Gears is too focused on teamwork so online 'clans' or groups that train together like commandos really make it less fun. At least with Left 4 Dead the opponents have differences: zombies or human.
I'm still hoping it'll also be fun offline, but you are right the focus is online. It's a great concept, if it works properly, that's for sure.
Yeah like we all live in the outback...I wear an Akubra hat and daily wrestle crocs, kill deadly snakes, swim with sharks, ward off packs of Dingos, and dodge kanagroos and wallabies bouncing down the street (actually that did happen once, to my shock, but I'm in a smaller city).
When I lived in Canada there were bears and cougars around that were a lot more threatening....
Seriously, we love to play up our 'deadly' wildlife, but hardly any of us ever have a dangerou...
I wonder if COD: World At War copied this game a bit with their multi mode "Nazi Zombies"? The whole "small group survive against a hoard of zombies" thing? If so that is a complement by them to Left 4 Dead's concept.
I don't generally like online 'team-based' games because some people take it way to seriously, so I hope the offline AI does it justice.
Maybe having an offline multi or single player game attached might have helped? At least there would have been something to play while waiting for them to make it playable online....
I actually think that the hype was the only reason I got the original, but I was not expecting it to live up to it. I really was impressed.
This time because I have higher expectations I'm worried the hype will make me feel disappointed....at least I know I won't be as disappointed as I was with Alone in the Dark! Man the hype was wrong on that one.
As for the cogs...would be nice, but needles in haystacks aren't my thing. Just give us the nice cogs with the LE ve...
You can trade 3 games in for it at JB too when it is out...that's for the LE. Of course there is always an exclusion list...
Well my first guess would be EB, followed by GAME. I'm a bit 'meh' about GOW2, only because there are so many great games sitting near the 360 waiting to be played. I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I get to it, but it does seem a bit 'more of the same' to me. I loved the original, except for the stupid AI for Dom when I wasn't playing co-op and the need for teamwork in online multi.
I've already got the mo with the goatee, but it is a great idea. Except some women hate the scratchie feeling....
I agree so much. Split screen would at least have seen the multi played. With Far Cry 2, GOW2, Resistance, COD4, Halo3, Bad Company etc. etc. who will play this online anyway? Bubble for you!

Multiplayer has little to recommend it ESPECIALLY since there is no SPLIT-SCREEN. STUPID decision Treyarch, and one that is difficult to fathom given most EA Bonds had it and so did the game it is aspiring to 'recapture', Goldeneye.
Now the multi they wasted time and effort on will barely be played online when it could have at least had...
Mate, not all Christians think the same just like not all Australians think the same. This Family First guy needs to do more research into the subject before he decides he has to block R18 to score political points "fighting for children".
To him this is an issue of censorship and the rights of the adults endangering kids. This is more about the inconsistancies in the current system and how children are not protected this way anyway like the article says.

Yeah I probably wouldn't have picked it up if it wasn't for JB's trade in 3 for it deal....I have too much to play at the moment but look forward to getting to it now that I know for sure that a lot of people really love it.
Great for Halloween for those that have fun with that (Halloween isn't celebrated here in Australia for those of you overseas! A shame too! My kids and I had so much fun in Canada with it a couple years ago!)
This is a game I'm going to have to take my time with to really enjoy. At first I thought the graphics were rather average, but the gameplay is great.

Maybe so, but how will it affect Sony's gaming division or PS4 plans? N4G is about gaming and this Sony hit will probably affect gaming in some way.
I don't want to see a weak Sony, even though I play more on my 360. They need to keep each other striving so that gamers win.
Resistance 2 going to US was a big disappointment. Though the graphics weren't the best, I really enjoyed the fact that 1 was in the UK. Another 'Half-Life 2-like run around the woods with GIANT enemies' is not that exciting imo.
I'm sure it'll be good, but I'm sick of giant enemies and similar environments. I'm waiting for a budget price on R2. At least it has some good multi options, offline and on, though. Gears was a 1 trick pony for multi.
