I use my PS3 for Blu Ray and the exclusives. So for me when compared with the 360 for gaming it may not have been worth what I spent on it. But no doubt for the 1 console bunch out there they would be very happy with it. It's a great console. Only thing I don't like about it is the mandatory instals, the fact that it hasn't had achievements (which are addictive for sure), lack of backwards compatibility, and the controller (each to his own, but I don't like the six axis I've got...maybe t...
While the console is good value overall, I think it needs the price cut to get a bigger instal base and then get greater software sales for it.
I prefer to game on the 360 (even though I have the PS3), but that doesn't mean I don't wish the PS3 well. Good strong competition keeps each other pushing and not stagnating.
That's intersting...fanboy wars in Japan translated...I wonder what they say. I think the only reason Sony is plunging in sales is the price. Let's face it...if you are after gaming and you aren't after a particular Sony title or blu ray, why buy the PS3 when the 360 has plenty of great games and a much lower price.
I have all next gen consoles but the math seems obvious to me for those with limited funds.
LOL. Those poor girls don't know what they signed up for...literally.
I liked the destructible trees in Bad Company...
And yet you keep coming back to make amazing declarations like that one. My only big criticism of N4G is the fanboy wars that erupt all the time and that sometimes the only big news items are up as high degrees because of them.
Oh God not this crap again. Gaming news sites are getting less and less hits because news is surface level reporting. Opinion about that news is what I like to read, whether I agree or not. It makes me think about the games, sometimes in new ways. It provokes debate, like this one has (though the boring 360 vs. PS3 stuff is just sad). You want news, just go to any news site and avoid N4G.
If it isn't going to be in the final copy, then why put it in a marketing preview?
I like my cut-scenes to be good too. I'm pretty sure this game will aim up, when it is finally released.
Graphics are important but being glitch-free is even more important! The number of updates for Oblivion when it came out was insane. I just put in Pure and there was an update already! Game-makers should just get it right for the retail copy!!
I also agree...I'm not an RPG fan but Oblivion really sucked me in. It's one of my all-time favs now. But then my son also really gets into JRPGs, so he likes turn based stats etc. I hate stats and just want to play.
I just want some details of bots in local multi!!!! Please??
Trailers mean nothing for either of these games: look at Killzone 1: looked great; was rather ordinary. I'll wait until these are both out to judge them...
Remember Haze....
That music was annoying.
Halo 3 suffered from too much hype but it was still a good Halo-esque game. You can't go and call it crap as it stuck to what it was good at. A lot of gamers have moved on to Gears/Resistance style gritty, but that doesn't mean that the Halo game was rubbish.
AlexM:
I think it is a bit early to say what it will look like....
It certainly was something AMAZING back on Xbox and has continued to be a great series (if a bit overhyped). I don't think we should keep comparing Xbox games like Halo and Gears with Resistance and Killzone (or if you're a sony fanboy, the other way around). They all bring something to gaming in the shooter genre and I'll play them all.
I think it is funny how many people go on about WW2 shooters (we have 2 this year) and then go on to play yet another sci fi shooter. I think this game has great potential if it goes a bit gritty and I think staying away from the normal Master Chief story is a good idea.
Bungie are going to have to deal with all the hype AGAIN....
@ XboxOZ
I'm totally with you...the single player game must have a good story besides "OMG invasion: I'm a super-trooper bang bang bang". If it is multi focused I just lost interest.
I think it will be good to leave Master Chief alone for awhile and see what happened from a new perspective. I'm sure we'll get back to him later....
Well you guys in Melbourne might get a go, but where I live they'll never be! Much too small....
That's okay...I'll play them when they are out and in the meantime hear from those who can pre-play! I've heard really good things about Far Cry 2 from someone who has had a pre-play.
