's because these guys were new to the game so they were just using Halo 2 tactics. Still, with the multitude of extraneous spray-and-pray weapons in this game, I really have a hard time seeing it being as focused on dueling with precision weapons as Halo 1 (not that I want 1 overpowered weap...
These videos show the same matches from the point of view of the guy who doesn't suck. It's much less frustrating to watch:

It's bad enough that we have to listen to fanboys flaming others over game systems and games, now we have to listen to them do it over movie formats? Even worse is these news articles, which contradict each other every few days and have nothing to say other than "my format is selling better than yours". Who cares? I fully expect to see "Blue-ray does HD-DVD's momma last night" (or vice versa) one of these days. What a bunch of petty bullsh!t.
