Neither of your examples are remotely about gaming, why would gaming sites be covering them?

So, we shouldn't care about one group of people getting shit on because another group of people also get shit on ?

Maybe if Colin 'realised' sooner that Greg had been through so much... he would have acted more maturely when a tone-deaf tweet of his was threatening the company they'd created and the livelihoods of more than just the two of them.

"Creative Assembly’s Ella replying in an unacceptable manner = August 13
Review-bombing = September 23 to 25 "

That's over a month. Seems to suggest that the outrage wasn't sparked by the comments themselves, but by people being told to be outraged..

@CaptainObvious878
So, why did the devs 'insult' the 'player base' ? Just for fun or was it to quiet down some morons who were making a mountain out of a molehill (hint, it's the latter)
Were the majority of the 'player base' insulted ? Not really - as continually evidenced on sites like the Total war subreddit where it remains a non-issue.
So, when did this really blow up ? When it was featured on GG site OneAngryGamer which was then ref...

But what were the devs responding to if no-one was that bothered about it for six months.. ?

Could it be that it's not actual Total War players who are that bothered about it, but others stirring up sh*t.

I think those folks couldn't have been tugged that hard out of their immersion seeing as the update occurred SIX MONTHS AGO

2673d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Another funny thing. The update happened about six months ago, so they either hadn't noticed they'd been 'SJW'ed' or they've never played the game and are just throwing their toys out the pram because someone's told them to.

@Chaos_order
I wasn't saying you should. I was just making the point that the original comment made (simply that if all comments were tied to real names, people would comment differently) wasn't suggesting anything like what Helios86 was taking from it.

@Christopher
I wonder how the US works sometimes when it seems fine to treat your general workforce like sh** and it's just accepted. Here in the UK if your job is no longer available to you through no fault of your own, you're entitled to redundancy (severance pay) even if the company goes bankrupt (into administration).

They aren't advocating any sort of repercussions beyond personal accountability. As in, would people still feel comfortable writing the same comments if they knew friends, families and employers could read them.

Or just have a blank screen with,' sorry but because we can be 100% certain what actually happened all the time we decided not to show anything for fear of offending.'

"making the point that where other games or developers or publishers would have denied having any sort of political or social commentary in their game,"

Really ? I thought that was the entire point about GTA, Watchdogs, Infamous, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Wonder how the 'keep politics out of my games' crowd will take it?

"quit showing trailers that aren’t indicative of the retail version"
The problem with that is most of the trailers in question are over a year away from release. They don't know what the retail version will end up like. So, it's either trailer with projected gameplay or no trailer at all - which would lead to very dull conferences and accusations of trouble in development.

There's a lot of baseless accusations there, and a lot of sweeping 'you people' generalisations. Surprised you didn't manage to fit in 'cultural marxist' as well.

Note when stories broke about the working conditions inside Riot games, it was met here with disbelief and claims of 'this isn't news about games, what is it doing here'.
Yet this story, about a company holding a single 1-hour panel, is met with the coming of the apocalypse and top comment is a paranoid, fascist rant that is heavily upvoted.

But, of course, it's us nasty SJWs that get triggered and need safe spaces..

WAIT! *shapes it into a fedora* Now your ready!

They ignored it for years whilst Riot games was institutionally discriminating against women in its workforce. But, a 1 hour panel, yeah that's worse..

With all due respect, you're just a random person on the internet posting your opinion too.

I read the thread on reddit, and though it seemed like the chap was frustratingly given the runaround for a good while, someone has stepped in and it's started to be sorted out.
It's not ideal but one apparently isolated incident isn't really indicative of anything.
