Playing BF on the PC does not make you a true fan no more than playing videogames on a PC makes you a true gamer.
Just like listening to song on a vinyl doesn't make you appreciate music more than a person listening to music on cassette tape, CD, or MP3 formats.
If this years Call of Duty sales more than BF3, there will be no arms race to make better FPS games.
What DICE is doing is unique. But if it doesn't sale substantially better than Bad Company 2, this game could be seen as a failure....
Exactly, as great as ME is, it is nothing more then your classic Sci-Fi experience.
Look at ME3, it is turning out to be another "Lets have a Space Marine save Earth from Galactic Invaders"

I feel proud of HHG. I just hope that he doesn't let this sudden popularity "get to his head". I hope that he realizes that as an prominent African-American in a predominately white industry, he has a voice and presence that most African-Americans do not have. Hopefully he uses this popularity NOT only to progress his own website/personal brand, but also to tackle issues such as racial diversity in videogames.

The song H.A.M. has a chorus sample in which I found really interesting. That got me to think about the chorus from Duel of the Fates (Star Wars EP1) and Battle of the Heros (Star Wars EP3) which both have deep chorus selections.
Then I thought about how cool it would be if Mass Effect 3 had it's own chorus (similar to Duel of the Fates/Battle of the Heros) as Shepard is taking down the reapers...

Well in terms of AAA Titles shipping in 2011, I think we have a pretty clear grasp of what the competition will be like.
I see what you're saying, but there isn't even another developer releasing 2 AAA titles this year let alone 3 like Bioware.
1. Mass Effect 2 PS3 Port

3. Star Wars: The Old Republic
4. Mass Effect 3
= Bioware
I think we have an idea of what is to come....
In a way, you have a valid point. Because BF is so unknown in comparison to COD and Halo, that means that the BF community is smaller and close together with a bunch of people who enjoy playing the game for what it is and how it is supposed to be played.
So in that regards, its fine.

I was not taling asking if Mass Effect 1 mattered to us the gamers. I was asking if ME1 mattered to Electronic Arts and the direction that they want Bioware to take Mass Effect 3. Afterall, EA did not publish ME1 on the Xbox 360 so they could careless about it. What EA cares about is ME2 and ME3 so they "might" have regulations on Bioware not to make it to where ME1 is even a viable possibility in terms of understanding the story.
