never underestimate the 'pulling' power of playstation!
Rather than anti-piracy, they're more for publishers to use to gauge interest in a game. I.e. if they have a big name title coming up with only half a dozen pre-orders in place they know they're going to have to step up their marketing, cut their losses, etc.
But, i don't see the problem in pre-orders. The bonuses are usually superfluous, so if you're on the fence, hang on.
I'd assume the majority of people who pre-order are those who either;
you're analogy is slightly out.
A GOTY edition is there to drum up sales from those who missed it first time around.
An extended cut/directors cut of a movie is there to get sales from established fans.
"want to see an alternate ending thats already been done? Pay 5 dollars!"
No, you'd pay full whack and they'd call it 'the directors cut'.
the horror
So, in response to an article about having game gadgets (like pipboy or the portal gun) in real life, all you want is a more stable browser?!
Way to think outside the box.
Given that it's on the site of the UK PS mag why wouldn't, or shouldn't, they ?
You have to think the majority of their audience are going to expect to read it from a Playstation perspective.
Considering the internet goes this crazy with what is a niche (though very good) title, think what would happen if a big franchise suddenly turned up as an exclusive on a Nintendo console...
cough - Resi 4 - cough
@HammadTheOne
And Fuse is from Insomniac. That's the point.
They are all part of the same EA partners scheme though. How come they made it through to be quality games and yet this one is doomed before it starts ?
Yeah! EA will have there fingers all over it. And they'll mess them up like they did with other from the EA partners scheme, like;
Crysis, Brutal Legend, Shadows of the damned, Bulletstorm, Left 4 dead, Orange box, Portal 2... eh...
I'm amazed how some commentators could tell a game was going to be absolutely awesome from a small trailer and can tell it's going to be sh*t from a similar one.
Is it more likely that in the time between the original announcement and now 'the internet' has decided that EA and anything connected with it is now evil ?
And what does 'Overstrike' mean ? The only definition I can find is a typing term. Perhaps if they'd changed it to &...
'ongoing' as in not legally proven. Companies don't tend to talk too much about ongoing allegations as it can prejudice the outcome.
Your first two links take care to use words like apparently, allegedly, etc or use quotes from other sources so as to avoid being liable themselves.
I'd have thought n4g users would be quite impressed by the alleged way they treat staff, considering the vitriol 'lazy' devs get.
I also wonder how well versed the author and some of the commentors are on libel laws, considering how certain they are of what is happening with evidence which appears to be little more than hearsay.
Following the logic displayed around here;
someone at EA said something
'we' currently don't like EA
ergo whatever was said must be wrong.
He's just saying if you're looking to build a new IP it's better to release it at the start of a new generation than at the end of one. Which is fairly sensible.
Bring out a new IP now and it's got to be that much better or unique than the established series that are already going...
I'm not sure, it's a bit vague.
Why don't we tweet good ol' Koj and ask him. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
huh! Where did that cardboard box come fro...
I was just about to say the same thing about the credits.
In the comments on the US PS blog (where they have the link for the video) they also mention it isn't exclusive to PS3.
I think the tweet of 'finished mtg.' with an attached pic of a cup with Microsoft written on the side could be just as mysterious...
Eh? If they're reaching the consoles' limitations then surely they're getting everything possible from them.
They might be using the resources in ways that you, personally, don't appreciate but that doesn't mean they're lying.
If James Cameron thought a DVD extra where Jack survived was worthwhile (and there' plenty of room on the door) then there'd probably be one.
How many times are flims screentested and then changed due to the audiences reaction ?
Films like Bladerunner have been changed countless times over the years and yet the integrity of films isn't brought into question (as it shouldn't).
If you're looking to re-download something in particular you can just find it on the store and do it from there - the 'buy' bit is replaced with 'download'.
(and it's actually been like that for a while.)
I agree about a better sorting system for the XMB though
