To me, force feedback isn't a terrible loss for my gaming experience. While I do think it has it's uses, such as for tremors, explosions, damage, and basically any sort of "shock", if you will, it just doesn't do it for me, period.

That's a big negative!! I LIVE in Japan, and I've seen several PS2 games cost upwards of 7000 Yen, so that's a bold-faced lie. The articles usually go on to further state that the price drop is only for Japan, so you can reasonably assume that the rest of the world would get HDMI as well, it makes sense to me.
