It just has the most market penetration. Of course that might matter if you're a review, corporate, or bandwagon zombie.
Vigilante 8(especially 2nd Offense) did everything better than Twisted Metal. Full Auto sucked...but it was a good try.
I've never played a Duke Nukem game that I liked.
So what? I've found that light-hearted games that don't take themselves too seriously are among the best.
Mario, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, God of War, Ratchet, Jak, Uncharted, Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, the list goes on and on.
Being serious works, but it's not a primary ingredient for success.
As much as I want the game on my console, it's kinda aggravating that someone is yanking at my strings every few weeks or so about this.
It would be nice to have a sort of embargo on Bioshock PS3 news unless it's straight from the horses mouth.
Crytek has achieved a lot, but I can't help but wonder if they could have optimized the bloody engine a little bit better.
When you consider what last gens flagship card were...7800GTX @ 256MB, with these 8800GTX @ 768MB, I can't help but scratch my head at the thought of this monstrosity of a card not running this game well.
that was a brilliant prediction!
when they heck will they let this crap GO.
Never fails.
"Disappointments of 2007"
"Pending failure of XYZ"
"What can save this"
"Will this defeat that"
Most of these half-as*ed, faux-analytical editorials and opinion pieces are as predictable as corny old Saturday morning cartoons. They have about the same depth as well.
which is why I doubt Sony will reach 14 million by April. Maybe 10 or 11, but certainly not 14.
I like your point, but there isn't really a right and wrong on this issue.
It's a good idea to leave both systems at their default settings, but like you say it's also a good idea to view things as optimally as possible.
Either way, both outlooks provide a fair way of going about things.
Here's the best solution though: Have a poll.
They should poll their site visitors for a full week on whether to leave them at their default setting...
revealed this info in the first place. Much like how you would outline all of the finer details in a double blind test of WHATEVER, this should have been noted too.
I still think it's technically fair, but regardless...whoever picks a game based upon a difference that you would NEED a literal side by side comparison to BARELY notice is out of their mind...or a fanboy.
Anyway, they should have stated this when they started these. Now they've got egg on their face....
for several months now?
but did you read the reasoning behind it? Default settings for both systems. In theory, changing any sort of video or sound setting beyond the default would yield some sort of unfair advantage.
I still think they're full of crap, have contrived reasoning and more, but this is actually on the up and up.
Besides that, you shouldn't need GT to tell you which version of a game to get. Personally I'll go with whatever controller I'm more comfortable with. The disparit...
but the only complaints I've heard from any of the folks who have played it was regarding the A.I.
I remember Guerrillas silly little cop out answer too: "It's on God mode!"
Hogwash. God mode or not, Artificial intelligence should display just that...some d@mn artificial intelligence. Even if they can't KILL the player, they should still be flanking, maneuvering, utilizing cover, dodging, staying out of the enemy's line of sight, improvising a strategy,...
It's obvious by the videos that the game has a similar pace to CoD4 with a bit more of a Hollywood flair to it. It seems grounded in realism with a fairly liberal bit of exaggeration tacked on.
I love the way CoD4 plays, it's viscerally satisfying on a level unmatched by anything else out there. In fact, the only game that comes close is F.E.A.R., but only because of the kick-a*s A.I. in the game.
If they can blend their own style with the CoD gameplay and rugged...
Yeah you do, otherwise you wouldn't use and abuse them as often as you have been.
You know what version owners of both will most likely choose? Their console of choice. Why? Familiarity with the controller, the OS, online capabilities, etc.
Anyone with half a brain does not need some lame comparison video to tell them what to buy. There were some pretty major discrepancies in the beginning, and even then it was only for a handful of titles. There's nary a differe...
hopefully it plays better than it looks. Indeed, that middle screen looks better than the others, but still lackluster IMO.
Seen the vids of K2? They've got physics, hyper-realistic(albeit over dramatic) animations, procedural animation, first person cover mechanic(find me another NON RAIL shooter with this), recoil, actual jumping this time, sprinting, no HUD, you name it.
The gameplay looks largely inspired by Call of Duty, and that's a good sign if you ask me.
Based on ALL that we've seen of Killzone, and this handful of screens(read: NO VIDEO) from R2...saying it owns Killzone is ...
Walk through 99% of the shrubbery in the game. I've repeatedly watched Drake literally walk RIGHT THROUGH leaves, fronds, branches, grass, among others throughout the course of the game.
There's about 3 or 4 distinct pieces of grass or bush that moves when Drake walks through them. One of them can be found in the immediate area around the statue in at the beginning of act 4, and the rest can be found towards the end of the game.
The vast majority of the plant lif...
Hope it plays better than it looks.
I've got a PC on the way with a Core 2 @ 2.2 and an 8700M GT 512.
I shouldn't have any problems running Bioshock with that, so maybe I'll give it a shot.
