And if you think about it, it's understandable. Things like boobs and damage are novelties. They make headlines and attract attention initially, but if that's all DOA was, you'd be fairly bored and move on quite quickly.
They want to make sure the base game is right for their core audience who are going to continue playing this years down the line as one of their main games, picking up season passes for costumes, keeping the online viable, etc

They aren't being bullied, they're changing it because they hope it'll make them more money. No-one is saying anyone would be offended, they're saying they believe this makes the game more appealing to this section of the market.

If you're offended by this..

@Rachel_Alucard
What I'm saying is there's more to the costumes than just bikinis. There's themed sets, anime tie-ins, design contests, etc. Which all appeal to a wider audience than the stereotypical lech panting over the size of their cleavage.
It this audience is one that's investing a lot of time and money in the series long-term, then why wouldn't you do what you can to strengthen that ?

As I said, I have no idea how they came to this precise conclusion, but they'll have had playtests, betas, etc and been able to measure how it's used and whether changing it had much effect. Maybe a significant share of women players avoided the damage in its more extreme mode, but changing it didn't alter the behaviour of male players much.
Maybe a significant portion of the games loyal base is women, and they want to strengthen that, while maintaining the men too. For a...

The data as in what people are playing. While your playing your PC/console online the game could be set up to send data back to the devs with regard to what you're playing, how you're playing, etc.

It might just be simple stuff like which characters you're using, how often you play which game modes, etc, and I have no idea if it's done or not in this case, but it's a much more accurate reflection of what is working and not than trawl...

They also have the game data from every console/pc that is connected online. They could determine the most popular game modes, characters, outfits, etc.

It's not nearly as serious as this is trying to make it sound. Basically, it's lawyers trying to make money by touting investors who lost money due to the share price drop after the Bungie announcement.

" You think people were sexist when Leigh Alexander said that gamers don't have to be the target audience?"

Did you actually read what she wrote? She was saying that the industry and us as respectable gamers should rise above the stereotypical, obnoxious, loud-mouthed troll image of a 'gamer' that had taken hold and make back the community for everybody. Which seems pretty close to what you've just said.

Druckmann is pretty much head honcho at Naughty dog, right ? So, he's pretty much the head as creativity goes, right ? So, he's the one creating Ellie, Nadine, etc, how he wants, right ?
So, this is the game designer designing the game how they want and yet still you're accusing them of it being 'forced in'.

It's diverse in the sense that the rest of TV at the time was very white. No sane person talking about diversity is suggesting that every show should have a checklist to adhere to.

I'd bet if game designers had been able to create the games they actually wanted rather than being told to pander to specific groups there would be less stereotypical white male shaven-headed lead characters rather than more.

Your entire world is defined by what people think of the shape of your genitals and what you do with them, the colour of your skin, what god(s) you follow or don't, etc, etc.

It may seem superficial and hollow to us, but there's a lot of folks who disagree - and unfortunately a lot of them are people in positions of power.

So, in other words, the show benefits from its diversity. Some of the stories it bought up could only occur with the cast as they are. If it was a working class white guy in a rich white family, it'd be a different show.

Therefore, it's not diversity that's the problem. Having more scope for more varied storylines is better for all of us.

2572d ago 6 agree34 disagreeView comment

That's not the point of diversity.
The point is there may have been black people watching it and thinking 'oh, hey, they actually do allow black people in tv land. It may actually be worthwhile trying to go there myself.'

And Fresh prince had no problem with making skin colour and gender important themes and plot points.

1. The original announcement was heavily geared towards the multiplayer aspect of it. More than likely its development meant it was harder to keep SP as offline and still make it relevant to the game they're making. Who knows? Maybe by the time the game is actually out it might have changed again. That's sort of the meaning of the word development.

2. Tough. They haven't had that for 15 years, and they aren't going to have it for a while longer. This is not ...
