Well, we are actually already at 360... that's like what three hundred and sixty generations? How many years are that?

***What is there in for you both if MS releases no core games but gets teh salez from the casual crowd anyhow?***

Why is this even relevant?

That said, larger user base results in better support... we saw that in the PS2 era.

***Do you enjoy not having as many exclusive core games or what is it?***

I have no issues with finding "core" games regardless of it being exclusive or not. In fac...

However, we all enjoy the benefits because some of us pay.

Considering everything else they did, like online pass to lock you out of offline content in single player games, this wouldn't have surprised me.

As a fan of ME, I'm very happy!

Cross game chat is only one of them.

Here are a few examples that I use:

* party system
* beacons
* instant achievement syncing (no batch job running at night for PS+ users only)
* apps from a huge set of media providers (many free). I use ESPN a lot.
* status report if any component of the service is having problems

That is of course discounting the fact that all updates are super fast and I don't even hav...

I think that is a good point, problem is so far the vast majority of sales are from the WiFi version. The other problem is also the monthly fee for data plans is really high.

It also costs as much as a PS3 and I wonder if these youngster would rather have a cell phone to talk to their friends.

...but yeah, good point! I might be wrong.

I highly doubt remote play would be a console/handheld mover. That said, it is a cool feature and more support would be awesome.

I was thinking the same. Why isn't an established product like the PS3 the driving force?

New consoles and handhelds aren't the "driving force", they are loss leaders! Established products are supposed to be the profit makers....

Even more troubling is the slow PS Vita sales, and the encroaching smart phone market.

Yet... Amalur (or whatever it is called) has a nasty online pass that locks away single player campaign content.

I love getting new dashboard updates with significant feature updates and using features that doesn't exist on other console platforms.

You can play on your PS3 for free (and I'm glad that option exist), but I will enjoy my Xbox Live subscription and all the exclusive features it offers.

Until a competing platform offers largely the same experience, I don't think I will switch.

Which is unfortunate for the rest of the industry. Origin isn't just an inferior service to Steam, but it is also VERY anti-consumer unlike Steam.

It wouldn't surprise me if GameStop had more pro consumer digital platform.

... because Xbox Live currently offers features and benefits that other platform's don't. If XBL stops leading the industry, that's when I stop subscribing.

That said, how often do you hear about people that complain about XBL fees? I hear it every single time here...

Online passes has offered me nothing, but restrictions that now extends beyond multi-player to single player campaigns.

I don't see how anyone can support that a...

... and did you ask yourself why the Xbox 360 is popular?

It's not "just" about the amount of content, because if it was the PC hands down would have won. There is no other platform that has more and exclusive content than PC.

You can't argue with numbers directly from first hand sources, MS and Sony.

I don't know why you are getting disagrees?

Excellent answer!

If anything, this generation has seen the rise of the "elitist gamers" more than any other. If you were around and enjoyed the previous generations, know that you would have been the likely target for discrimination.

Holy cr@p!

You have to wait 50 minutes for a game to install less than 7GB on the PS3? Even with a super fast drive, you have to wait over 30 minutes?

Fastest is SSD, and it makes my laptop fly through the boot screen. It was the most dramatic increase in speed that I have ever witnessed on any component.

The same applies to games. Missing manuals, scratched disc, damaged box art and so on. Older games also loose value, by just being old....

Doesn't change the fact that, I get the exact same thing from movies, music and software....

Because *new* game purchases affect me directly as I ONLY purchase new games.

As it stands, I can't say I feel good about purchasing a *new* game.

First publishers screw me over with nasty DRM on PC or Online Passes on consoles. They tend sell me often expensive DLC... and even withhold content to push their other products such as figures (I'm looking at you EA).

If I pirate, I don't have to pay jack squat, I don't have to put...

From the article:

"Second hand sales totally negate all of the above, allowing retailers keep 100% profit from something they had nothing to do with creating. "

Except the developer and publishers already got their profit!

What other industry get's money from second hand sales? This includes, movie, music and even software industry that all sell digital content on media (such as DVDs and CDs).

The reason why sec...
