Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and now SO4. Those are the 3 JRPGs so far this generation that the USA has got to touch that I can safely say are great.(Well my verdict on SO4 is still out till I go buy it, but the other two I love)
I'm still excited to try out White Knight Chronicles and Demon's Souls for my PS3.
We just need more of the developers we saw so often on PS1 and PS2 to start doing sequels to their popular RPG series. Konami has Suikoden and curren...
The sales for the PS3 version would have to astronomically low for Bethesda to not have the same DLC on PS3 as well. The cost of making it available must outweigh the profits that could be made.
Personally as a developer I wouldn't bother either if I was going to lose out on doing it. I'd rather keep as much money as I can in times like these to be able to deliver more on my companies next project.
Tough luck for PS3 owners of the game, but I had the 360 version....
Last I checked Samuel L. Jackson is a household name and he voices in Afro Samurai.
I bet no one would know who David Hayter was if it wasn't for Metal Gear Solid. I think his voice acting is amazing. His voice really makes Snake for me, because I can't even begin to imagine someone elses voice for Snake.
I do agree though that a lot of games severely lack good dialogue/acting. So many JRPGs before voice acting were more popular, because our minds filled in the g...
Two different genres of gaming. Each is using graphical power in different places. Third person vs. first person is apples to oranges.
The only FPS on 360 I know that is first party exlusive is Halo. Since Halo looks like garbage, then yes Killzone 2 wins.
If we are going to compare third person shooters on both consoles, then I guess Socom Vs Gears 2 that Gears 2 wins by a landslide.
Here's a good question though, since when did a game LOOKING bet...
Alan Wake from what we have seen and told about it, which isn't much, seems...fail like. It's going to take an elaborate amount of new details, in game footage, a demo on marketplace, and an unprecidented amount of marketing to make me think differently.
I'm all for games surprising me to turn out great when I thought it would be nothing great, but it generally takes a demo at the LEAST for that encouragement to occur. Perfect example is Tom Clancy's HAWX.
@gaffyh
Tri-Ace had flops? You must be thinking of SquareEnix as a whole. As far as I know Tri-Ace only handles making Star Ocean and Valkryie Profile games. All of which are outstanding JRPGs that deliver 100+hours of gameplay when you start touching side quests.
I could be wrong though in whoever made InfiniteUndiscovery in SquareEnix's branch. If it was developed by Tri-Ace that is indeed a major fail, because god I hated that game. Played 2 hours then just s...
Ahh, another day and yet another flame X console as dying "news" article. Hey game "journalists/news givers," it's okay to take a day off if there is nothing to talk about in the world of videogames. You aren't obligated to make flamed up idiotic drabble like this to produce hits.
Let's discuss a console being dead when it is. When we can all come to that same agreement and it is a fact. Till then you can oh I don't know, LEARN TO DO YOUR JOB!
I get this is pre-alpha that they are working with, but I honestly doubt no matter how much effort you put in trying to use the Crysis engine to make the 2005 trailer you will just fail by a long shot.
Killzone 2's Engine is vastly superior for an adrenline rush FPS full of set pieces that stand out. Crysis is more of a open world FPS like Far Cry if I'm not mistaken. Killzone 2 is more linear in it's campaign approach so they CAN make the eye candy stick out. In Crysis you hav...
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Lost Planet was a big hit in Japan so much so that they still play it in big numbers.
I know for myself that the Story for the game was a short and uninteresting tale. I did enjoy the mech fights and the final boss was awesome in Lost Planet 1.
The best part of Lost Planet though was the online play. The maps are all so well made in my opinion and the game was essentially Sniper's paradise. Hopefully for Lost Planet 2 they just fi...
I really hope SE finally unleashes their new FF mmo that's being developed by the same guys who did FFXI MMO.
I can see myself easily dropping 100-200 hours on my first playthrough of this game. Every Star Ocean game has tons of side quests and bonus dungeons to give you a big bang for your buck.
It's crazy to see this get a 4/5 especially with Adam's recent upset with SE over the FF13 trailer and him saying they haven't brought a game that's good to this console generation yet lol.
Glad to see this leaning towards the best JRPG put out this console generation us people in the west have gotten to touch. I'm still thinking White Knight Chronicles or Demon's Souls could be a step above this for bestest JRPG this gen. :P
I think it's great that people in here are commenting just like every other message board goes when talking about Sessler's Soapbox on Killzone 2.
I'll use big letters for those who didn't get it:
HE WAS MAKING FUN OF ALL FANBOYS. NOT CONSOLE SPECIFIC ONES. HE THINKS EVERYONE WHO IS AN IDIOT TO THINK HE AND XPLAY ARE BRIBED ON THEIR REVIEWS NEED TO DIE IN A DITCH.
No one won jack squat from his Soapbox or make Sessler out to be on a side of some so...
Too bad buying from India if you live in the USA is like waiting for Jesus' second coming.
I got a copy off ebay and it shipped on Feb 13th. Still haven't gotten it here in North Dakota in the states.
Total fail.
Browser is up and stuff, but it's stuck at checking for helghast no matter where I go.
They better not be scared of lil ol me. :)
I personally prefer the US one more. There's just more oooh and awww from it. Both are outstanding though.
In game or not for the USA one, the level of detail going around everywhere is outstanding. Plus the Tagline: War Perfected, just says all you need to know about this games aim on what it's setting out to do. Perfect the FPS genre so that at this point everyone else has to top them. :)
Oh please. Anyone who thinks this will win GOTY overall in 2009 would have to be high or a complete fanboy to SF series only. You'd basically have to play no other games this whole year to follow that sick delusion out. Maybe it'll be YOUR game of the year, but I'll punch myself in the junk if any big name sites or mags give this the GOTY trophy.
It's def a great game, but there isn't much here to hold it as GOTY. GOTY needs to push the envelope for games in many ways. Story, g...
As long as its spoiler free of the story I'll be all over it. Really should list what time zone in the quick sum up though. :P
Every game ever made has some potential to sell a console to someone if they really wanted to play it.
Killzone 2 has just as good of a chance as any game to be the reason someone buys a PS3 to play it.
