Anything really; Media server, web server, home security, seti@home, video conferencing. The most interesting is such common identical hardware that's dirt cheap.

@Lon3wolf that's a great idea. Do you know if your win7 license is still supported? Also what's cba?

If you bought the Logitech wheel for the PS3 it doesn't work on the PS4. Please don't support them or at least factor that into the price since it probably won't work on the PS5.

So true. Sony is fleecing their most loyal customers by not supporting officially licensed Gran Turismo wheels. Anyone looking to buy a new wheel needs to consider it probably won't work on the Playstation 5 and factor that into the price.

What they should be afraid of is working with EA. Who knows what crap EA will pile on right before launch.

EA: Game looks great. Now lets move levels 12-20 into a separate DLC package. Good. Now pull out the top 5 weapons and put them into another DLC package. Great. Finally, lets nerf all the players who don't purchase DLC so they'll usually lose. NOW we're ready to ship!

I pre-ordered this game last month and it was supposed to release at the end of July. I guess that changed?

Yes. If they want to take away the option to sell the game they must reduce its price for what I could have sold it for.

They are trailblazers in the worst way:

* Shutting down gaming servers early - sometimes in only a year.
* Letting online players pay for content giving them advantages over those who *only* pay for the full game.
* Not including gaming manuals but still charging full price.
* Online passes are still hanging around thanks to them.
* Yanking out key game content and calling it DLC.
* Origin gaming service that spies on you, collects ...

Consoles spend the vast majority of their time on standby. If they were left on standby for an entire year, a PS4 costs around $10/year while the XB1 is around $14.

Though I read the XB1 turns on if you use its hdmi pass-through feature. So if you watch a lot of TV it costs a lot more if that's true.

Looks fun.

Seems they didn't give up on the vision after all in China.. from the article:

…and they’ll [the games] come with activation codes so you can’t buy or sell used games at all.

Why on earth would you buy a used games-less Xbone in China when there's a perfectly good PS4 alternative with no used game restrictions? It's as if.. they. learned. nothing!

No it's smart. You wouldn't like a Sony with no competition. I hope MS fulfills their dream of an xbox media player and kinect haven. WiiU for good second console, and PS4 for the hardcore gamers who don't want gimmicks and billing schemes but just good games at 60fps and 1080p resolution.

It would be a huge incentive to buy more digital games and DLC. Last-gens digital purchases were bittersweet since none of them are backward compatible with the PS4 or Xbone.

Especially when I look through my Steam, Android and iOS games that remain in my collection and will stay there for many generations to come. It's made me hesitant to buy more digital content for consoles and probably less likely to do so.

Having the option to sell digital games woul...

Until you realize that free game cost you a (console) lifetime of downgraded graphics, slower framerates and your money going to a company that wanted to screw you but couldn't fool enough people. That's an expensive game!

M.A.G.'s roving goals and command chain was brilliant. Sony should put their money behind a M.A.G. 2!

One of those graphs looks a little odd - the one with the long horizontal bar chart.

That graph shows Brazil as the highest percentage of in-app purchases and also outright purchases by a huge margin. (Brazil?, Really?) However, Brazil isn't in the top 5 for quarterly revenue?

The first chart is monthly so perhaps it's a ton of soccer/football apps? Weird.

Pure bribery.

They make more money since you'll probably will more games and newer games are worth more.

For example, I buy lots of games on release day only because I can re-sell them for $15-20 less than I paid two weeks later. There's no way I could afford to buy so many games without that option.

With used games I get to support lots of different developers, buy many more games than I would have otherwise, and try out many games that are iffy, that I wouldn'...

@stragomccloud
Oh wow I didn't know they did that and I buy from them occasionally. Thanks for the info!

As a console gamer who's transitioning to PC I certainly agree that PC is where it's at right now.

All except I don't like playing w/keyboard and mouse, except Starcraft, so that pretty much leaves me out of multiplayer.

Of course when project Morpheous is released it's a day 1 purchase along with the PS4.

Without giving away any spoilers, I have to disagree that the game doesn't explicitly tell you what's going on.

The first two major cut-scenes explain in detail where you are, the state Elizabeth is in, why she's there, and that one of the main characters talking to you is a figment of her own memories. It only seems confusing since the story is time-lapsed, i.e. told out of order - though they explain that too during the game.

It's a brillia...
