Pay-to-Win. EA sells cheats that lets online players win over another player not based on skill but only because they paid extra to EA.

Imagine if you were playing a game of chess and were about to lose, but instead you paid an extra $10 and you get an extra queen on the board so you can checkmate your opponent. That's EA in a nutshell.

They used to have good incentives to trade in your games, often tied to the release of new games. Trade in 3 games and get $10 off the new price. This created a sort of event around new game launches where you'd gather up all your used games to trade in around new game launches.

Then the trade-in values became insulting bad, like you'd have to be an idiot to sell anything to them. But still the used game prices were good and it was fun to browse around looking for g...

Greedy is the new normal. Thanks EA!

Vita is terrific hardware but was made at a time when Sony was losing money and that made their decisions too greedy for their own good.

First was the ridiculously overpriced, unreliable and slow memory cards. Then there's no HDMI out, which they did to prevent cannibalizing PS3 game sales. Had they just included HDMI it could have been the Switch. Then you have the proprietary connector instead of USB for charging. The draconian DRM that prevents multiple accounts or r...

Now I'm not saying all xbox gamers are gay but if Phil asked them to kiss it their knees would hit the ground before he could finish the sentence.

This game works in VR as well.

NSNS: No Steam no sale. Looks like a boring racing game but with motion blur and reflections turned up to max.

Steam allows publishers/developers to sell an unlimited number of steam codes. Steam earns no commission on codes sold this way and can be offered on any website and for any price the publisher/developer chooses.

So the argument that Epic store somehow better for developers is kind of bull. And it's certainly not better for gamers with their crap return policy, walled-in exclusives and scare features.

You missed one of my favorite reasons: You can return games for any reason if you played less than two hours and owned less than two weeks! This makes buying games risk free so you can try as many as you like and returns are automated (at least on Steam) so just a few clicks and your money is back. I buy many more games because of it. It's like getting a full demo for every game that exists!

Glad to here someone like it. Am waiting for my pre-ordered Steam code to activate and been reading the discussion forums and it's not getting the best reactions so far. They might be playing the demo though.

Do you notice any performance difference when running games from an external drive?

You can still get 20% off from Best Buy if you have their gamers club membership. GreenManGaming has it for 6% off.

This is great! The PS4 runs a modified version of FreeBSD that's similar to Linux. Hopefully in a few years we'll have something that's almost as good but free for everyone. A watershed moment for gaming.

Would have guessed it was a Japanese company wanting international adoption, but no. It was:
"I gave each symbol a meaning and a color. The triangle refers to viewpoint; I had it represent one’s head or direction and made it green. Square refers to a piece of paper; I had it represent menus or documents and made it pink. The circle and X represent ‘yes’ or ‘no’ decision-making and I made them red and blue respectively."

Agree 100% about GoG - they are amazing! DRM is optional on Steam and is left up to the publisher if they want to include it or not. Most do though, so perhaps that's a point without a distinction.

The one feature I really want is the option to buy/sell used digital games. I would support another platform if they offered this service.

Valve should kick Ubisoft off Steam for forcing the crappy uPlay launcher with all their games. I buy nothing from EA or Ubisoft and am happy to add Bethesda to the list.

I bought a bunch of games from GameFly digital but they closed down their service and 'transferred' ownership to some Direct2Drive. Now none of those games work and neither GameFly nor Direct2Drive tech support give a crap.

Steam is reliable and will be around for a long time si...

Knowing EA it will stop your movie 10 minutes before it ends and ask for a micro-transaction payment to see the ending.

Just never connect it to your network. I bought a TCL tv for an amazing price but read it actually spies on everything you do including sending screenshots back to home for marketing. It even says so in the terms-of-service.

I remember seeing it in a Sears as a kid at the end of an aisle in its own kiosk. Was super excited at first because "video games!!!" It was crazy expensive though, I think $599 for the cheap one and $799 for upgraded one though didn't understand what the difference was.

At first it seemed amazing because the graphics were so incredible but when trying to play a game they were mostly not really playable just pointing left or right to make decisions. The contro...
