"I know people have sat around and talked about virtual reality games and have played around mimicking their lightsaber battels and throwing streetfighter fires balls. MS saw that and thought hey lets make that real"
It's not enough to make a game that has those features, you have to make it GOOD. The assertion that Kinect "works" is flawed - it needs the larification of "inaccurately" - and that's due to both the inadequacies of the tech...
I'll concede that perhaps a better title would have been "Can We Kick The Idea That Kinect Is Anything But A Platform For Party/Dance Games, Young Children's Games, and Fitness Programs To The Curb?" but that wasn't quite as snappy.
It's an opinion piece, what do you expect?
Just when you think it's safe, they'll burst out of cover and impregnate you with disgusting babies :-(
Utter kudos to Firaxis. THAT'S how you do a franchise reboot!
Those damn Chrysalids indeed! Cracking game though! Definitely going to be in the running for GOTY come December.
Throw Far Cry 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter into the mix as well, and every way you look at it, it'll be a really awesome autumn/winter for the discerning FPS fan!
It really is an absolute cracker of a game. Definitely a must buy for the Vita.
I love the convenience of online multiplayer, but some of my favourite gaming moments have come from local multiplayer. Surely, in this crazy 21st century world of ours, we can manage both?
I think that one of the finest things about Sleeping Dogs is that it's begging to be finished. It's not an MMO, it doesn't look to go on forever, nor does it seek to cheaply extend its lifespan with hundreds of irrelevant collectibles. The social features have kept me coming back, and its core components never got boring. Everything is up to scratch, and in Hong Kong we have a city that really is a breath of fresh air.
Fantastic game, deserves its moment in the su...
Say the words "four-way multiplayer brawler" to anyone and I bet that 9/10 times the first game they'll point to is SSB. All of the games you listed are straight-laced fighters. SSB is a classic example of Nintendo looking at the fighting genre and beat 'em ups, and bypassing them completely by creating a new sub-genre that SSB defined.
It's not a competition fighter.
It's not a beat 'em up.
You wouldn't find it in an arcade o...
Absolutely agree. The only reason that it looks so starkly derivative is that no-one else has really stepped up to the plate in this sub-genre.
Skyrim is undoubtedly one of the best games I've played this year...but it was released in 2011.
Spec Ops, Max Payne 3, TSW, Trials, Heroes of Ruin, Dear Esther would have made a top 20 along with the honourable mentions.
UK list my friend...Xenoblade was featured in our GOTY 2011 lists, and Tales of Graces f isn't out over here just yet.
Well that was a compelling argument :-/
It looks like I'm going to have to spell this out...
The article isn't about whether the Vita itself is good value for money at all. I have a Vita, which I bought. And it's glorious for the most part. It's not a case of 'haters gonna hate', but rather expressing disappointment that Sony and other publishers haven't taken advantage of an opportunity to make digital downloads for triple-A titles like Uncharted and FIFA competitive with the likes of ...
Pricing will always be an issue for anyone other than the blind faithful, but that's not really the point of the article. Rather it presents an opinionated look at the potential Sony had to make a statement with their digital pricing for blockbuster titles on the Vita.
Considering the precarious nature of UK high street retail at the moment, not to mention the year on year increase in digital distribution, one would suggest that pricing is a key topic of the moment.
Probably got to be Ocarina for me on reflection. Brilliant double boss fight, ultimate satisfaction at completing the game, and the story is wrapped up perfectly with an understated, touching scene that brings everything full circle.
Gearing up for the Wii U to disappoint me greatly.
I really hope so, such a patch would go a long way to make the game less offensive...but only because it's so far gone.
There is a good concept, it just hasn't been realised. More's the pity.
I'd agree with you on this. If you're already set on buying it, don't torture yourself :)
More for those who are still a little undecided, and people who want to see a little more of the game before they jump in.
