"China's gaming market"..... Chinese government treat gaming as a nuisance, "regulate" gaming for minors to 3 hours per week. What kink of "market" is this?
No, to the contrary, Far Cry must turn the attention back on the protagonist. Any go single-player-focus game must have a strong (narratively, not physically) protagonist to carry the story.
Under Power, yes; falling behind, not exactly. Switch is still out-selling all other dedicated gaming devices out there. The most successfully Nintendo consoles (Gameboy, Wii, & of cause, Switch) are all under power comparing to their near peers. Nintendo has always been focusing on unique form factor & user-input experience. I'm sure the next Nintendo console will still follow this same successful path, an under-power yet unique machine.
(Roughly) over 13 million Series S also seems to justify developers to include the Series S spec for game development.
I'm sure there are "many developers" are saying " drop the mandatory (mobile games, PS4, low end PC, Nintendo Switch, etc) compatibility". If developer can only develop their game on the (supposedly) must powerfully system, there will only be a handful games be developed.
So how about the development on PS4 system?......
"they’re trying to craft a better way to make games by moving development into the cloud." It is a little-bit red-flag if executives talk so vague......
"M$'s answer isn't to cut their losses and give up"????? FYI, Sony IS one of the largest customer of MS cloud services!!!!! So, MS is in a Win-Win situation now. MS is making money on both a) Gamepass subscription + game sales b) Sony increasing reliance on MS to maintaining PSN.
"if a dev wants to make a game exclusive or multiplat, it should be their decision" No. For 1st party studios, MS, Sony & Nintendo have the absolute right to order those studio to do whatever project they want. If those studio don't like what they're ordered to do, the only way for rebellion is a self buy-out, like Bungie did multiple times.
Let's see: Polyphony, Insomniac, Guerrilla, BluePoint, Naughty Dog,... It looks pretty " Taking Devs off Market (of other platforms) with Acquisitions" to me. Bungie maybe the only exception.
Isn't these 2 games are, quite similar?.....
Yeah. OK. You won! PS5 has 2 PS5 only exclusive for the last 2 years while Xbox has only 1. On PS4/5 side you have to buy those versions separately (or pay the 10$ upgrade fee); while on the Xbox side player don't need to pay extra cost for cross-gen upgrade (in case you don't know).
I think the issue is that Ubisoft change this game between single-player focus & free-to-play live service so many times.
But the wind & current are all gone for this game by now.
Outriders had improved its performance between the demo & the final release. It was the best sellers at launch on all platforms, including PC, Xbox & (you guess it) PS5.
This smell like the "Scalebound" scheme again.
"They all fixed what went wrong." In Cyberpunk's case, "what went wrong' IS the technical issues, bug, performance. So CDPR fixed most of those; isn't this "They all fixed what went wrong."?
Never buy a single player game at launch. Wait 1 to 2 years, until all the bug are fixed, update applied, DLC out, before buying.
Actually Kinect 1.0 was a great success at that time. So it was logical for MS to focus a bigger focus on Kinect games.
Currently, Sea of Thief is a good game, with constant new contents.
"Just wait til next year."
- I think this descript the PS5 stock &exclusive game for the past year.
