I pretty much agree with a lot of what he points out. The game had some potential but fell short by not having a more refined combat system (the combat got very repetitive to me later in the game) and the minigame which is the real draw is only used a few times (at least 2-3 more would have been nice). ...

There is so much irony in that as Asia (specifically China) statistically has the worst drivers and the most accidents in the world. (Note China has been caught flubbing their numbers in the past.)

You can already play Mario on non-Nintendo platforms - it's called emulators.

I imagine some of this comes our of the fact some people thought Nintendo was doomed to go the way Sega did because the WiiU has had less than stellar sales and that once Sony and Microsoft's consoles were out it had no chance of survival.

Well, history didn't play out that way once Microsoft revealed their console and plans. The Sega curse quickly lift from Nintendo and...

The controls are similar (they are both made by Naughty Dog and likely with the same engine), but the strategy of gameplay is very different.

Uncharted INTENTIONALLY had spots in the game that were all out gunfights and you had NO choice in the matter of how to complete the section.

Last of Us forces you to be much more cautious and resourceful. I'm not going to say you won't get yourself into tight situations like those in Uncharted, but at least you...

Crash's and Spyro's rights were sold off. Insomniac and Naughty Dog no longer own the rights to the characters, just the original games they produced.

Insomniac is still technically third-party and can make games for whoever they choose, however I bet there is some sort of joint ownership of the Ratchet characters that prevents them from putting Ratchet and the gang on another console. Sony did this with Final Fantasy VII and its related characters (Square doesn't...

Remember Sony is a hardware manufacturer first and foremost. Sony has access to resources that allow them to make use of higher quality components and manufacturing processes than Microsoft can ever hope to have.

If you don't believe me, look up images of all the Xbox, PS2, 360, and PS3 motherboards and compare them side by side. Sony's boards are manufactured very visibly with much more quality. They use smaller, higher quality capacitors t...

PVP would be the reason.

This made me think of a brilliant concept. Allow people to choose to create a new character from the ground up and go through the story beginning to end, but also give a PVP starting option that gets to start much further along in the game and levels but with the limitation that they cannot "achieve" anything story related.

PVP builders don't care about trophies or achievements for the story. Most are exploiting the game...

They're Third Party. However you can consider them Second Party as their last two games (Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls) are exclusive to the PS3 and Cage hasn't shown any indication of production for other platforms beyond the PlayStation platform.

Quantic Dream is in no way owned by Sony or anyone else for that matter. They are a...

Remember Me had potential, but it fell short on all accounts of being a truly great game. The story was OK, but never really keeps you at the edge of your seat wanting more. The gameplay and remixing minigame are interesting at first, but become "meh" about halfway through the game because of too much of one and too little of the other. In all, Rememmber Me ironically isn't very memorable. It's just an OK game - it's worth playing because it is something different and a ...

I'm pretty sure it's LEDs. If it is constructed like the Move controller there are 3-4 LEDs (at least 3 - Red, Green, & Blue) and a diffuser to spread the light and blend the colors.

The DualShock3 and Sixaxis both utilize 4 LEDs for the player indicators and no more than 2 are on past initial connection (it takes 2 lights to indicate controller 5, 6, and 7 usually reserved for the Move Controllers and the Bluetooth Remote; all 4 blink during connection). The real...

The PlayStation division is one of the few Sony divisions that's actually healthy. The PlayStation division only has such a loss on its books due to the PS3 subsidy as Sony utilized the PS3 as a major chess move to get Blu-Ray standardized, and it paid off. Now that Blu-Ray is the new de-facto disc standard Sony is getting a chunk of that investment back in the form of licensing to use the tech (yes they have to share it with the other BDA founders, but they still ...

The 360's issues were FAR worse than the PS2 laser issue. Over 70% of launch 360's were susceptible to the RROD issue (something like 30% were rumored to actually fail) because of a MAJOR design flaw that took NUMEROUS console revisions to completely fix.

Also you miss a big difference between the PS2 and 360, the PS2 at the time was a paltry $200, the RROD-likely 360 model was $400-500 (depending on which you bought).

OK hardware matters, but more to the point what matters most is consumer trust. Right now the PlayStation brand has gained so much consumer trust that the PS4 has become a no brainer for many. Microsoft has lost so much consumer trust with their Xbox One that its launch is looking very dismal.

I expect both consoles will inevitably sell out for the first couple months as soon as any stock arrives in stores. This is how every major console launch has been. However, unless Micr...

It can be quick too. EA did NOTHING to save 38 studios from the wrath of the Rhode Island government.

Amalur was a f-ing good game. It's a little glitchy because 38 got killed before any real good patches could have been made, but the game is fun as hell, has a decent storyline, and overall fairly well put together. I'm not putting it on as much of a pedestal as Last of Us has been put on recently, but I highly recommend the game to anyone that likes Action RPGs.

Nationalism is part of it and there is no denying it. Apple does well because of it long history of being "artsy fartsy" and the Japanese have fanaticism for everything Apple (it's pretty to them).

Seriously though, Apple's products WORK. The do what they need to do with minimal bullshit. I have always hated Apple for coming off kind of snooty and having blatantly over-priced products, but I am willing to admit that they at least have a really good product. ...

The enemies in the game are not zombies in the traditional definition, but in a more general way they are zombie-like.

OT: Keep in mind Steve Blum, The Voice of Tom, likes to play the games he reviews completely through, which is why it takes SO long before you see a review score from Toonami & Tom. Unlike some reviewers that quickly make a decision on either an unfinished review copy or only play small chunks of the game, Steve plays the whole finished product to make a ...

Bethesda doesn't even fix their games. Because of the mod-ability of their games the community is actually the one doing all the fixes. Bethesda has been known to actually apply the same exact fix that is in an unofficial patch mod in their official patches and because of the nature of their game engine, most fixes that work on the PC (most being fixes to bad scripting of events) will work on the consoles as well with little to no changes.

October to November window is likely with Sony if their past consoles are any gauge. There just is not finite date yet which I'm guessing Sony will withhold until the VERY last minute, likely TGS.

Actually the internet is not that great in the US. It is one of the biggest misconceptions. Only the heavily populated metropolitan areas have the fastest internet speeds available. As you move away from those "hubs" speed and availability drop dramatically. There are rural areas that the only option you have is satellite or cellular which are barely better than dial-up and VASTLY more expensive, especially in the satellite case.

Have fun, here is an interactive map...

You do realize the primary reason for Vista's failure is because Microsoft forced the product out the door too early. Microsoft low-balled the true required specs to vendors and they started shipping the OS on systems that weren't truly up to the task of running Vista and should have shipped with XP.

Why did Microsoft low-ball the true specs? Because at the time they were forcing Vista out the door only $2000-3000 systems (high end laptops ...
