Also Battlefield games requires more emphasis on teamwork whereas COD focuses more on individual skill. This is general creates a different type of fanbase.
Battlefield players tend to be more team oriented and like to play games that requires various strategies and tactics.
COD players tend to be more lone wolf "improve my K/D ratio" type of players. These gamers like games rewards individual performance over group performance.
Are you seriously suggesting that the technology of Modern Warfare 3 is on par with the technology of Battlefield 3?
Activision really seems to be in denial that Modern Warfare 3 is just inferior in terms of technology and gameplay features when compared to Battlefield 3.
He speaks to a large audience often ignored by mainstream videogame journalism.
@BigKev45
Why not? See, that is just the problem with the videogame industry today. It is as if when you don't get it right the first time, you're supposed to just give up and move onto something different. What ever happened to learning from your mistakes, listening to feedback, and implementing those improvements the 2nd time through?
Alpha Protocol was a great concept and if the gameplay was better and the story was a bit more deep, Alpha Protocol ...
@hotgamegirl
I respect your opinion but I have my opinion and I'm standing by it. I still believe that a lot of women love the uniqueness and the idea that they are women gamers in what is seen as a male dominated industry.
I believe a lot of women take advantage of the stereotypes that comes with gaming.
1 - The idea that many men who play videogames religiously are men who are socially awkward around women or either just do not see a l...
Not to sound rude or anything, but a lot of the times, women (even if they don't admit it) sort of like the attention and being singled out from the male gamers. Of course, there is a group of women who HATE being labeled as a girl gamer or something to that nature, but a lot of women like the "unique" aura that comes with being a female gamer.
They may not literally say it themselves, but it is their actions that speaks for them. Instead of doing like the guys ...
This is one thing that I like about Bioware. Despite them being a almighty large developing studio, they still find time for the fans and the fan sites.
Instead of just inviting large media like magazines, IGN, KOTAKU, 1UP and the rest of the larger media outlets, they decided to bring in the hardcore dedicated fansites which really does a better job covering their game.
Development studios like Rockstar Games which does nothing for the community/fans can lea...
Not to mention that shortly after the link, the MW3 pre-orders and Gamestop advertising officially began.
Get over yourself, seriously....
I do not know if anyone is actually reading the article but by the judge of it, you don't really understand the content within the article.
It isn't about whether or MW3 can outsell BF3 or not, it is about the assumption that MW3 WILL outsell BF3 but in the long-term, this would be the start of the downfall of the Call of Duty brand as consumers [casual] finally see COD for what it really is and this will give DICE/EA the momentum going forward.
Which is why in the long-term, this benefits EA/DICE because they essentially have the better gameplay that is not only better, but cutting-edge and never before seen.
This IS a sneak peak into the next generation of gaming.
So you can also be against Blacks/Hispanics getting equal rights as whites but that doesn't make you a racist?
You can also be against women getting the equal rights as men, but that doesn't make you a sexist?
Right......
I'm not saying 1998-2007 RIP because DA2 as a review score failure and ME2 had toned down RPG elements, I'm saying that because they are no longer that indie development studio creating new IPs.
Look at it this way:
From 1998-2005, Bioware created 6 new IPs
1. Baulder's Gate
2. Neverwinter Knights
3. KOTOR
4. Jade Empire
5. Dragon Age
6. Mass Effect
Dragon Age: Origins might...
Bioware R.I.P.
1998-2007
Good thing about MW3 coming out around the same time as Battlefield 3 is knowing that most of the COD players would be too focused playing Modern Warfare 3. That way the BF3 experience would be classic and the way it is supposed to be.
So in a way, I'm excited for MW3! Not to play it, but to have something to distract the BF3 undesirables.
How fun playing her arcade style shooter which a difficulty level where a 6-year old can play. I'll enjoy my tact...
Just to let everyone know, this isn't a posting announcing that ME3 will have same-sex romances as that has already been done. This is an opinion piece that details how this move is a progressive move by Bioware and how it could positively shape the future of videogame AAA development in terms of diversity and speaking to consumer groups who are generally ignored by videogame publishers and developers.
From my understanding the console version's player limit isn't 32 but instead 24 (12 v 12) just like Bad Company 2.
Whether you want to admit it or not, the old Bioware is gone. The Bioware that was the independent developer creating new IPs after IP and forever innovating in the RPG genre. That Bioware died in late 2007 when EA bought them out.
Today Bioware is just another EA studio with the plan to create 1-2 unique IPs and crap out sequels for them every 1-2 years. I believe in terms of Bioware Edmonton, the focus in the next 5 years would be the Mass Effect and Dragon Age IP. Compare...
Just because a game sells better than a particular game doesn't mean it is the better game, just the more popular game.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace did better in the Box Office than Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, but would you really say that EP1 was a better movie overall than EP5?
Blade Runner is considered to be one of the better Sci-Fi movies of all time but yet it was actually a Box Office flop. So would you say Blade Runner is an inferior movie? ...
