Good to see a fair score for this game! Now a "7" sounds a little bit more like it! Not sure how it's getting 9s and 10s everywhere. But I think a 7 sums it up pretty well: It's a fun game, however there have been no major changes therefore it should recieve a "7" which by most reviewers scales is in the realm of "good" where as 9 typically equals "excellent" and 10 equals "perfect"

I can go with COD being "...

I don't know about you, but I have no problems with the "playability" of BF3. Perhaps what you are referring to is that COD is easy to pick up an play, since all there is to do is run and shoot... there's no tacticality, no vehichle or flight controls to master, no bullet or rocket trajectory (bullet drop), no destruction and barely any recoil in the guns, and the maps in BF3 are 10-20 times the size of a CoD map. You pick up the controller and shoot people within the conf...

Wait WHAT!? nearly a PERFECT SCORE!?!?!

I am wondering how MW3 is getting mostly FLAWLESS reviews. Most reviews I've seen on the internet today, have given it between 8.5 an 10, while then going on to say in a nutshell "This is the best COD yet, they made no core changes and its still a corridor shooter."

This game is NOT getting reviewed objectivley. Reviewers are wearing their COD Fan-goggles during their write up, and subsequently admi...

Ill admit that I did not read the article simply based on the headline: gaming: a serious hobby, or just a waste of time?" Why pick on gaming? No hobby is a "waste of time" in my opinion. Hobbies are our preferred ways to pass the time. Why not write an article called "Reading books: a serious hobby or just a waste of time?"

I'd like to see less NY, LA, Vegas in games. They are fun playgrounds but very over used.

To be fair, BF3 should look better on the ps3, because DICE had already said they were optimizing each version to the fullest extent of each repective platform. They are using a type of lighting and shading that is impossible on the 360. I do agree that generally, mutiplats look better on the 360, but battlefield is one of the few exceprtions. Btw I'm not trying to troll your comment.. I picked it up on the 360, simply because I can't do the FPS thing with the ps3 controller layout, a...

Yea, I was gonna say the same exact thing. There are inconsistencies in textures, and some texture seem to take forever to load. The lighting looks superb though, and I think the gameplay is bar none for the current FPS genre. I'm sure it looks a little prittier on playstation, as I heard DICE were optimizing each version for its specific platform.

I picked up BF3 this morning and its a 10 for me, and I'm the only critic I care about.

They should bring it to Boston! Tons of infamous organized crime figureheads there they could parody.. Whitey Bulger and the Winter Hill mob, Steven "The rifleman" Flemmi, plus plenty of rundown Ghetto and posh and trenty downtown areas to play in as well. Then again, as a Bostonian, I guess I'm biased ;)

Nah.. I think Saints Row and GTA should remain different from each other. This generation, gta transformed into a dark and gritty crime drama, and Saints row has truly capitalized on the over-th-top, cartoony shock-value that it delivers so well. I personally would be bummed if one of those franchises became more like the other for competitions sake.

At $60 a pop I'm not sure if I can call those thrills "cheap"! I like CoD, but where they seem to have made so few changes and innovations in the franchise I've grown bored of it over the years. I am still mildly interested in MW3, but I plan on waiting until the early summer to pick it up so I can find it used for $30 at gamestopm. Up until Black Ops, Cod gamers were a day-one buy for me.

Hey man, wtf is your problem?? Why can't you just deal with the fact this game apparently looks this good on 360?? Do you own a 360? Do you know what games look like on a 360? Have you seen some of the 360's more shining graphical acheivments? (Forza 4, Gears 2,3, Crysis 1 to name the most recent examples)

I think it's safe to say that these are ALL 360 screenshots, because if you look at some of the textures you can tell they aren't as perfect as a PC on hi...

Very true indeed. In our consumerist culture, brand loyalty is ingrained in us. Brand rivalries are everywhere and have been forever. But one thing that really astounds me is that brand loyalty has become so venomous in modern gaming culture that fans of each brand are constantly at each others throats nitpicking about which brand/game/franchise is better.

In my non-gaming life I am a professional musician, and one of the oldes rivalries among modern musicians has been t...

... but I just had to read the comments cuz I knew they would be hilarious! And are they ever! hahaha! I may need to get the popcorn ready for the next 3-4 pages of crying.

The one thing i've noticed about N4G? The majority of it's users all seem to "know" more about game building and console development than REAL game developers (not just kids that play one on the internet)

..bunch of tools.

..exactly.

For me, it wasn't infinity ward, treyarch, or Activision that ruined my CoD online experience... it was the CoD community that killed it.

Sure, I get the argument that IW, Treyarch, Activision have made minimal gameplay and layout changes to CoD over thet years... yea that's a bit of a bummer too, but I enjoyed the fast arcadey style of gunplay and the depth of the unlocks and perks.

But then it seemed that once ...

I know right? Op Metro doesn't show what BF is really all about. DICE knows this will sell on consoles more than on PC, simply due to the larger install base of console players.

What concerns and angers me more, is that they are obviously trying to buy CoD fans with this map. I'm afraid that if that tactic works then we will have a ruined BF experience, as we'll see the likes of Soap MacTavish and Captain Price running around the maps trying to kill people wit...

Hey look another Troll comment from THC Cell, the biggest sony fanboy on N4G... moving on.

Anyway, I agree that the Move is better, even though I've played neither. At least the Move has peripherals.. Anyone seen the preview for the upcoming Kinect shooter "Blackwater"? I'd rather use the sharpshooter than mime like I'm holding an assault rifle.

"thats the problem with betas and demos, it gives you a idea of how the game is gonna buy and usually in my experience it makes me not want to buy the game after playing the demo"

Yea, but that's a good thing no, especially with the price of games these days? I could've used a demo for "Homefront" and a few other games that I thought I was gonna love!

I think I'm going to clarify somethin' for ya D..

you wrote: "EA and DICE, your fanboys will purchase the title and love it, but the average hardcore gamer will purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 over Battlefield 3."

1. you used the word "fanboy" wrong. Someone who simply buys and loves a game is not a "fanboy", and vice versa, buying a game then loving it does not turn you into a fanboy. A Fanboy is someone who ...
