Yeah that's true...look at the whole "I love the chainsaw gun" thing in Gears. That's definitely not realistic.
Still the cerebral bore from Turok N64 takes the cake for outrageous (but fun) weapons.
There is definietly some room for improvement. It looks like they want to make another one...
The reference to 'snow' must be the Battle of the Bulge? Which means that they will have limited environments again, which won't help.
And that blurring in games lately is really getting my goat.
"In the future I’d like to see a combination of Brothers In Arms’ intelligent AI and strategic gameplay with MOH: Airborne’s open multi-route maps with player-controlled parachute drops."
Hey I like that idea....open world with my units and less closed in. BIA was too restrictive.
This blame the dvd thing is getting really OLD.
I'm way over space marines now myself. Sci Fi (with perhaps the exception of Dead Space's horror approach) has been done so much last gen that having only a few this gen would do me.
Keep in mind there are only 2 WW2 shooters out this year: BIA and World At War. How many space marine games will there be?
I do think that 1st person shooters can do more than be 'war-based'. Look at Bioshock or The Darkness. More creative use of the shooter genre would be fantastic to supplement the obvious war violence such shooters will inevitably produce.
Anybody else think doing offline multi only for the low-res Wii is crap?
@redguard
Agree...But the devs thinking working hard on the online multi is worth it and time spent on offline multi wasted is faulty thinking. Only the biggies like Halo, Resistance, Gears, Bad Company, COD4 will grab people LONG TERM. Most online multi games die quickly.
Offline multi lasts forever, long after online crowds have abandoned the game's online multi...
I'll happily disagree with you :)
First, the whole world doesn't have the same internet reliability.
Second, online may be a big 'next gen' focus and has a good following but to abandon the many who still will play offline and not bother to go online, is poor logic. Casuals are a big market and they buy the Wii because they can play with others next to them.
Thirdly, in this age of big screen TVs it is not so bad to split it up. Sure, those who can scr...
What didn't you like? Just curious as I thought the single player might at least be good.
I'm not sure but I'd think a game like Left 4 Dead would require more to run split-screen than a straight 1st person shooter like Bond.
And as the article points out there are some top games that keep it. No excuse to leave it out imo.
Yes I can remember so many fun co-op (offline) experiences too! Baldur's Gate on the PS2 with my much younger nephew is still a very fond memory of time shared with a family member.
Online suits some but not all. I don't understand why Treyarch did so much for offline multi with COD3 and now just dumps it.
When you have games like Left 4 Dead including it, despite the difficulty, games like Bond not including it is just plain lazy. The Wii gets it? Unbelievable. I'm going to leave a comment on their forums!
Online is fine but keep split screen!!!
NOT A DUPLICATE STORY: this pertains to Australia not the U.S. Gee I wish people who report would read the full title and article first...
I'm looking forward to this game, but not as much as for the last one. I'm not quite sure why, since this one should have more story and add to the next one, and Gears has proven itself, whereas last time nobody knew yet. Maybe the first blew me away so much I think it probably won't do so again?
I wonder how hard Microsoft will be with Kmart for this? It could have been some inexperienced sales person not aware of what embargo means that gave them out? I know some retailers (even big ones) don't even have the stock yet, so if EB break it there will be some unhappy businesses...
I'm happy to wait, myself.
I am with you. The new Bond game is only giving split screen to the F-ing Wii. It IS still fun to play in the same room with big screen tvs and real friends and family. Online is fine, but there should be both.
The fact so many games are leaving split screen (SOCOM, Airborne, Pure etc) SUCKS. If COD2, COD3,COD4, GRAW, Halo, Gears, PD0, Resistance etc. can do it then so can more of these games!
I don't see why this was reported for having GEARS OF WAR in bold..it's emphasis in this context is valid imo.
Winning free stuff is always good...however too many games coming out the next few weeks for me to return yet..
Awe get in the spirit....with the Aussie team playing to be in the next World Cup, it's unpatriotic not to like a soccer/football game!
Actually I still prefer to watch the game than play it...I'm glad FIFA has really picked up its game lately with these. It used to be PES was way better, except for graphics.
