If you actually bothered to read the article, you'd see that it takes the view that while Nintendo's plans sound odd at first, they actually make perfect sense and are rather exciting...

...provided that they execute.

That's the point. I love my Gamecube so much, still to this day. Remember when Nintendo made consoles that were ridiculously awesome, even when they didn't sell well?

Let's have that again please Nintendo.

The ones we've seen so far have been tight and urban, but not tiny. Remember that the Titans are pretty damn large, and the Pilots can move a cross, up, over, and through buildings much faster than most FPS multiplayer soldiers. Verticality will be much more important than in a standard FPS.

Me too.

I agree. The CODification of the FPS genre has meant that the last few years have seen many games try to match that series for all-in-one gameplay. But you can't do that. What we need are more outfits with ambitious ideas allowing for that variety in gameplay, so we can have tight, fast-paced, low-player count titles as well as ones that offer expansive battles.

A game that does one thing really, really well is much more preferable to one that does all things just solidly...

Yeah. Internet infrastructure needs to improve massively. I want this digital cloud-based future as much as anyone, but the crippling restrictions of inept and avaricious ISPs stand to ruin everything.

Yes. The Sony presser at CES will be very interesting indeed. Fingers crossed for VR. I'M SO UP FOR VR!!!

All of my extremities are crossed in the hope that the metaphor plays out like that!

Because, looking at the release slate for January, there's bugger all else to do! :-)

But also to spark debate as well. As much as articles are fun to write, they're a starting point for discussion rather than a finishing point.

Gives us something to chat about while we wait for Titanfall.

No, the lack of third-party support is down to the tiny install base and the lack of a profitable market due to poor sales.

To be fair, I actually agree with stragomccloud to a certain extent.

Nintendo's stubbornness does have its benefits, particularly when it comes to the perception of what makes a complete game, and the point about day one DLC is well made.

The free online thing, however... Nintendo's online services are fairly laughable, convoluted, and messy.

And paying for exclusives isn't bribery. In fact, if Nintendo wants to make its GamePad m...

Good for you, and I mean that genuinely. The article isn't trying to tell you what to think. It's an opinion piece. If Nintendo have already sold you on the Wii U, that's great.

But your positivity certainly isn't universal.

4428d ago 12 agree11 disagreeView comment

Because Wii U's gimmicks and ease of development as a platform have really made it fly off of the shelves with a host of third-party titles to support it. </sarcasm>

You'll notice that MS and Sony have managed to deliver second screen experiences without basing a whole console around such technology.

So. Much. META!

That's well observed and quite possibly totally true. But that doesn't make him a good protagonist character.

Just because his complete lack of personality and plank-like emoting can be justified in terms of authenticity, that doesn't make it a good fit for a story.

"Could we end up seeing Connor again in a future 'Assassin's Creed' game?"

God I hope not.

He had about as much personality as a plank of wood. I love the AssCreed series, (2/Brotherhood is the best IMHO) and AC4 is proving to be an absolute cracker, but Connor was a poor protagonist. AC3 is by some distance the worst installment in the series.

^THIS!

And that's the point. Guerilla started out really strong. That first level in the forest is AMAZING! It's new and kinda fresh and feels open and exciting. And then everything that was gold slowly turns to poo.

What makes Shadow Fall a disappointment is that the blueprint for a truly excellent game is there...it's IN THE GAME! Sadly, for whatever reason, it's just never capitalised upon.

It's not really insane, there's always the possibility that networked technology will always be used for nefarious purposes. But technology also offers us things that are cool and super convenient.

You weigh it all up. If we ran from every little thing that governments COULD co-opt for possible clandestine surveillance, then we'd all live off the grid and we'd never go online or use bank cards or have mobile phones.

It'll be important to s...
