I went ahead and shamely pre-ordered NG3 Collector's Edition. It's hard to avoid the game when it was your favorite franchise despite it seemingly being destroyed at the moment.
That said, I'm actually more excited for Devil's Third. Go Itagaki!!!
@P_Bomb
***Scum that create new accounts that fill up your friendlist? They're your friends. You added them there. New accounts don't add themselves.***
When I play online, I meet new people and if I enjoy playing with them, I add them to my friends list so I can connect with them again. On PSN, I find some of these people have multiple accounts that they use. Even my personal friends in real life that I hang out with occassionally, started a new acco...
You know, I'm kind of sick of people complaining about what others do. We are coming into a point in life where the religious groups, media and politicians are complaining about video games.
Due to the number of complaints, should we shut the video games industry out?
I don't believe in the event, but I believe in freedom to do so without people constantly telling me (or others) what I can and shouldn't do.
I vote for freedom even...
MS did enormously well, both in the US and Europe since we all know Xbox 360s don't sell in Japan. The fact that they outsold Sony means they must have sold very weak in both the other two regions.
When MS said they were going to be the best selling console worldwide, I didn't think they would achieve it. However, if you keep tabs on the data, the signs was there. Xbox 360 had been increasing their average selling price, while Sony decreased... This was before the lat...
@GribbleGrunger
So now we are down to, Sony is ahead 4 years cumulative? MS pulled ahead 1.7-1.8 million in one quarter and they did it without Japan. Even the Europeans are now buying significantly more Xbox 360's.
MS did all that without a price drop, which the competition did. I said it before, MS' Xbox 360 had an increasing average selling price earlier this year suggesting demand was really strong. This comes as no surprise and I predicted this a...
@MariaHelFutura
Did you not read the article?
They clearly spell out some of the troubles Sony is having, including 7 straight year of losses for the TV division, 4 straight years of losses for the company (soon to be five), a $2 billion loss in last quarter and 17% sales drop.
Sony is just figuring out that "experience" is what drives sales these days, not hardware that will be replaced shortly:
"Mr. Hirai des...
What kind of gamers are you hanging out with?
I play on Xbox Live a lot, and I get nowhere near what you claim in the amount of time.
Neither do I...
I was gonna say, Xbox 720 and PS4 represents opportunities for those companies that survive....
Furthermore, a new console cycle also opens people up to be more open minded. They already bought a new console so want something new to try with it.
Thus a new game is something they are far more likely to be willing to try.
On the flip side, how many new IPs do you see succeed these days?
It probably depends on the game. MW3 has by far most of the @ssholes, but my Gears of War 3 experience has been very good.
Of course the normal trash talk between teams still happen.
That said, it's very easy to mute people.
I hate it when I can't talk to people and get a proper team that communicates. My entire friend list comprises mostly of people that have mics and if I never hear them talk I would never know them enough to add to...
I will be burned on the stake for this, but I agree to some degree. Fact is, there are numerous benefits of being a fee based network.
It keeps out the scum that just creates a new account that is filling up my friends list or people that think they can be @ssholes online and just get a new account.
I also like the premium features XBL has provided, but think the fee should be lower. I never pay more than $30-35 for my subscription.
The way i...
@kneon
... and without the fee, do you think Xbox would offer you all the sweeping changes and introduction of features it has?
The real question isn't why do we have to pay a fee, but why we elect to pay the fee despite free options available?
This opens up the door for Nintendo to innovate in the online space. Nintendo has a history of breaking the mold so you never know if they can conjure up something "awesomly" fun.
That said, they did come up with the terrible idea of Friend Codes... Monkey's could come up with better ideas.
I might have judged Hirai to early:
Mr. Hirai described his strategic goal as teaching the company's 168,000 employees that past successes in manufacturing must be replaced by selling the harder-to-quantify "user experience." The world has moved on, he said, "We can't just continue to be a great purveyor of hardware products, even though some people expect us to do that."
Finally somebody that get's it! Now for the executino?!!...
Loss of confidence in them might actually be a blessing in disguise as it will force SE to do something... that is *something*!
AAA large budget games takes at least 18-months to make and that is with known hardware and usually applies to sequels.
It's pretty safe to say that if Apple would release a console in the next 1-2 years, it would be more for casual games like Angry Bird....
It takes a few months to make a casual game like Angry Bird.
I agree that Apple is out after money (what company isn't?), and they have disrupted several markets including mp3 portable player, cell phones and lately tablet market.
That said, I don't think Apple wants to be in the console space. They want in on the general TV entertainment space (alas media hub) that MS is going after now and Sony tried, but seemed to back off.
That is a different market than console gaming, and until technology is so good that ...
This is a perfect example of when I hear developers complain about console manufacturers' closed network, I take it with a pinch of salt.
Why?
Because having constant patches degrades the experience for everyone. Instead Tim Schafer wants the ability to inundate you with patches every time you start a game.
No! Just No!
I paid premium (read more than) for my console games and get less graphical performance than the PC, be...
That is after years of losses, that the Playstation business is making a profit. Every generation starts like that with massive investment into research, then the product is sold as a loss leader for gazillion in losses early on.
Sony is bleeding money and has been for the last four and soon to be five years so I do wonder about PS4...
Frankly, I don't see anything from Sony that is going to change for the profitable, even with the new CEO. Sony should ha...
I would be sorely disappointed if a new Xbox isn't revealed at this year's E3!
