I like the atmosphere in this game. 'Shattered Horizon' is PC only I understand? It's obvious that Guerilla Games has some very talented people among its midst, so it would not be that much of a stretch to think that they could do wonders if they would have all the power of PC tech.
But the thing is that, in my opinion, they are already doing some crazy stuff with what they have at their disposal right now with the PS3. And the devs are clearly looking forward for even better results ...
The last thing I wish to do is to say that one culture is better or worse than the other. I hope you didn't get that from my statement; if so than I apologize for that. Blame it on my poor use of the English language. It's true that I am no expert on anything American ( or any culture for that matter ). It's only that I noticed a trend in almost all the American gaming sites ( which I do read a lot) when it concerned their gripes about this game in particular. And a lot less in the European s...
I do believe it's something cultural, but of course I'm not a psycho analyst. It's like how I constantly keep reading and hearing in the American media for instance, how Killzone 2 has no story at all. This while it actually has a vast background story. It's only not thrown in your face, like other ( american? ) games. I think Europeans can appreciate small things like that more than Americans. But again, it's just a guess,
And I fully agree about Motorstorm 2 and Infamous; be...
Perhaps the love has to come from Europe.
I agree with Uncharted 2, but I am already seeing that Killzone 2 will get no recognition at all this year when it concerns the FPS genre. Not in this list or any other. A shame really.
I mistakenly disagreed with your comment; gave you a bubble though
Although when they do that when I'm playing then not so much anymore.
I understand that you don't like the game, and that it was a sh!t game to you; your opinion and al....
But please don't state it as a fact that it has been crapped on by any game, even UC2. For it hasn't. It's too advanced and too good for that. It's nothing a true gamer would say, if he / she would have any respect for what developers are trying to achieve. Naughty Dog has a huge respect for Guerilla Games and KZ2. And vica versa. They helped each other out with both of their games fo...
Always commenting on a game you are not able to play. Why all this hate?
I agree with all the points that are being made; a good list. To be honest, I still do not see any other game to this date that combines this kind of level of graphics ( which also includes lighting, particals and such), visceral gameplay and intelligent enemy AI in one pacakage. Even UC2, which I love to death, doesn't seem yo have that level of AI and hit response as KZ2 does for instance.
I can only imagine that after the refinement the engine is going through right now, the game w...
Very insightfull and beautiful work. You know, the funny thing is that people are beginning to recognize that there is an actual 'Killzone-style' kind of art, atmosphere and gameplay. And it seems that this style is getting some followers when it concerns other games and developers. I'm curious how this will play out in the future.
DUST 514 looks really bland. Or was that some sort of a very early demo?
I agree. It's only funny that 360 owners who were disregarding Killzone 2 as being just pretty visuals and nothing more, are now cheering that they now might be able to play a game with some decent graphics. I think it's just pathetic.
Besides the graphics (KZ2 is way more sophisticated than what I've seen so far from Brink, but to be honest it is not finished yet ) there is the sheer intensity of the surroundings, the particles, the lighting, the intelligent AI, the hit response system. In other words, it's the overall package you have to experience in order to be able to see what the Cell processor can do. And all at the same time.
A lot of people are talking about how KZ2 is only a 'pretty face' and nothing more....
The DLC is so beautiful and visceral at the same time; the surroundings / environment in the maps feel sometimes like a living entity. It's worth every cent I paid for. Nice to hear they will give some away for free.
Yes, you can play with / against bots in the dlc maps
A game that can provoke such feelings must be something special to say the least. Every time the name pops up loads of reactions can be expected. I obviously love the game and often have the urge to 'defend' it against all the remarks about how it does nothing new and all that bull. But if people only wish to play all these bland shooters, if that's their idea of fun games, then KZ2 indeed shouldn't be nominated for GOTY. It is to me, but who am I to say it should be when the majority thinks ...
Cool pic; thanks for reminding me.
when it concerns the environment, the lighting, particles and such then I think that KZ2 is as impressive as UC2. And lets not even talk about the AI. Sorry, but UC2's AI is not that impressive when compared to KZ2. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
And it blows my mind that even after all this time that Killzone 2 was launched, a lot of people still react like they are being shot or something, when the name of KZ2 pops up. Especially when something positive is being said, like in this case. The game must've made its mark among some people who cannot even play it.
