If you're buying Blu-Ray movies for your PS3, then you still have a machine that has other functionality IF the format were to fail. If you had a stand alone player, on the other hand, and the format failed, you're left with a useless peice of equipment, at least for the future anyway.
Personally, I only have one Blu-Ray myself, but I can completely see how one can feel secure in buying several of them.
I don't even think the whole "PS3 owners don't buy game...
...about games we're seeing being at a certain build, will supposedly look miles better upon release, this footage doesn't have XYZ effects, etc. etc.
Personally, I have yet to see it. I remember Full Auto 2 in it's early stages...looked exactly the same once it hit release...Virtua Fighter 5, same thing. Tekken 6...same thing. GT5 Prologue..looks EXACTLY, and I mean EXACTLY like GTHD which was released well over a year prior. Lair looked better than it's ALPHA footage, but by ...
IMO WipEout HD has always looked this good.
Anyway, only thing I never liked about these games is that they felt a little too floaty...among the few areas that I always thought made F-Zero the superior future racer.
Not a huge gripe though, I had a blast with WipEout Pure, especially because of the ad-hoc. I'll be sure to pick this up once it hits.
Looks great in every aspect. The only con(and a minor one at that) is the slight inconsistency of the graphics. The character models are hands down some of the most beautifully rendered I've ever seen...could easily be mistaken for FMV, but SOME...not MANY of the areas in the environment look a bit low-res. I usually see this in the walls, on boxes, and other small areas, but otherwise, the game looks stunning.
Looks like a blast to play, too.
but the worst part about things like this is how the community reacts to it.
I can already see a legion of zealots gloating to the other camp about one of their exclusives being lost. Stuff like this is the reason why turnabout is NOT fair play...it doesn't help anything.
Again, would be cool, but I don't want this to become another Virtua Fighter 5...the game that nobody buys but everyone wants so they can satisfy their ego.
someone isn't a hypocrite for trying to CHANGE.
If toughname or anyone else just stops antagonizing people, then that's no reason to antagonize them...unless of course you'd like them to continue harassing you and throwing out provocative remarks.
It would be sure to snake a lot of sales away from potential customers of the other brand.
Then again, by that time I expect the PS3 to be above 10 or 11 million, with the 360 at 18 or so.
Either way, it's a safe bet that this will be a million seller for both install bases.
Folks like you are some of the most insecure around. You've got to tell yourself things like "It can't be done on X because of Y and Z" CONSTANTLY so you can feel secure or good about your stance.
Something tells me that there's a modicum of doubt behind all of the crap you spew.
Get over it already and just play good games. Whether or not it can be done on another system is irrelevant.
Let me ask you this, is that what you constantly th...
That's a great point that I admittedly overlooked myself. Perhaps I was too wrapped up in other things, but ultimately my point was that regardless of that, KZ2 seems to be achieving more in spite of disguising things for the end user.
@titntin
I suppose you must have missed the part where I said I consider Insomniac and ND to be among the world's best.
Sure, I admit I do have different desires from most gamers, but I don't think that makes me wron...
The characters and adventure were very reminiscent of the two recent Mummy movies IMO.
Look at Stranglehold and Lair.
Two games with budgets north of $20 million and they were both incomplete, to say the least.
Lets not kid ourselves here, Resistance was a very basic game(Halo 1 with a different coat of paint), and although Ratchet LOOKED good, it's the same old formula. No sophisticated tech and gameplay advancements whatsoever.
Both great games, mind you, but on a technical level, they've BOTH got nothing on Killzone 2.
Naughty Dog aren't exactly miracle workers either. Let's not forget that Uncharted wasn't a launch title, this game was in development for over 2 year...
but I think Guerrilla learned a hard lesson from the original Killzone.
Thing is, they really shouldn't have HAD to, because not only was it originally a PC title, but they never did any of the hyping themselves.
Anyway, biggest reason I think this is because despite their stellar showings last year, they've kept almost too quiet about the game. Tells me that they're trying to pry themselves away from that Halo-killer moniker.
I think they're smart...
Clear, concise, no confusion. Good that they linked to their previous preview and stated the distinction between this article and the older one.
Beyond that, good info.
do you play games, or are you just a troll?
I've never once heard you give your own take on a game, even the ones that you claim are vastly superior to anything the competition offers.
All you spew is the same regurgitated crap time and again, aggregate scores and sales statistics.
Both are third party PoVs.
I won't take it too far this time...so all I have to offer is that you try playing games some time. It's a lot more fun than br...
I'd just like to know how this will translate when all of the other variables are thrown into the mix.
Still, this looks great and bodes well for the future, I sure hope it plays as well as it looks.
I used to be worried at the lack of info about this game, I thought it may have silently dropped out of development.
people are once again hyping this game up themselves to be some sort of second coming.
The only buzz this game has gotten is through forums and journalists(surprise, there!), Guerrilla and Sony, even though they have said a few fairly spectacular things, have been quite modest about the game IMO.
There's a certain degree of anticipation for this game that I can't HELP but to have because of the fluid animations, tight looking gameplay, and of course awesome graph...
The devs who crafted the contemporary classic God of War? According to Jaffe, they were all a pretty much rag-tag group of folks who worked on small-time failures(save for him, Twisted Metal) and lesser projects, but when they got together for GoW, it just "clicked".
Same could happen here, don't count them out just yet.
...did you somehow miss the part where I said that?
I've heard that Bill Gates is a disrespectful ass, who doesn't know how to talk to people, belittling them for mistakes yet is spineless when they stand up for themselves.
Sure, he's contributed a lot as a philanthropist, but no amount of good deeds negates who you yourself are as a person or how you treat individuals.
