No, it would be some X-only saying it and you'd be agreeing with him wholeheartedly.

The 'option' to install to HDD may be in the hands of the developers, not the gamers.

I'm not buying it. He says they were taken by surprise, but I don't believe him. I think that's spin so the Sony fanbase won't be as upset, but it seems to me like a calculated risk. As I stated in another thread, I don't think Sony will lose many sales and SE will gain some, so it can be seen as a win-win. Seriously, how many X-onlys were going to buy a PS3 just to play this game?

Achievements copied Madden Cards and applied them to a console instead of a game.
In game XMB - can your 360 access the dashboard from inside a game because mine can't - all I can get is my gamercard blade.
Custom soundtrack/video store - old news on PC.
Guide button controller - that's laughable - they copied the 'x' button from the PS1 controller.

Sony maintained exclusivity in Japan where FF sales are the highest. If they let this slip away elsewhere, I am sure it was a calculated risk. I'd bet PS3 fans of the game are going to buy it on the PS3. I don't see FFXIII as...

They don't REQUIRE an install. Developers choose to use them. If HDD's were standard on all 360's they would use them there as well.
When PS3's sales exceed the 360's (which baseballkid721 predicts will be next year) Microsoft will drastically cut the price of the 360 to try to stay in the race. I understand what baseballkid721 is saying and find it logical, even plausible.
SE is looking to cash in, and, if MS is paying them, they're just making more.

You're forgetting the multis have been developed first on the 360 then ported over to the PS3. This game is being developed on the PS3, then ported to the 360, so there is a chance graphics may suffer some, if SE is attempting to maximize the graphics for the PS3.

Games have had unlockables for nearly forever. Microsoft 'stole' the idea and enhanced it from being game applicable, for example Madden Cards, and applied it to a system.
Sony enhanced it further with trophies and leveling up.
