Not to say this game can't get such scores, but I would take this review with a pinch of salt.
Personally, I think the main issue with this game is the lack of narrative. Or atleast, that's what seems to be the case.
I haven't seen any interaction with other NPC's (except for killing them) and no PROPER story background has been revealed to my knowlegde.
Either there isn't any, or they have just not shown any of it yet.
No matter how great the gamep...
But I'd never expect a great deal as this one. Remember, the PS3 has only been available in Europe for what...8 months and already it has dropped, temporary or not, from 600 Euro's to 400 Euro's plus they added a game.
This package is perfect for me. BC is very important to me and I don't get all that many excess stuff.
Only one controller suits me fine as I'll be awaiting the controller with rumble included and I don't really care for Motorstorm, but it's a nice bonus. ...
In the mail I found this leaflet from the 'Mediamarkt' (big electronics store franchise in The Netherlands) and it was advertising:
- a 60 GB PS3
+ 1 controller
+ Motorstorm
+ BC (obviously)
for 399 Euro's! The same price as the 40 GB model.
I obviously went down to the store as quickly as I could, as I had to see this with my own eyes. And when it appeared to be valid, I couldn't resist and I picked one up.
The ...
I myself consider NG on the Xbox as the best game I've ever played and probably the most beautiful game last gen. So seeing this is really a huge letdown.
My main issue with the visuals are the enviroments. Í haven't seen such bland, empty and uninspiring enviroments in a game for a while, it's really that bad. I am completely staggered by what a visual diappointment this game is.
Last gen the enviroments were just as bland, but that was the case with most g...
I just hope they don't go overboard on the monsters trying to make the game scary, with the result that it completely misses it's goal like so many games out there.
I hope they focus more on the mysterious aspects of the outer space world as few games have been able to pull this off properly.
Here's for hoping!
This game is really doing great, I didn't see that one coming.
I personally don't get this game. I just don't like the look of it and I don't find the enviroments very convincing (which it's widely praised for). It's not a game I'd get a PS3 for and it just doesn't look like a game I would enjoy.
That said, I'm well aware of the fact that this is mearly my personal opinion and that generally this game is regarded AAA material.
So kudos for Insomnia...
They did the same with Splinter Cell Conviction. That game also boasts this crowd-mechanic and looks just as awkward.
I do respect Ubisoft a lot (how could you not with games like Prince of Persia, XIII, Beyond Good and Evil etc) and I also respect them for trying to do something new and taking a risk, but I fear they focussed too much on the crowd-mechanism and have 'forgotten' to make sure the game is fun.
Thanks for the bubble, and have one yourself. You seem...
At first I was extremely hyped for this game, but that hype has slowly degraded the closer we get to the actual release.
The game still looked extremely buggy in the latest footage with poor framerate, pop-in, tearing etc. Also, the NPC's are terrible.
The animations are clunky as hell, they look like they just wander around all day without any real objective/goal. They simply just look like a bunch of chickens on the loose.
Seriously, If you're going to b...
But I'm talking in general now.
Every time a game get's a perfect score by whatever review magazine/site, the same (ridiculous) discussion surfaces again and again.
Obviously, no game is perfect because that would mean that everybody likes the game and there are no flaws whatsoever. This is simply impossible.
But why have a scoring system that goes to 10, when no game will ever accomplish that?! You would have to reduce the max score to an 8 or something which is ridiculous obviously.
I see remarks like yours come up frequently and I don't know why it's so hard to understand that giving a game a 10 is just purely symbolic, t...
...they're not leaving us a choice anymore. If I'm not mistaking, Sony recently announced that they will be phasing out the 60GB model in Europe and since there's no 20GB model here either that leaves us with just one option: The 40GB model WITHOUT BC.
If that's the case, then that's just plain idiotic! If they introduce the 80GB model here to 'replace' the 60GB model and offer the same (imo pretty damn good) deal as with the 60GB model currently, then that's fine by me.
...
I myself am still planning on getting a PS3 and BC is a must. I've never owned a PS2 so getting a PS3 with BC is a great way of playing some of the PS2 classics I've missed out on, and at a good price as well!
All these people claiming BC is obsolete are just trying to defend Sony's POOR CHOICE OF PRIORITY. BC is a must for many people out there!
The 60GB is a great deal as well, but atm I'm not considering one as there are some great 360 games going to release t...
You cannot be serious! It's like FEAR al over again.
You'd think they'd listen to the complaints of the gamers and throw in some actual interesting and varied enviroments! Action is top notch though!
Oh, and FEAR was NOT creepy at all. I don't know why people say that.
The 'scary' moments were as cliché as it gets and too 'teen horror-movie-like' to really have an impact at all.
Now Condemned, that was CREEPY as hell!
But there's just one thing that bothers me: The animations!
They are truly awfull and really kill the combat experience imo.
I know there's a strong emphasis on adventure/RPG elements, but the combat seems to be the main focus of this game and it's strange to see that that aspect is the biggest issue this game has (imo).
But this game is looking EPIC and it's almost certainly a must-buy for me. Just wish they'd fix those bleeding animations!
I want BC. I don't own a PS2, never did, but I do want to play some PS2 games that I've missed out on.
These games will probably be available for a good price now and being able to play them on a PS3 is ideal. This will keep me going untill some interesting games for the PS3 start to release.
I think that the 40GB PS3 is a great deal, a much better deal than any of the 360 models imo (and much more reliable). But leaving out BC is a NO-GO for me!
I'd get ...
Oh, my bad.
I guess it's not as bad as I thought it was then. ;)
I'm not completely convinced yet, but it certainly has potential.
I'm just not all that concinced by this footage. I think they should show a level in a daytime setting. I'm sure it'll look much more impressive than this nighttime level which is kinda generic and bland imo.
But I like their approach, which is lots of post-processing fx and enviromental fx, rather than pushing polygons and super sharp textures.
I'm liking the animations a lot, here ...
Allright fair enough, I see where you're coming from now. And judging from your BIO you seem reasonable enough.
I often feel the same way. I too have been playing games for a long time now and it's not very often that something special in the lines of Half Life/Halo/GTA comes along and really impresses me.
However, Bioshock DOES infact impress me in that way, whereas for you obviously, it DOESN'T.
So, just because you've been playing games for alo...
Apparently it's a GREAT franchise. Just look at the review scores/sales/user feedback.
So just calling it "OK" is doing the franchise a bit injustice to say the least.
But yeah I agree, some people go overboard on these things. Camping out for 14 days just to be sure to play a game when it releases? Seriously, GET A LIFE!
Also, all the defending and HYPE is going to far as well. It's a GAME for f*ck sakes. I love gaming and I check the internet e...
