How are you paying $5 - $7 extra? If I pre-order a $60 game with $5 down, I pay $55 when I pick it up. $5 + $55 = $60. Are you be charged full price after leaving a deposit?
Just imagine if they were employed those hours instead, they could afford a PS3 too, and maybe some of the hating would stop. But then, what would happen to poor N4G without the haters?

Faulty logic. The 360 is based on PC architecture, and devs have a lot more experience with the architecture. It says loads about familiarity, but nothing about hardware capabilities.

That's the biggest bullsh!t I've read today. The 360 boys have been giving it to the Sony boys since day one. I own and enjoy both consoles, and while I only have been a member here a few months, I've read this site for quite longer, and 360 fanboys have been trashing Sony and their fans from the jump. I'll believe a fan on either side when they rebuke their own for saying stupid sh!t about the other.
This game has unlimited possibilities. Definitely a day one purchase for me. If it comes out in late October, Gears 2 and Resistance 2 may sit in their wrappers a little longer before I get around to playing them.

It's wrong to paint all fanboys with such a broad brush. There are plenty here who can be asses with respect to the console war, but have enough sense to know there are some things that you don't joke about. My condolences to the families of both persons.
The 40GB PS3 is $399.99, which, if I am correct, is below $500.00.
Hell, even the 80GB MGS4 bundle is $499.99, which is still technically below $500.00.

Oz, I played the demo for about and hour or so and am fairly indifferent to the game, maybe a rental when it comes out, but you said something that struck me as maybe being a small part of a greater truth.

As a matter of fact, one of my ancient caveman ancestors invented the wheel so every company that has used a wheel of any sort owes me royalties. There's a saying 'Trust the art, not the artist'. There are a ton of douchebags (and I'm not saying Cliffy is or isn't one) out there that make great music, movies, games, etc. Gears was awesome and I'm sure Gears 2 will be as well and will be a release date purchase for me. Love him or hate him he's getting the press. He's in trouble when people become indifferent to him.
Of course you'll get the 360 version. You would have to actually own a PS3 to buy that version.
