"AAA games cost more to develop now than ever"
Sure, if you consider marketing a part of the development cost.
"If they add the battlefield openness"
If they did that, that means they would have to actually waste effort developing the title instead of going on vacations to "research" places from the films.
@aeery
How is it stupid? If you can run a marathon in world breaking time but you did it with handicaps, it's no longer as impressive is it? You beat Usain Bolt in a foot race, except you're using a bike. Not so cool any longer. To get to that graphical fidelity they had to cut the resolution, they had to drop the frame rate, and they had to relegate the gameplay to corridors and scripted segments. When you factor all this in, it takes away the visual punch. Unless yo...
There's no disagreeing that the game looks good. Unfortunately the game looks good with too many costs. Letter box resolution to render less on screen, a lower capped FPS at 30 and entirely linear gameplay. When you factor all this in together, it's no longer as impressive.
"Fallout 4"
Are you mad?
@Smeargle
How does a game benefit from an M rating?
NSFW is typically porn. That's not porn. IF your employer does not want you browsing anything that has suggestive themes then that's on you.
"System seller"
I don't think you understand what system seller means. People aren't going to be lining up to buy PSVR for rigs. The same way people are going to be lining up to buy Oculus for whatever exclusive garbage they're trying to muster. This will be an expensive gaming accessory. People who purchase a single console are definitely not going to be interested in also splurging out 300+ dollars for any of these headsets. These are enthusiast level....
@Exoil
Every release is coming to PC now adays also. Third party exclusives are gone. This is the era of Timed Exclusives. As evidenced by Square Enix titles Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy. As evidenced by the colossal amounts of timed exclusives last generation such as Bioshock. Your downvotes will not change this fact.
Well contrary to the circle jerk that goes on on N4g, the 80 million dollars that Konami gave Kojima along with 5 years of development time and the ability to release 5 different platforms sounds like some decent freedom.
And yes, platforms are what matters. The days of third party exclusives are gone.
Working on the engine is still working on the game. IF you are building a car engine, does that mean you are suddenly not working on the car?
If he partnered with Microsoft it would be the exact same, just certain camps on this site would be screaming from the hill tops that he was "bought out".
"It's safe to say he didn't Start MGSV"
They were working on the game engine in 2010 based upon what I'm reading.
"Freedom"
I am excited for the potential PC release that Kojima may be releasing; but only on N4g is being tied down from one publisher to another considered "freedom".
Elite Dangerous is 15 dollars. That's okay.
The PS4 version of The Last of Us was definitely a shady method of making money. So yes, they should have.
No, stop it with this crap. 60 FPS is not a concept, it's an integral part of a game that DIRECTLY affects how a user can actually experience that game. People LITERALLY get sick from lower frame rates. I've even gotten terrible headaches from attempting to use a rudimentary VR device with an android phone.
And not to mention, just because you are happy with playing a pretty slide show doesn't mean that others are. I really wish this idea that frame rate and resol...
@CDzNutts
And the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is hailed as one of the best games regardless of the fact that it runs at 24 FPS. That doesn't change the fact that anything at that frequency is unacceptable in this day.
@b163o1
Sega as a company is known for putting out mostly mediocre sonic games now. What makes you think that them returning to the console business would instantly cause the end of one of the three giants? While the dreamcast is a great system, I'm amazed at some of the comments stating they would immediately pre-order Sega's next console.
"It's still a bland shooter"
Precisely. And it's the most recent bland shooter. That coupled with the Star Wars paint job is enough for people to defend it wholeheartedly. Although I've stated prior to release that I thought the game was going to be trash in comparison to the previous titles. The sad part is, the game isn't even a proper ripoff of Battlefield. It lacks a lot of content that Battlefield 3/4 has. No idea how a few comments above mine c...
