***why not join ps3 and do Everything, play Everything PLAY BEYOND 360.***
Yet, I can't cross game chat with my buddy or have a party system?
Even a simple thing like trophy syncing is done with a batch script once a day IF you have PSN+.
PS3 has it's strengths, but it doesn't sound like play beyond to me....
I'm ready too!
First out of the gate is Wii U this year, then next Xbox in 2013 followed by the next Playstation in 2014.
Which Xbox 360 owners promptly did. From the article:
"Unfortunately for Elite subscribers on the PC and PS3, the DLC has not yet been made available"
Well, Sony could do what MS is doing and mandate certain policies that game developers must follow when it comes to the menu for instance.
The hallmark of good User Interface is consistency and expectations/prediction.
That is really nice, but shipping it to the US is likely going to cost me $200 total after currency exchange, shipping and potential import tax....
Yeah, Epic has had 5 years to release Gears of War on PS3. Their biggest opportunity was to release Gears of War 3 on the PS3, but that didn't happen.
Why would they go back and port the entire thing to PS3?
It's just wishful thinking, but it is a d@mn good game!
With the exception of Heavy Rain, I really don't see any innovation.
That said, I think the greater market is rejected "innovation" to some degree.
To me, games don't have to "new" or "innovative", it just has to be enjoyable. It could be a casual game, core game or whatever....
@darthv72
***games are games. Do they have to be exclusive to be enjoyed?***
A very small vocal group of people seem to think that once a game has been released it is no longer a game, if it is third party is is no longer a game and the ONLY games worth playing are exclusives (even if they are remakes)....
The rest doesn't give two flying f's and enjoy their console.
I have frequently gotten 25% off Microsoft points cards all the time!
Here it is 10% off, 2-3 weeks ago:

Here is one for 20% off:

I prefer points!
Simply because I can find them cheaper all the time. I stock up when they are on 25% off.
Even on the Wii I get discounts, but on PSN cards I have never seen it discounted. One of the reason, why I never buy stuff there unless it is exclusive.

Thanks for the link!

I couldn't agree more!
I love being able to say "Xbox Pause" when listening to online radio before picking up the phone.
It's the infrastructure MS invested into Xbox Live and the software technology. MS earmarked and reportedly spent a billion dollars on Xbox Live and the software powering the console.
Notice how Xbox Live is all unified and all games have cross game chat, party system, custom soundtrack and so on.
MS planned and engineered all this ahead!
Yeah, the Xbox 360 updates are awesome.
The major dashboard update happens once or twice a year. On rare occasions, you do get smaller updates, but they literally take 10 seconds to update as they are small in tens of Megabytes.
The game updates are even better, you don't even have to restart the game. It downloads it in the background while the game is running and hot patches it on the spot. They are also very small files in my experience.
Wow... 9 updates in a year?
That's almost one every month.
I'm kind of happy they are failing. I would hate to see EA be dominant at anything. They are a very consumer hostile company!
I don't know of any other company that would ban you from your legally purchased games simply for violating forum rules.
Kind of sad to see that EA bought up Bioware and essentially abusing DLC with ME.
In most places in the world except for the US, Sony is a very strong brand that extends to the Playstation. So it isn't just "advertisement", but long standing brand perception.
The US market has far less brand loyalty than most other modern countries in the world. though...
Kinect also has specific hardware to do the voice recognition to offload the console from doing it in addition to the SDK.
Doing it on any other platform, would probably require you to not only optimize resources for the recognition process, but also seek out and buy license for a voice recognition engine.
This might be less of an issue for PC, but on the PS3 RAM might be an issue. Accurate voice recognition requires quite a bit of processing power as well as...
I agree that certain things are silly, but you don't have to use it. Why complain about features you don't use?
To me this is an experiment to find out what works and what doesn't. You wouldn't know that until you release it into the wild.
Anything, that requires me to pause or is awkward to use (i.e. multiple button presses or hard to remember) is a positive to be able to use voice especially if it is optional.
Not only that, but apparently the accessory uses it's own battery.
I think I will pass on these handheld devices, and play on my smart phone on the go. Then get home for some real action on a console with a big screen!
